Just as a professional point of view, codes Some areas will not allow flexable pipe to be used and has to be ran completely in hard pipe because grease will be trapped in the creases of the flex pipe. Which causes a fire hazard.

What I did to make sure it was aligned with the stove was to find the center point of the stove top, then hung a plumb bob from the ceiling until it aligned with the center part of the stove.

That's a great idea, I'd never heard of a plumb bob before I posted this video. I'm going to try that next time for sure.

@@HomeFreeFamily -- Plumb bobs have been around for around 4000 years, since at least ancient Egypt... Even if you don't have a proper plumb bob, you can take a light string (e.g. mason line), tie a nut into the end of it, and drop it down from the ceiling... Maybe not as accurate as a true pointed plumb bob, but should be withing perhaps 1/16 or maybe 1/8 inch of the heavier pointed plumb bob as long as you don't have a lot of air movement (i.e. turn off any fans or HVAC vents nearby)...

A note for others: If you want to have the hood higher off the range, you can buy wider range hoods. Basically the width of the range hood and the width of the range itself determines how far off the surface it must be to vent the gases, it's not just a standard height for all ranges / hoods.

I also recommend using two of the stainless steel mesh filters. They will catch the atomized grease and smoke particles and then you can just wash the stainless steel filters a few times per year depending on how often you cook.

Matthew Levasseur when I installed mine , I installed a electrical outlet above ceiling which sits right on top of bracket gave it enough space to connect the power cord, I ran the power cord in between the frame and aluminum of the hood range. I made sure power cord wasn’t being squished or anything .i believe that’s why the bracket that mounts on the ceiling is not exactly in a square shape.
