What I liked the most of that trip, is that you guys did not give up and went back out there and even with some bad weather you got fresh fish to eat. Tight lines

Worked on a standby oil boat. We carried engineers from rig to rig and brought stuff out to the rigs for them...The first day it got rough and for 5 days I was so seasick I lost track of time...Capt. was so understanding, and my only duty was to take the rope off the rigs and stand by buoys. On the 6th day, it slicked out and I came back to life. I cooked breakfast and Capt. Frank Davis told the engineers if they cherished their arms and hands let me eat first...LOL...so I fully understand Sasha. I really missed her fishing outfits the next day.
She still rocks our world.

Years ago on my honeymoon, I convinced my new bride to go out deep sea fishing. It was a small boat and the seas were pretty rough, so just about everyone in our fishing party was getting seasick. Since the bite was slow and we were stuck on the water for several hours, we decided to make small talk and someone asked what I did for a living.
“I’m in the Navy” I sheepishly admitted (after barfing my guts out over the side several times…)
Moral of the story - don’t ever be ashamed to take some Dramamine before heading out to sea, ‘cause even Navy vets occasionally blow chunks when conditions are rough!

When going ocean fishing I always make and take along a couple of loaves of Irish Soda Bread. It'll settle your stomach and save the day. Easy to make too.

The Cajun way of ‘half shell’, is after you fillet it in half, run your electric knife between the skin & meat. Leave it together & grill then once it’s done, you can slide the meat right away from all the charred/burnt skin & scales. I remember my great grandmother doing like that without an electric knife with ease. I mess it up without an electric knife.

Fishing from the west coast with big tuna and pelagics, you want to bring the rod close to you. Don't leave it in the holder. Use those muscles.
You can then keep the line taut and bring the big fish in

I e been sea sick once on Lake Michigan as a kid. It was pretty bad for about an hour or two. My brother had to go to shore he was so bad. We were in 20’ swells. At times all you saw was water around the boat. No land.

Big difference between fishing the river and fishing the ocean.
For first timers in the ocean, Dramamine and one of the wrist bands with the ball in it are a must. Dramamine needs to be taken 2 hours before you go out. A tip to keep from getting seasick as long as you can see land, watch the land, not the waves. Watching waves makes your head go up and down. Your equilibrium is set in the middle ear, so being a bobble head will make you get sick, quick.
Depending on season, Mango,or Red snappers also called Rosies are a staple of local fishermen. Mahi-mahi, aka Dolphin, Wahoo or sword fish are good fighters and taste wonderful. Grouper are good, but the quotas and sizes change from gulf or ocean, and I can't remember what's legal or not.
Poor Sasha, she still tried to tough it out. Costco has meclizine for $3.50. Much better than Dramamine. Throw a bottle in the tackle box. I’d also throw a life jacket on. Crazy waves happen all the time. Flipping a mini boat like that is common. We need you all around

@@402Outdoors Meclizine 12.5 mg tabs. It’s what they give people for nausea. Works great. Scopolamine patches work good to. Put a patch behind your ear, good for 3 days. Nothing worse than sea sickness.
Or just use a lemon and smell it when she starts feeling sick there's lots of videos on it might as well keep it all natural

Keep dramamine in the tackle box just comes in handy , upset stomach aromatic bitters and can of sprite pour like 4 oz sprite in glass 4 dashes bitters knocks out most stomach yuk yuks in 15 mins

As much as she may not feel like it try eating something like crackers or bread and drink carbonated non alcoholic drinks this will help settle her stomach. Also hydrate the day before also avoiding alcohol.
