On 21 January 1985, former President Prof. Yusufu Kironde Lule died in London.
He was then Chairman of the rebel National Resistance Movement, whose military wing, NRA, Yoweri Museveni was commanding in the bush.
At the funeral service in London, NRM leaders vowed to return Prof. Lule's remains to Uganda for burial, which they did in January 1987.
