The ecto is one of the best rtr out there. Just a cheap esc, i used the isdt esc70, and servo, I use a 35kg ebay, makes the ecto work like it should.
I lowered the shocks as much as I could. One of my favorites for sure
a group I run with swears by the ecto and zuul. when i looked at them myself in person, played a little with them. I said no. I think the price is too high for how they come in rtr. I think a better value is the enduro SE (same price as the ascent) and so much easier to upgrade compared to everything else I've seen.
Good video.. thanks for posting your thoughts.
I've been watching for a while, but this wqs a great video. Great honest insight and good lines. Un lock that ecto, mine kills it!
Like always always bringing the best thank you brother always information filled videos and awesome content you do a great job thank you brother
Thank you for this! I’m always looking for advice on my gatekeeper. Would love to see more on this truck! I would like to see some shock tuning with this too
Yeah the second time’s the charm, I’m back I had to go to the gas station and back that was awesome
That is an amazing mod. Cheap and easy. I am going to have to see if I can steal a tie or two for Ecto. I guess yours was not put together correctly, as my Ecto has been nothing but a pleasure to drive. I did replace wheels and tires though.
Man I love these videos Matt 👍👍😎 Hope to see more
See when you take your time 😁 That is a great spot straight down off of that backside of the rock love it
What a great idea. "KISS" I guess. Been using rubber bands, but this is great. You spent allot on it, please show us more of it
All the companies that make the option parts for our crawlers. They must be cringing at this video at all the money they lost. They would have come up with some contraction. That does the same thing. Then make it a set for the front and rear. @$40 bucks each!! They lost a ton of money!! Thanks For Sharing!!🙏🙏🙏👍👍👍
Thanks for the 2FM band mod!
Works great on my 10ii.
Heck yeah! I’m running the same on my ascent lol
@@2fmrc also added them to my BaseCamp but haven’t had a chance to run after adding them.
I'm a 1/24th only guy, but good vid and always give you a thumbs up!
I really appreciate that more than you know. It helps a ton! Thanks for the support 🙏
Yeah awesome Matt, I was fixing to ask what was that cage chassis sitting there all silver awesome I’ll watch for this build 👍👍😎
The shocks on mine were basically empty. They are really good with oil. I ran thicker in the rear with trailing arms. With shock tuning, my go to truck.
Yeah this one feels like they may be empty as well. Very soft lol
Happy New Years bro. I like your channel bro
Just thinking out loud here: Might be interesting to do a comparison with running those same hair bands as you've got them. But then try running just one in the center on each axle. I've see a number of guys in vid's run one or the other using office rubber bands, hair rubber bands and even just a static strap. It always seemed like having the band in the center sucked up the axle as desired, but let the wheels drop much freer and easier than with bands on all four corners. Kind makes sense. The band is at the pivot point, inline with it, rather than working against it at the end of the 'lever'/'momentum' arm.
Cheap to try and would be great to get your unvarnished thoughts on both methods.
Thanks Matt!
Bert
Yeah I should try it. My theory has always been on side hill the center strap lets the body still roll a lot vs on all 4 corners it stays planted better. The center strap definitely gives a bit more flex but it seems to still allow a lot of roll side to side. Works great for straight up hill or downhill though. I’ve ran both and kinda preferred all corners as long as they aren’t too tight but I’ve never directly compared them so that would be a good test to run.
@@2fmrc That makes sense regarding side hilling. Another variable, as a sort of 50/50 triangle might be with the band mounted to the middle on the frame and out to the ends (or half way) of the axles. Maybe. Definitely a rabbit hole of possibilities! LOL!
That axe system is way overkill for that little truck. That being said, it is going to be awesome watching thrash it like red headed stepchild, lol. Keep it up Matt, loving it
Haha! Thats exactly why I went with it 😆
Sweet man 💪
I asked my wife for a pair a hair bands to try this mod and she wanted to charge me $40 😂
Haha! Should’ve known that wouldn’t be free 😆
That's cool that she knows the market and what those bands are worth, my wife dgaf about rc anything haha
@@patrickgeorge4306 same with mine! Lol
That's too funny. I wish my husband or son would give a care about rc. My husband will help w installs when i get in trouble, but that's about it. I'm enjoying experimenting with bands on my ax 24.
Thanks Matt👍😉
Best mods I did to my Ecto, is ditching the trailing arms for 4 links... Night and day!
Yeah I kinda wanna keep the trailing arms on this one. Just thought it was cool for a hill basket type truck
AWESOME HOODIE!
Thanks! It’s super comfortable. A little thinner material which is usually what I prefer.
Hey Matt, wassup brotha! Cool vid! 👍🏻
Wassup?!!! Thanks!
Yeah I don't limit my rear end ever but my front end I always slim it but you know what I'm talking about bro I don't run 10th scale I run all 24th and 18
Awesome!!!! Can you lower the front to match the back? And where can i buy those bans😮😮
@@arni7810 I did the front and the back. I picked them up at the dollar general. Just regular hair bands for women lol
@@2fmrc 😅 oh ok, I'll do the same when I get it..can it fit a driver?
What a great idea, i
The stock motor, esc and transmitter are garbage (I replaced them with FUSION SE and DumboRC). The stock tires and the servo are mediocre, you don't need to replace them ASAP. Shocks need more oil in them, they are almost dry out of the box. Replace the two front springs with softer ones. Add 200 grams of weight to the front (e.g. via wheel weights). Overall, I think the Enduro SE is cheaper and a better platform to upgrade.
I agree 100% with the mods. Exactly what it needs!
Wait, what is that SCX6 cage!!!?? 😍
Vitavon 🤘🏼
@@2fmrc 😍 but holy lots of money!
Mine has fusion pro, a nice servo, steel wheels, proline tires with heavy inserts. Stock shocks and it sits fairly low and has only an interior and light kit on the body. The truck performs well though, closer to your banded than your stock on that first rock. I would like it a little lower. How is the 4 band better than banding the center (2 bands) ? I haven't tried either.
I like to band each corner because on sidehill a band in the center still lets the truck roll to the side sometimes. Where the bands on all 4 corners keeps it tucked better.
My friends have built red cats and this out the box with rc 4 wheel drive tires did better
They need help building those cats! Lol this is an ok truck but just ok imo. I didn’t keep mine long. Just wasn’t impressed
At all the videos that I watched it seems like all these RTR‘s. They’re CG is way too high and if it’s not way too high, it’s all over the place because of the untuned shocks
Yeah this truck needs the shocks tuned probably worse than any of the decent rtrs I’ve ran lately. It flops around everywhere out of the box lol
Oh man then you go and mess it up what 😁😁👍
You 100% need to sell these lol
I think he just did.
