Do you think one should change etf(s) they are investing in based on the type of market we are in? eg: if in a bear market, go for value funds and when entering bull ones, go for momentum strategies.
You can try but it’s really hard to predict, I usually follow a rule that when momentum funds crosses 200dma from above I, halve my position and re enter in same etf when the price has dropped more than 20% from DMA, but trust be leaving the money alone if you have long time horizon would be a better strategy for majority investor, since India has been in bull market for last 15 years, we never had 2-3 years of negative returns, so I would not worry too much about this and focus on getting started first
@ I think you should not compare momentum and alpha against each other, both are high risk strategy based on price movement. Rather use them as a diversification in your portfolio to generate alpha while limiting risk on a single stock
@ I think in that case it would be fine and you should be able to generate more returns than nifty. However it’s going to be a bumpy ride as momentum stocks are prone to higher volatility

@vishal-vealth-view great. Also one more question, do you think alpha based strategies will outperform momentum ones. What's your hypothesis on that?
