Brother, we have to follow Hadith too for the explanation of Quran. In multiple Hadiths, it is prohibited about the use of musical instruments. One of the reference, I have shared in another comment below. Same thing Dr.Sb is saying that Quran indirectly did not mention but Hadiths do mention it. Similar to Namaz, Quran repeatedly orders to offer prayers, but is silent about its method.

Assalamu alaikum, I like your videos,so much, these are very helpful and leads every person towards Islam. In this video, you said that ”music is haram in Islam except duff” but I want to know that “is Islam allow us to sing?” And if it allow us to sing than “can we sing any type of sur with any type of music , if the lyrics are right?”
During Mohd s.w.s there was only duff and there were no any kind of instruments and if its were there he would not made it haram. Especially he would love to listen SARANGI.
Different muslims believe in different things. Some muslims believe that instruments are haram some believe that singing is. Personally in my family music is not haram and it is completely fine as long as the lyrics are clean and the meaning isn't haram. I personally listen to music and play piano and sing as well. Not everyone has the same beliefs and it isn't right as muslims to judge others for the things they believe in.
And that is where the problem comes in. If some Muslims decided to not listen to music, Alhamdulliah. However, those same Muslims will badger and harass others who do listen to music. Wahhabism has introduced nothing but fear, fear, fear and more fear into the Deen. There is no nuance of fiqh. Everything MUST be their way because they are the only saved sect of the 73. And they all repeat the same thing over and over and over. If you present them with something they cannot answer they get upset. There is no room for individuality or individual relationship with Allah (swt).

I think I may never get used to that... (I _hope_ I never do, too!)
Some "rules" make no sense. A "rule" that says music is haram makes no sense. A Muslim does not have to follow a "rule" that makes no sense. Especially when that "rule" has no backing from Qur'an. And especially when there are hadiths where Rasuli-llah (peace be upon him) expresses disapproval of poetry or verse that promotes gossip and scandal and other hadiths where he encourages his wife Ayesha to sing songs at a wedding for the Ansar. Some of us Muslims get too hung up on following "rules" and forget about common sense...No good...
There is a story about a wedding where Prophet Mohammed PBUH told two singing girls at a wedding to carry on playing after Abu Bakkar scolded them not to. So music isn;t haram to listen to music, but i was told it was haram if it pushed you to do something bad.
What if we listen Music that doesn't even have any bad words in it. Like "Coldplay - Fix You" and many more songs. And we even get motivated for study or for work. So is it still Haram?
Music could lost your focus at any time while doing any of daily deeds. No matter you are currently listening to music or not because your mind is singing when music is off so it's lost of focus. Even you don't follow Islam music is still dangerous for your mind. Music has a universal appeal. It transcend social, racial, culteral, and religious barriers, and gets to the hearts and mind of people, in a way that a religion, like Islam, will never able to do. Music is a taboo subject in Islam. Mohammed and the Muslim Moon God, can only play the second fiddle to the real Musical Greats, sitting in the back row, wondering what to do. The musical sounds they make will have a flat, discordant, unharmonious, sour note, completely out of tune with the rest of the orchestra. Mohammed playing the second fiddle, will be like that proverbial old dog trying to walk on its hind legs.

“Among my ummah there will certainly be people who permit zinaa, silk, alcohol and musical instruments…” (Narrated by al-Bukhaari ta’leeqan, no. 5590; narrated as mawsool by al-Tabaraani and al-Bayhaqi. See al-Silsilah al-Saheehah by al-Albaani, 91). This Hadis of Sahih Bukhari clearly shows that musical instruments are not allowed, since clear instructions are present about the prohibition of Zinaa, Silk and alcohol. If you still believe that there is no clear instruction or what so ever behind the prohibition of music, Let me remind you that there are two basic statements, Music is allowed and Music is not allowed. Lets assume that it is possible for either one of the statements to be true. But, for a man who does not listen to music, no matter which statement is true, its allowed or not, He will not face accountability in that regard. On the other side, if you listen to music and it turns out at the day of judgement that Music is not allowed, then what will you do? It is as simple as that. Avoiding Music is the best option, because even if we argue that music is allowed, there is still a possibility for it being forbidden and you are screwed if it turns out to be forbidden and you listened to it your whole life. And if you believe that there is no reasoning in the prohibition of music and therefore it shud be allowed, IF Allah wants us to avoid music, whether we can find any reasoning or not, whether any logic or not, we must avoid it, that is the criterion of faith. It is only now that science has made so much progress that many of the actions prescribed by the prophet have Logic or scientific value, 1400 Years ago, the companions followed it without knowing the benifits behind it? you know why? Bcz their prophet told them to, and they followed it to please Allah. As a Muslim, our faith should be strong enough to follow commandments of Allah without knowing their hidden hikmat and believing that following allahs command and prophets orders can only be to our benifit, even if we dont benifit from it in this world, we will surely get reward in the here after.
