Well, aren't you glad the government didn't shut down?? No thanks to your GOP representatives that voted to close it down. Vote them out. Career over country is their priority.
@@moodycxnt Theoratically any country can shut down every year if it doesn't have a legal basis to pay its bills on. In most republics, the power of the purse lies with parliament, in the US that is Congress. Usually, parliament passes a budget every year that dictates the administration on what it can spend how much money. It's not really different in any other western democracy. What makes the US a special case is the Republican Party paired with the fact that they have a presidential system instead of a parliamentary one, giving more power to the opposition. In theory a good thing, in practice maybe not if you also have an electoral system that basically only allows for two parties and one of them is a bunch of far-right anti-state nutjobs.
You guys need to make a special on Kris Kristofferson. At the very least, release a clip of this show dedicated to Kristofferson. Please!!! We need to celebrate and remember or left and left-leaning heroes!
Not in this country. Main stream news one job is to get the people to think and believe a certain way that our political overlords want us to. Mainstream news and media doesn't do journalism so much as propaganda onbehalf of corporations and the government.
Well this is the problem right there. The Federal Government has never been able to ensure the rights of its citizens including the right to vote and political participation. We probably need to split up. into various region states...
Great Helene and climate coverage today - and the segment with Manisha Sinha was super engaging and informative. Excellent job, MR crew and Manisha!
This interview was so amazing. "Voter suppression as a fine art" damn that's good, true and so sad.
My fav memory of Kris Kristopherson is as whistler in the "Blade" films. Great politics, too. R.I.P.
I'm a big fan of "Pat Garret and Billy the Kid" (1973)

I've been watching for years but it's still not clear. Is the government meant to shut down every year? Weird country!

Why have a moderator/news organization present if they're not going to fact check? Isn't that their job?

The Federal government does not directly state voting is a right
And you know what that will lead to, right?
@@corvacopia Its literally in the constitution. They even reaffirmed it for women and minorities people.
