Do you have any idea how hard you’re going to destroy some brains with this??? Oh man! Exciting! However here are some very important PRO TIPS!
1) just because this trick is technically easy don’t make the mistake of thinking it’s an easy trick. Your presentation has to be very strong to make sure everything is clear, otherwise it’s going to look wrong. At the end, when you make the statement about your “mistake” you really have to be convincing no matter what the outcome is. Your instructions have to be very clear every step of the way and most importantly the setup CANNOT look important! It has to be so casual that they forget it happened
2) when they show you the deck in the beginning, DO NOT STOP AFTER YOU’VE SEEN THE TWO FIRST CARDS! This will make it very obvious. Notice how in the video I asked her to keep going. The spectator must think you’re trying to see the whole deck not two specific cards
3) if you are doing this trick live. After they look at the card you can have them put the cards back and shuffle the whole deck. Then you take the deck and proceed as normal. You can also use a second deck for the reveal or write it down. Get creative.
4) very very rarely the two cards will be so close to one another that it will be hard to name a distinguishing feature (for example a 2 of hearts and a 4 of hearts) you have two options. The first is to flat out name the value (like take the 2 and say “your card was a 4 wasn’t it?”) the second option, which I prefer is, as soon as I see it i tell them “actually you know what? Your deck isn’t very well shuffled, shuffle them up and give them a cut.. ok now show me again, ok that looks better”
5) some of you are going to watch this tutorial and have a bunch of “what if” questions in your head. “What if they want to shuffle the cards?” “what if they mix the cards after they make a pile?” “what if they lie about their card?” “What if they tell everyone about the first part?” I’ve talked about this before. “What if...” questions usually indicate a lack of experience and audience management. If your audience is trying to mess you up this much you’re either presenting magic wrong or lack control over your audience. This usually comes from experience and again, this trick is technically easy, but is not for the inexperienced. You might want to come back to it after you’ve tried some more beginner friendly tricks.

I almost like the "your deck isn't very well-shuffled" line better than the initial excuse of making sure the cards look good on camera, since they never display their cards on camera like that in the actual trick. Maybe it could work well if at that moment during the setup you just said something like "now just start showing me the cards like so, I just want to double check they're well-mixed for the trick we're going to do." Would be curious what you'd think about that patter instead.

@@rjlacount you’re overthinking it. That’s like saying it’s weird to have someone say “mic test 1 2 3” for soundcheck because they never say that in the show. Nobody will ever remember the details of what you asked to see
I might actually just say "wait i think i forgot to take the jokers out", check the two top cards but then riffle shuffle to avoid any suspicion as it's quite simple to keep the top few cards the same in a riffle shuffle that way you can do the trick in one take. Great trick as always!

I agree with Eminem, I like the one shot method in person and obviously the pre trick method virtually as you have no way to touch the deck and it may get to monotonous and out of sorts for the participant to show you all the cards after they shuffle them to make sure jokers aren't present. Tip : Instead of telling her to deal 2 piles...you can tell " Imagine we are playing cards...deal down 2 piles one for me and one for yours...then ask her that what she wants your pile or her pile... whatever she can peek any of those...The idea behind presenting like a card game that she won’t think why I have to deal down 2 piles....And the trick will have a beautiful flow...Is this make sense?....Btw love your presentations ❤❤

I like the Allan Kronzek line "you're thinking of a black card?" Then if they say NO, "l wasn't either" and show the 8D. If they say yes, "I thought so. I'm just not sure about the value. Switch out the card in hand for the 7C and now your all set to reveal.

Such a fantastic, non-generic way to force a card. One thing I would suggest regarding the performance is please don't oversell how impossible the trick is by repeating every single step they took multiple times. Each time it's repeated after the first raises suspicion, which ultimately lessens the effect. Not that you can't do it, just be careful. That said, I love self-workers that can literally be hands off-they can often appear to be orders of magnitude more impossible.
This is really cool. So, during the presentation, I noticed the reverse count into 2 piles, and the "error", but I did not know that you did a warm-up. As soon as you showed the warm-up I knew exactly how you did it. The reason I like it, is because this is how some of the best ACAAN routines are done - with a pre-show or pre-routine check with participants.

Made me think of a trick you could do only on video calls. Have the spectator show the card to the audience while you look away and have a window showing the live recording with a 10 seconds delay. You look at the screen, the spectator has no way of knowing how you know the card, and basically you can have them do shuffles. If you plant 52 predictions in your background you could even reveal "look, this plant was behind me the whole time, I didn't touch it, and inside the pot I have 1 paper, look, it's... your card"

Before ive even watched the tutorial, i already know its gonna be gold 🕷🕸
@SpideyHypnosis I always place the 3 & 5 of diamonds at the bottom of the pack. Before I start the trick I go to the loo and "paint" a picture of the 3 of diamonds on my left wrist ( 5 of diamonds on my right wrist) using liquid soap and a cotton bud. So before I start I can riffle the cards a few times, a few false cuts etc. Then I say there's a witch on the pack and I want a volunteer to help me find it. I show them how I want them to divide the pack in two "random" piles. You deal out a few cards one on top of the next, throw away a few - be clear to say that these cards will be discarded. Go through the pack, dealing a few, then throwing away a chunk then dealing until you come near the end. Just make sure you deal the last three or four cards on top of each other. Now the 3 & 5 of diamonds are on top of the pile. Ask if they understand what they have to do. Place your pile on top of the discarded cards. Riffle shuffle keeping the 3&5 up top, one or two false cuts and off you go. Get them to deal out a few cards one by one. After 5 or 6 cards have been dealt you can get them to discard cards, throw away chunks, turn them upside down, whatever's fun. Just make sure the diamond 3&5 are on the bottom. Now discard the "junk" cards and get your volunteer to deal the cards into two piles left and right alternatively. The diamond 3 is now on top of one pile while the diamond 5 is on top of the other. Get them to choose a pile. It makes no difference which pile they choose. Just make sure before they choose that you tell them this is the pile they are going to be keeping and that the other pile will be discarded. Turn over the top card. It is of course either the 3 or 5 of diamonds. Then you go into your monty python routine of how do you know it's a witch - you burn her at the stake. I then proceed to burn that card and collect the ashes in a plate. They are all wondering what the hell is going on at this stage. Once the card is burnt dip your fingers in the ashes and rub it over your soaped wrist. The soap is of course dry now and a beautiful shilouette of either the 3 or 5 of diamonds appears "magically" on your wrist. This is really easy but the effect it creates is crazy. Play with it. Reinstate that they chose the cards. Act as if your afraid of the "witch", afraid of fire etc. You can have really good fun with this.

I know this video is a little old now (2 years) but here is another version:
Just memorize the FIRST card of the deck (not the 2 ones), predict this card (saying "I see a card...") BETWEEN the two phases of dealing, and during the revelation if it is not the good one (seems like a fail) ask the spectator to look at the top card of the second pile (it's the same as the prediction !) and ask him how he did get the card we had in mind (or something like "there is a connection between us")...
In this case I think it is good to play with the card the spectator selected in a next trick (ex: ambitious card), so the "prediction" become a bonus effect, not the trick itself.
But if you are on the good card (1 chance of 2) it is really great.
You can also force the good pile (look at which one is dealed in last) with a magician's force (for example).
Those variations can make this great trick re-playable in front of the same spectators.

You could just pick up both card possibilities in a double lift and if it’s wrong you can recover with a snap change if it is the other one