I simply love how he stresses on the fact that when you listen to music or do poetry, you're "generally" inclined towards committing sins. Prohibiting something with such shallow reasoning is absolutely absurd. The prohibition would have been justified, had there been any proof of absolute alignment towards committing sins on listening to music. Using the example of alcohol just shows how much of a bluff he really is. While it's pretty well known that excessive consumption of alcohol is very detrimental to health, I have yet to see anything similar with respect to music. As of yet, I've never heard anyone say, "My brother listened to music 8 hours straight and got a stroke yesterday" or anything to that effect. Also, the part about the interpretation of lyrics: I doubt this man has ever heard of the term "figurative." Because the way he seems to talk, it's only natural for me to assume that he doesn't. Not to mention, the Qur'an itself uses figurative speech. When a lover says they'll pluck the moon and the stars for their significant other, they don't mean it quite literally as interpreted here. Plucking of the moon and stars has been a common form of displaying affection in literature and has been around for quite some time. This obviously does not require an absolute dismissal and prohibition. Apart from that, even if you consider these lyrics "nonsensical," what about those songs that have a deeper meaning to them? Since I don't find him aware of the fact that there's more to music than just "a lover saying they would pluck the moon and stars for whom they love," I'll say music is *much* more vast than that. Because if he was aware of it, why didn't he include it in his "answer"? I can only think of one reason: it would go against his whole "nonsensical" argument. Another fact I'd like to point out: "Music" is defined as "vocal or instrumental sounds (or both) combined in such a way as to produce beauty of form, harmony, and expression of emotion." I'd like to stress over the words "vocal *or* instrumental." Ergo, an a cappella is a form of music and therefore, prohibited. Then why are azan and salat always read in a specific rhythm? I'm aware of the fact that an azan is a call for prayer, but why does it need to be read in such a manner, which makes it an a cappella (directly or indirectly) and thus, prohibits it?
+Allan Geffron Ever listened to Bach's music? Total beauty that warms the heart, leads to happiness, and makes a human a better person. Islam is madness. Naik is such a mediocrity.

The main points to note are: 1. People engaged in understanding and controlling the forces of nature and shaping their lives according to the Divine Law are Mumins and Muttaqees. They enjoy happiness in this world and will enjoy it in the next stage of life. 2. Those who achieve the conquest of nature but use their power for purposes opposed to the Divine Order are rewarded with success in this world for the time being, but have nothing to hope for in the future. 3. Those who turn away from nature and make no attempt to understand and conquer it, cannot attain human stature. They live a life of hardship and misery in this world and will find the way to progress blocked in the next world, for: Who is blind here, will be blind in the Hereafter, and yet farther away from the true path (17:72). Conquering the forces of nature and utilising them for the benefit of mankind in accordance with the Laws of God as revealed by Him, and thereby developing one’s own self, is the essence of Islam. This, and this alone, can ensure a beautiful heavenly life in this as well as in the Hereafter. This way of life is called deen. tolueislam.org/?s=dooms+day

