I've built wordpress sites for 14 years, but I've never built a custom theme. This quick tutorial is the perfect explanation on creating a custom theme. Thanx!!
I can't believe there are any negative comments for this video. Hands downs, this is the best/simplest Wordpress tutorial I have ever seen. I thought this was something very difficult to do, but you did a great job simplifying it. Thanks!
There are negative comments because he left a lot out. This is a 5,000 foot view. If you have a site with multiple tabs, pages, etc., its not this simple.
This tutorial is freaking awesome and straight into the point in 7mins! Saved me hours of searching and following long tutorials than don't teach you the idea behind it.
I've been recreating HTML sites with Divi, and Genesis before that. I haven't needed to do a direct HTML to WordPress conversion yet, but this is easier than I thought it would be. I may try one for fun!
I like your Tutorial, but when you started to save your file, it seems as if it was skipped, not sure where to create this file, I'm using a Mac system, and I also have PC as well
Mr Digital makes awesome tutorials for coding a theme from scratch, but all I want to do is chop my existing theme up into a superlight version. This is absolutely perfect. Has saved me literally hours of rewatching old tutorials. Thank you. :)
This did more for me. I guess you will always have people who will have negative comments but you broke down something that will help me out tremendously. This is the reason I liked and subscribed this video itself showed me how to multiply my money.
I can tell by the number of views on this video that I am the one who is late to the party. I have been looking for this for quite sometime. Did not know how to ask the right question. Now I am where I belong.
Great Video. If I create a custom theme is it straightforward to modify it with Classic and Gutenberg editors and to integrate it with third party plugins?
Good day my dear, i have been looking for such a video for quite a long time. You are a true timesaver. You are covering lots of great things - that i wanted to learn. Therefore i want to thank you for your great video. Many thanks for the awesome insights you share. Outstanding. I look forward to the next video - it would be great if you come with more videos - egl Full-site-editing or some other future - topics. Imagine: in one month ( january 22 ) WP 5.9 is expected to get released with a bunch of new features. The global community will be thankful if you come up with some new videos that cover the cool things of the WordPress-Future. - Looking forward.
and what if the html content do not have any header or footer? what you going to place in index.php then? what the loop? really messy instruction. You hide alot of what we should do and deleted the content!
Uhhh you literally just took what I've been working on for hours and summed it up in less than 10 minutes...and it worked...magic I tell you magic! Thanks a bunch!
What about CSS? I have one particular page I'd like to add, but it includes quite a bit of CSS. Can I leave it in the head section or would I have to add it to the Additional CSS section?
So what do you do, If your code when you use sublime text 3 doesn't automatically sort the code. Making it easy to read.... Im on part 2 of option 1 pretty much at 4:13 you see the word main and i cant find that because its all mushed up etc.
One of the better videos on WordPress that I have watched! Concise and to the point. Excellent x 5 if you have previous experience in HTML, CSS, PHP and just need to understand the conversion high points.
For exemple if I want to add a custom CSS and HTML but without change the theme or create a new one, in the section page, and I'm able to add new plugin to integrate with that new page? I have tried to use a plugin "custom CSS and HTML" but it change all the theme is not just a page I'd like to change.
I'm not sure I understand one part. If you start with a WordPress theme and then import your own HTML website, does is replace the theme you started with, so you only have your original website?
Thank you for this wonderful concise summary of how to convert an old html website to wordpress. I have a html website which has great Google rankings and is often referenced by other websites. What I am worried about is that if I use your process and use the plug-in HTML Import2, will I end up with new URLs for each of my pages, which means I lose all my google rankings and of course the links from other websites. Does it mean I will then have to create redirects for every page - and my website has 300 pages!!! Please advise. Thanks.
I don't know where that cool folder is created. If I'm in file manager and create a folder, I can't type anything into it. And in my Coffee Cup HTML editor I can't either. Is this in WP on a page?
My question is kind of back wards . I have a site built in code ignighter. I would like to take the content over to word press how ever I would like the content taken over and new code applied?
Is there a beginners' course? I am a single user who may want to convert my index.html on the university server to WP. It is from 1995. It only has links to other html-files on my directory, lists, images, pdf-documents. I have no clue what CSS or PHP mean, or what a theme. I don't need to create A SITE, just convert my homepage while keeping it on the same server provided by my employer.
I Have one question. I want to that in our html file we have different links like Home Contact us on top which are further linked with different html files. How will we merge all html files in one theme?
got one question. I converted using 1st method but not entirely the same a little different, What I wana know is that, after converting to html to wp, is it possible to then edit it with elementor or other stuff that wp provide, or in which method we can use use elementor etc after converting to wp from html

This video said to me "move on, write theme". Thanks!
Short and sweet, I have a client site that wants to add blogs but I am too lazy to rebuild so this will be excellent.
