The thing I remember most about Stein, if everyone joined him for a run down the mountain (as I did with a bunch of other skiers) I don't care how good you thought you were, you could not stay with him and conditions didn't matter, broken powder, ice , powder, mashed potatoes none stop top to bottom. My legs are still burning and that was sugarbush 1968. I did not know whether to love him or hate him for that hair raising experience!!!
Nice tribute, although perhaps a change of music for Eddie would have been better -- something indicative of the period around 1973. That mogul run of Eddie's on Look Ma at Vail in 1973 is legendary for its combination of thrill, grace, speed, and power. It seems unreal that someone could flow at that speed, half the time airborne, over such steep, giant moguls. And Stein, who was instrumental in launching the freestyle revolution of the late 60's and early 70's with his weekly flips -- still amazing -- all with leather lace-up boots. RIP both😢
At 1:10 he's wearing a 'Marius Sweater', named after his brother Marius Eriksen, another skier(Norwegian champion, was in the 1948 Olympics) , actor and WWII flying Ace... ua-cam.com/video/s6DVmqGHJ_0/v-deo.html A short clip from the movie where he first wore that sweater.
Прекрасные старые добрые времена! Спасибо за воспоминания! Great good old days! Thanks for the memories!
Thanks,