There is a verse of the Quran directly that prohibits Music, Prohibition Of Music - 1) Evidence From The Qur'aan THE FIRST AAYAT The Qur'aan Majeed states: "And, among people are those who purchase talks of futility (lahwal Hadith) thereby misleading (others) without knowledge from the Path of Allah, and they make of it (Allah's Path) a mockery. For such people is the disgraceful punishment. And, when Our aayaat are recited to them, he turns away in arrogance as if he did not hear it; as if there are plugs in his ears. Give him the tidings of a painful punishment." (31:6-7) . TAFSEER OF THE AAYAT (1) Ibn Jareer reports that Ibn Abbaas (radhiyallahu anhu) said: "This aayat was revealed in regard to a man among the Quraish who had purchased a slave woman who was a singer (for the purpose of singing)." Narrating from Abu Salmah (radhiyallahu anhu), Imaam Baghawi (rahmatullah alayh) states:"Rasulullah (sallallahu alayhi wasallam) said: 'It is not lawful to teach girls to become singers and their price is haraam. In this regard was revealed the aayat: "And, among people are those who purchase lahwal Hadith...." Tirmizi and other Muhadditheen, narrating from Abu Umaamah (radhiyallahu anhu) said:"Rasulullah (sallallahu alayhi wasallam) said: 'Do not sell singing girls nor purchase them, and do not teach them. There is no goodness in any trade-dealing in them. The money thus acquired is haraam..... In this regard was revealed the aayat: "And among people are those who purchase lahwal Hadith..." The eminent Mufassir, Imaam Mujaahid (rahmatullah alayh) said: "The reference (of lahwal Hadith) is to singing girls and singers." In another narration, Hadhrat Mujaahid (rahmatullah alayh) said: "It refers to singing and every play and futility." (Ahkaamul Qur'aan) Hadhrat Abdullah Ibn Mas'ood (radhiyallahu anhu) who was a very senior Aalim among the Sahaabah, explaining this aayat said:"By Allah! Its meaning is singing." (As-Sunanul Kubra of Baihqi) The same is mentioned in Mustadrak and Tafseer Ibn Jareer. Imaam Ibn Jareer (rahmatullah alayh) narrates in his Tafseer that when people asked Hadhrat Ibn Mas'ood (radhiyallahu anhu) about the meaning of this aayat, he responded:"It refers to singing. I take oath by The Being besides Whom there is no deity but He.' He repeated this statement thrice." (Tafseer Ibn Jareer) Explaining this aayat, Hadhrat Hasan Basri (rahmatullah alayh) said:"Verily, lahwal Hadith refers to everything which diverts you from the ibaadat of Allah and from His remembrance, such as story-telling during the night, jokes, futility, singing and similar acts." (Tafseer Ruhul Ma-aani) In another narration, Hadhrat Hasan Basri (rahmatullah alayh) said: "This aayat was revealed in regard to singing and musical instruments." (Tafseer Ibn Katheer) The eminent Sahaabi, Hadhrat Abdullah Ibn Umar (radhiyallahu anhu) said: "It means singing." (Ighaathatul Luhfaan) This Qur'aanic aayat which severely criticizes lahwal Hadith, while it brings all forms of futility and nonsensical activities within its scope, specifically refers to singing and music. This is the unanimous tafseer of the authorities of the Shariah - the Sahaabah, Taabieen and Tab-e-Taabieen. THE SECOND AAYAT Allah Ta'ala states in the Qur'aan Majeed: "They(the Mu'mineen) do not attend zoor. And when they pass by futility, they pass by with dignity." (25:72) TAFSEER OF THE AAYAT (1) Commenting on the meaning of this aayat, Hadhrat Muhammad Bin Hanafi (rahmatullah alayh) said: "Az-zoor here means singing. Laith said so on the authority of Mujaahid............And, az-zoor is baseless talk and it also applies to baseless acts. Singing is of the greatest acts of zoor." (Shawaahidut Tafseer) (2) Imaam Abu Bakr Jassaas, commenting on this aayat said: "It has been narrated from Imaam Abu Hanifah (rahmatullah alayh) that az-zoor is singing." THE THIRD AAYAT Allah Ta'ala states in the Qur'aan Majeed: "And hound from among them with your voice whomever you are able to gain control over." (17:64) When shaitaan was ignominiously expelled from Jannat, he vowed to mislead the servants of Allah Ta'ala. In response, Allah Ta'ala made the aforementioned proclamation. The Mufassireen of the Qur'aan say that the meaning of 'your voice' in the context of this aayat refers to singing. Shaitaan has been given the ability of singing. He inspires his myriads of followers with his art of music and singing, thereby gaining an effective grip over their brains and hearts. With his voice (singing and music), shaitaan casts his spell over human beings. With music and singing, he deposits them into the dregs of immorality, futility and falsehood. Smitten by the spell of music and singing, people wander aimlessly in