Converting my Coupé Boot to be Dog Friendly! (Cheap D.I.Y)

- As you may or may not know coupé boots are very impractical and not dog friendly at all! However we change that in this video, allowing us to put Pablo safely in the boot like any other car .. For a very cheap price (AND IT'S REVERSIBLE)
What we used to do this;
Heavy duty garden netting 5x1m from B&M - £4.99 (not on their website)

Different video for you guys today! I know it won't be to everyones taste but for all the dog owners and potential future dogs owners this might be very useful .. I wish there was a video like this when we first got Pablo 🙈
Toss a blanket on one half of the trunk. My pugs have boney little elbows that need some padding. Not only will it help to stabilize him when driving, but it'll help him stay comfortable. Great video!
He did say in the video that he was going to put a bed in there.

great video, really helpful :) i'm sure you wouldn't need this for pablo but if you have a dog in the future who could run off maybe a car restraint would also help t just means you don't have to worry about them running off when you open the boot :) our beagle has one because he will run off especially when he knows he's at doggy daycare because he loves to play with his friends :)

We got some scratches in our cars too from Biggie. Very nice, nice car tho. Pablo is already accepting it by laying down! I think he will be fine😃😃. Good boy Pablo.😚. That's a nifty DIY!!
You'll always get scratches somewhere, we're just trying to keep them in the boot where nobody will care when we come to sell it on in the future 😅 It's been so much better for him and he loves it now! 👍🏻

Thank you so much. I did not know about that law. I knew that dogs had to be secure which is why I have a harness and seatbelt but from now on no more passenger seat for my pug only the back seat when we drive. Pablo seemed to adapt to the boot quite well what a good idea you had. Enjoyed a different angle of your video I enjoy my cars too. Pugs and cars 😁Pablo is such a good boy.
Pugs and cars is literally my whole life 😂 He has settled in really well with it, thought he might be a bit nervous being separated from us, but now just gets in and gets him self laid down, occasionally hear a bit of Velcro unpeal when he forgets he can't get through but all in all he's doing well with it 👍🏻

Please do not leave Pablo unattended in the car. The temperature can rise to very dangerous levels within minutes.
Your idea is a novel solution of transporting Pablo from one place to another but remember to restrain him while riding. Even in the boot reconfiguration... maybe a crate would be as serviceable as your mesh system and you can use to seat belt to pass through the handle to secure it tightly.

We never leave him in the car ever, it's far too dangerous as you say! I didn't mention in the video but we tried a crate but the boot isn't tall enough to fit a crate in it's only just tall enough for him to stand up as it is, We hook his harness onto the boot restraints incase we brake super hard save him flying through the front 😊

You commented that the temperature will stay cool back there. With the seats down, won't the boot (ha! I'm American, so it's fun to write that!) have the same environment as the rest of the car? You'd never leave him in there without you anyway, right?
Oh we'd never leave him in there by himself ever! When we first get in the car the heat inside the car is created by the black interior but until we put the back seats down it's cool in the trunk (thats funny for us to write!), so when we first put him in it'll be nice and cool, but yeah over time it will climateise with the cars temperature. just have to keep putting the seats up and down :P
Just found your channel and this is the best youtube channel I have ever found! I've always loved pugs and I am trying to find a solution to getting a pug puppy for my family. My brothers and I are at school all day and my mum also works in a school but comes home at lunchtime for about an hour. How would a pug fit into our lives or would it be unfair on the pug? Maybe we could get a pug at the start of the summer holidays when we will be home and never need to leave the pug at home on its own? Pablo is so cute by the way and you must have trained him well!
Thank you 🙏🏻 We work at least 8-4 every day without coming home and Pablo is fine, so if your mum comes home at lunch times then that'd be great and a pug would be a great addition! I would recommend getting one at the start of summer holidays as you said as this would give you all plenty of time to train them and can get them used to being home alone before you go back to school. We took about a month of work when we got Pablo and got him house trained enough in that time to be able to leave him 😊

a lot of these people aren’t dog educated. he is not happy in a confined space made of metal under the sun all day. he is pushing on the mesh that’s all the signs i need to know he is trying to get air.
i’ve never heard of someone think about the trunk as somewhere to put your dog. that’s for hauling things not an animal

What about the heat in the back? Will it be cool enough?
There is separate climate control in the back with fans that we can direct directly into the boot space, and because there is no direct sunlight it stays nice and cool anyways, Perfect for him 🙏🏻
It's okay but in a crash he will be flying towards you at 20-60mph which could kill him, I'd have a custom made dog guard bolted into the car
have an accident or just brake hard and you create a dog shaped misile wrapped in netting!
get a proper dog crate for the car..

the trunk is the hottest part of the car even the roof of it doesn’t have protection it’s just metal. you can see your dog pushing it’s head out the mesh. there are no windows nothing but one opening that has to get air thru another small opening (the windows) this is so sad please take him out . he can’t even see anything. i have a scion fr-s it’s my dream car and i would sacrifice my dogs confort so drastically like this if he can’t ride where juman are supposed to ride you shouldn’t have it in the car. also pugs are already born with trouble breathing im sure the air back there isn’t so great. i felt bad for my dog since he is in the back seat but still has half of the front window he can reach. this just made me realize how better my dog has it then yours. never would i put my dog in the back like that and i’m shocked you did so . i always put myself in my dogs eyes and that i could not stand. sorry for your dog he deserves better
