You can make the big adjustments by adding layers and then the fine adjustment with the bipod. With the recoil it looks like you are shooting 200.20x @ +/- 2700 or something similar.
It's to get your chest off the ground for better recoil control. Helps you get behind the gun better and off a normal bipod, helps load it without any muscle tension.

I see you build up the platform height under the bipod. Is it so you can widen out the bipod for stability or a lower center of gravity?