lands of fantasy and imagination. They are separated from reality and truth by the nifaaq which music and singing implant into the heart. Allah Ta'ala therefore, in this aayat, proclaims to shaitaan to proceed with his evil work using his voice. TAFSEER OF THE AAYAT (1) Hadhrat Mujaahid (rahmatullah alayh) in his tafseer of the aayat says: "With your voice, i.e. with singing." (Ruhul Ma-aani) (2) Allaamah Suyuti (rahmatullah alayh) states:"Mujaahid said: 'It means singing and musical instruments.' Hasan Basri (rahmatullah alayh) said: 'It refers to the duff.'" (Al-Akleel) It is significant that according to Hadhrat Hasan Basri (rahmatullah alayh) even the duff comes within the scope of this prohibition since he avers that the voice of shaitaan also applies to the sound of the duff. Since Hadhrat Hasan (rahmatullah alayh) was the Khaleefah (spiritual representative) of Hadhrat Ali (radhiyallahu anhu), he actively propagated the Math-hab of Hadhrat Ali in this regard. According to Hadhrat Ali (radhiyallahu anhu), even the duff is haraam. (3) Hadhrat Dhuh-haaq (rahmatullah alayh) comments: "It is the sound of the flute." (Tafseer Qurtubi) (4) Ibn Abu Haatim (rahmatullah alayh) narrates in his tafseer of this aayat that Ibn Abbaas (radhiyallahu anhu) said:"It refers to every act which invites to sin. It is well-known that singing is among the greatest acts inviting towards sin. Precisely for this reason has it been described as the voice of shaitaan." (Ighaathatul Luhfaan) THE FOURTH AAYAT Allah Ta'ala states in the Qur'aan Majeed: "What! Are you surprised at this speech (the Qur'aan)? You laugh, do not cry and you sing." (53:59-61) TAFSEER OF THE AAYAT (1) Imaam Abu Ubaid said that in the dialect of Hameer the word samood (from which the term saamidoon' in this aayat is derived) refers to singing. Hadhrat Ikramah also tenders the same explanation. (Ruhul Ma-aani) (2) Allaamah Ibn Manzoor says: "It is narrated from Ibn Abbaas (radhiyallahu anhu) that he said: 'Samood is singing in the dialect of Hameer.'" (Lisaanul Arab) (3) Abdur Razzaaq, Bazzaar, Ibn Jareer and Baihqi narrated that Ibn Abbaas (radhiyallahu anhu) said in the tafseer of this aayat: "It is singing in the Yamaani dialect. When they (the mushrikeen) would hear the Qur'aan, they would sing to show their disdain." (Ruhul Ma-aani) In these verses, the Qur'aan Majeed criticizes singing. It describes singing and music variously with the terms lahwal Hadith, samood and zoor. In one aayat it is described as the voice of shaitaan. From the Qur'aan Majeed it is abundantly clear that the general rule pertaining to singing even without music is prohibition. All the authorities of the Shariah from the very time of the Sahaabah, unanimously claim that the Qur'aan prohibits singing and music. There can, therefore, be no scope for difference on this issue. Any difference attributed to an accepted personality of Islam is undoubtedly an error of judgement

Through the ages, the reason why the eternal knowledge encapsulated with in the holy scripts from all religions of mankind got dwindled and diluted of their true essence is because of the narrow minded approach and subliminal understanding about the universal truth by many people, like zakir for one instance. The holistic intention to seek religious knowledge must be to grow from within and subsequently achieve superior content and there on eternal bliss, but unfortunately there are people who seek such knowledge only to compare and contradict with those of fellow faiths, thus failing or unwilling to understand their spiritual immaturity, ultimately end up debating and refuting with each other!! These days, the idea of a religion emanates from a hidden self-centered biased approach assuming no responsibility to the coherent consequences that arise out of such pursuances. In my opinion, there is a large difference between knowing your religion and actually practicing it, not for the approval of others but for the transformation of your inner soul. Not to experiment with religion but to experience it wholeheartedly. If one were to practice in an unconditional submission environment, others will duly follow such example and without any preaching!!

