Basically all racing events have a "no touching, or tackling" rule. I think it's bad not only because there's people who dislike the aesthetic of it but also because attacking someone actually makes you slower.
fun fact australias first winter olympic gold medal was a ice skate race like this. the australian was dead last until the leading guys all crashed and he just cruised to the finish.
I don’t get how you can get in front without going on the outside and losing all your speed or position, and pushing through without knocking the guy in front

It is evident that Hamelin (both of them, and Canadian team in general) work like crazy to perfect their technique and that they have amazing natural talent.They are determined, powerful, spirited, apparently disciplined, athletes. I wish Canada continued success! The Hamelins make this sport super-duper exciting!! (And, they certainly don't hurt the eyes! ^.^) I also can't wait for 2018!

They should make this with a complete racetrack. Led strips below the ice, so they can basically switch the race track every minute or so. Curves n bends, interesting stuff. . No led indicating you gotta jump over the section. Sections so narrow you gotta oneskate em
They started of peacefully and satisfyingly in sync and then with every lap it got increasingly more intense lol
