Kinda can't wait to see it!
same
Just the way you talk about it, the obvious conclusion is that it is a major work of art. Otherwise, when was the last time that you were breathless from excitement? Forget all the "rules." A maestro rattled your world. Do not hesitate to say that this is a great film; that way, you will do a service to the filmmaker and his creation.
With all its - I suppose? - flaws, I wanna see this weird beast of a film.
You may love it.. you may hate it, just feel blessed to witness that kind of act of cinema, that probably no one else but FF Coppola will offer to you again
Cinema can be a lot of things, but if we receive it with the most openmindset possible, it is always a gift
sorry for my english I'm french, thanks for this enthousiastic yet realistic review, i look foward to experience that thing
Votre anglais n’est pas mauvais du tout, mille fois meilleur que le mien.
You had me when you compared it to “Babylon,” another truly underrated masterpiece by a true visionary. Gonna see it!
Yeah me too , I'm intrigued , also a Shia LaBeouf fan , great actor .
This review has me so pumped to see this now! What are the chances of Coppola selling it now ? Lol
None basically.
This review makes me want to see it more. I'm there opening night.
so how was it?
Sounds great! I'm in. I'm hungry for a singular audacious ludicrous fascinating undefinable movie that's not an IP or a remake by one of our last great 70s filmmakers with zero studio interference. That's exactly what we need.
It probably took me about 20 years to love Apocalypse Now, as like many at the time I interpreted it as pretentious and self-indulgent, and even if it WERE, so what???? Time has proven it to be a truly great work of art, so some pretentiousness and self-indulgence isn’t always a bad thing. I’m SO pumped to see this work and even more curious to see how it goes down in posterity!!!
We're all starving for originality in movies, but here's a thought experiment: What if you saw "Megalopolis" without the name Francis Ford Coppola on it? Suppose you had to judge it on its own merits, knowing nothing about the director, his previous films, or how much time & money he invested? Would you be just as excited then?
If I saw that trailer without his name on it? Absolutely.
Infact believe it or not i would feel same excitement i thought the trailer was spectacular and i was in utter disbelief that it was made with his own money and also how much of less attention it is getting from reviewers and all other critics. I mean even the trailer itself was epic to me. But afc now after its messy review i am more curious
Excitement? Maybe not but I mean if a rando was able to spend $120M for his own film, I'd probably check it out outta curiosity
I wanna see it in the same sense of seeing rocky horror picture show. I know its not a romp but the way you put it as "camp" has got me interested.
What a tremendous review! Expertly handled with reverence and respect.
This is a nice genuine review. Makes me want to see the movie even more.
That Shelf's review of Megalopolis👍 😎 Megalopolis Let's GO!
can't wait to see it
Thank you man, you rock
Nice to put a face to the voice, I lsten to your reviews on CBC radio in the mornings 🙂
Hope it's not too horrifying
@@jasongorber6968 haha, you're doing great work, sir, thank you
I used to listen to CBC radio but now they are weird leftist communists. I'm suspicious now.
“Memorable” That’s quite a compliment these days
Sounds like a new Southland Tales
Thank you!
Lit ⚡⚡⚡
We all keep complaining that Hollywood can't do anything original anymore so here we are. I haven't seen it yet and I'm totally open for a bit of a zany offbeat movie. I certainly hope it's at least watchable and somewhat understandable.
Nice
It sounds like an incoherent mess that's being praised because it's Coppola who made it. I'll wait until I can see it for free just out of sheer curiosity.
Or maybe a niche minority enjoyed it ? Some people like the wacky weird and wonderful .
This film could end up being a One From the Heart 2.0.
Sounds like a unique film. I'm in.
Loved your review ❤
I hope it's not another ONE FROM THE HEART.
I'm curious
Is this hard rated R film
Im getting Beau is Afraid vibes and i will be watching
I want to see something different outside the box. Sick of the same old movies that are the same the same the same. Time to innovate cinema and move ahead of marvel.
I don’t know if innovating means moving ahead of Marvel. That seems to imply that Marvel was trying to innovate. I don’t think they were. Like the film business in the U.S. in particular making money is the goal whatever artistic expression is an added value but it wasn’t the goal. I write this as someone likes most of the MCU but I like it for overtly commercial exercise it is.
nothing about the characters, nothing about the story..are you sure you are talking about a movie?
Once you said Adam Driver I new it was going to be shit. Poor guy is going to die a broken man hitching his movie to that no talent star.
Driver is awesome
This would normally be great news, but Coppola's last few films were awful. His last one, TWIXT, was like a bad student film. Not to mention his director's cuts he releases of his old movies that ruin the films.
The more people talk about this film, the more it sounds like a massive money laundering scheme.
Mesmerizing mess? Count me in. So tired of Marvelized movies
This should be Adam Driver's last film. He is the most boring actor acting so bad in the most stupid film.
imagine your a great film maker and this bozo reviews it so strange
Pretty dumb.
You couldn't pay me to watch it! You couldn't pay me to watch anything with driver in it ! Hope its a flop!
Sounds like a crappy film made a famous director. Should be called MEGLOMANIA
I'll skip it!
A film that stinks as bad as the city it portrays. By New Yorkers, for New Yorkers. Hope New Yorkers recognize themselves in it. Shit for shit.
This comment makes no sense.
@@BlackDoveNYC A film so bad only New Yorkers could love it. New York, a failed city.
@@BlackDoveNYC looks like he was high on drugs lol
@@MillerFobbshow is it a failed city? lol 🤦🏼♂️
So it’s trash lol.
You are clueless and obviously missed the point.
In other words, It sucked.
A polite explanation for an awful film no one will watch?
get a shave, a haircut, and a better camera gimble, but most of all, go and learn How to critique anyting. Watching this was a bit MEEEEEEEH.