Read the Quran its Worth it. Trust me..
Eledin91 dear there is no mention of music being haram in quran n many hafith r a lie to promote suffocating strict wahabi thinking

Ok I am completely confused now. This video has a fair few views so I thought I would try here (don’t speak his language). SOMEONE who is *Muslim* please answer: Is music haram?
Edit: I think music is haram but only due to the views (maybe not personal opinions because they have given sources, although not all Hadith are Sahih [authetic]) of a few scholars.
The main points to note are:
They live a life of hardship and misery in this world and will find the way to progress blocked in the next world, for:
Who is blind here, will be blind in the Hereafter, and yet farther away from the true path (17:72).

There is a verse of the Quran directly that prohibits Music, Prohibition Of Music - 1) Evidence From The Qur'aan
THE FIRST AAYAT
The Qur'aan Majeed states: "And, among people are those who purchase talks of futility (lahwal Hadith) thereby misleading (others) without knowledge from the Path of Allah, and they make of it (Allah's Path) a mockery. For such people is the disgraceful punishment. And, when Our aayaat are recited to them, he turns away in arrogance as if he did not hear it; as if there are plugs in his ears. Give him the tidings of a painful punishment." (31:6-7) .
TAFSEER OF THE AAYAT
(1) Ibn Jareer reports that Ibn Abbaas (radhiyallahu anhu) said: "This aayat was revealed in regard to a man among the Quraish who had purchased a slave woman who was a singer (for the purpose of singing)."
Narrating from Abu Salmah (radhiyallahu anhu), Imaam Baghawi (rahmatullah alayh) states:"Rasulullah (sallallahu alayhi wasallam) said: 'It is not lawful to teach girls to become singers and their price is haraam. In this regard was revealed the aayat: "And, among people are those who purchase lahwal Hadith...."
Tirmizi and other Muhadditheen, narrating from Abu Umaamah (radhiyallahu anhu) said:"Rasulullah (sallallahu alayhi wasallam) said: 'Do not sell singing girls nor purchase them, and do not teach them. There is no goodness in any trade-dealing in them. The money thus acquired is haraam..... In this regard was revealed the aayat: "And among people are those who purchase lahwal Hadith..."
The eminent Mufassir, Imaam Mujaahid (rahmatullah alayh) said: "The reference (of lahwal Hadith) is to singing girls and singers." In another narration, Hadhrat Mujaahid (rahmatullah alayh) said: "It refers to singing and every play and futility." (Ahkaamul Qur'aan)
Hadhrat Abdullah Ibn Mas'ood (radhiyallahu anhu) who was a very senior Aalim among the Sahaabah, explaining this aayat said:"By Allah! I take oath by The Being besides Whom there is no deity but He.' He repeated this statement thrice." (Tafseer Ibn Jareer)
Explaining this aayat, Hadhrat Hasan Basri (rahmatullah alayh) said:"Verily, lahwal Hadith refers to everything which diverts you from the ibaadat of Allah and from His remembrance, such as story-telling during the night, jokes, futility, singing and similar acts." (Tafseer Ruhul Ma-aani)
In another narration, Hadhrat Hasan Basri (rahmatullah alayh) said: "This aayat was revealed in regard to singing and musical instruments." (Tafseer Ibn Katheer)
The eminent Sahaabi, Hadhrat Abdullah Ibn Umar (radhiyallahu anhu) said: "It means singing." (Ighaathatul Luhfaan) This Qur'aanic aayat which severely criticizes lahwal Hadith, while it brings all forms of futility and nonsensical activities within its scope, specifically refers to singing and music. This is the unanimous tafseer of the authorities of the Shariah - the Sahaabah, Taabieen and Tab-e-Taabieen.
THE SECOND AAYAT
Allah Ta'ala states in the Qur'aan Majeed: "They(the Mu'mineen) do not attend zoor. And when they pass by futility, they pass by with dignity." (25:72)
TAFSEER OF THE AAYAT
(1) Commenting on the meaning of this aayat, Hadhrat Muhammad Bin Hanafi (rahmatullah alayh) said: "Az-zoor here means singing. Laith said so on the authority of Mujaahid............And, az-zoor is baseless talk and it also applies to baseless acts. Singing is of the greatest acts of zoor." (Shawaahidut Tafseer)
(2) Imaam Abu Bakr Jassaas, commenting on this aayat said: "It has been narrated from Imaam Abu Hanifah (rahmatullah alayh) that az-zoor is singing."
THE THIRD AAYAT
Allah Ta'ala states in the Qur'aan Majeed: "And hound from among them with your voice whomever you are able to gain control over." (17:64)
When shaitaan was ignominiously expelled from Jannat, he vowed to mislead the servants of Allah Ta'ala.
TAFSEER OF THE AAYAT
(1) Hadhrat Mujaahid (rahmatullah alayh) in his tafseer of the aayat says: "With your voice, i.e. with singing." (Ruhul Ma-aani)
(2) Allaamah Suyuti (rahmatullah alayh) states:"Mujaahid said: 'It means singing and musical instruments.' Hasan Basri (rahmatullah alayh) said: 'It refers to the duff.'" (Al-Akleel)
It is significant that according to Hadhrat Hasan Basri (rahmatullah alayh) even the duff comes within the scope of this prohibition since he avers that the voice of shaitaan also applies to the sound of the duff.
(3) Hadhrat Dhuh-haaq (rahmatullah alayh) comments: "It is the sound of the flute." (Tafseer Qurtubi)
(4) Ibn Abu Haatim (rahmatullah alayh) narrates in his tafseer of this aayat that Ibn Abbaas (radhiyallahu anhu) said:"It refers to every act which invites to sin. It is well-known that singing is among the greatest acts inviting towards sin. Precisely for this reason has it been described as the voice of shaitaan." (Ighaathatul Luhfaan)
THE FOURTH AAYAT
Allah Ta'ala states in the Qur'aan Majeed: "What! Are you surprised at this speech (the Qur'aan)? You laugh, do not cry and you sing." (53:59-61)
TAFSEER OF THE AAYAT
(1) Imaam Abu Ubaid said that in the dialect of Hameer the word samood (from which the term saamidoon' in this aayat is derived) refers to singing. Hadhrat Ikramah also tenders the same explanation. (Ruhul Ma-aani)
(2) Allaamah Ibn Manzoor says: "It is narrated from Ibn Abbaas (radhiyallahu anhu) that he said: 'Samood is singing in the dialect of Hameer.'" (Lisaanul Arab)
(3) Abdur Razzaaq, Bazzaar, Ibn Jareer and Baihqi narrated that Ibn Abbaas (radhiyallahu anhu) said in the tafseer of this aayat: "It is singing in the Yamaani dialect. When they (the mushrikeen) would hear the Qur'aan, they would sing to show their disdain." (Ruhul Ma-aani)
In these verses, the Qur'aan Majeed criticizes singing.
Ok brother
Dont say lie it does not say anywhere in Quran that music is haram even ulama say this you are a lier
@@yasamini6346 i mean the brother's post explains it beautifully. Maybe perhaps sister you refuse to accept the truth.
May Allah guide us all ameen.
I don't agree with this
You understand bhai jaan.. But some Muslim can't understand. Ye isliye nahi samajhte hai kyu ki Dr. Zakir Naik bol rahe hai..
many people have to understand, asyhadu alla ilaha illallah wa asyhadu anna muhammadar rasulullah is far more important then reflections of the scholars (fiqh)…. Fiqh is the result of reflection scribe results for himself and those who believe….not for all mankind…ukhuwah islamiyah very important to be maintained and protected…. Qur'an should be the leader in earth…but I think not for everyone, because we still need a comparison .... good and bad ...
Where in hadith does it say music is haram? He did not quote or contextualize the hadith. Forgive me for I am learning but what he said was not enough to convince me that music per se is haram.
Wearing coat pant tie glasses using Mike is it not haram.????
+braj sharma What he does is halaal and the same thing done by others is haraam!!
Ha ha
Well said sirish jee.
