Years from now those kids will be able to look back and feel the pride they got from building their own home and it will always be their home. The lessons they are learning go deep. You two are fine examples of the America I remember and one we can have again. Great job.
Great family dynamic. No/low P&M'ing. All working together. And simple carrots like a trip for coffee or ice cream still work. Great stuff! Thanks for sharing.
You guys are doing a great job. I kept saying "tilt the scaffold" to get the thing through the doorway. If the wheels had come off like they should it would not have been a problem. Oh well, it all worked out just fine. Keep up the good work. Love watching your videos.
Don’t worry about how much cobbing you’re showing us. It makes me appreciate how much work you are all putting in. The persistence, hard work and determination of the whole family is amazing. Bravo!
When this project is done you’ll sit back and remember all you did and be so very proud of what you and your children accomplished. Fantastic job everyone.
It's amazing how mother nature works by giving us the things we need at our feet. ♡ Great job on the walls, they look sooo Good that I'm so jelly right now & The little tiny cob Critter statues are too cute!! My 2nd oldest daughter Ivy-Rose 8, her nickname is cupcake she kind looks like your youngest daughter but thinks like your older daughter about having a homestead with lots and lots of nature things as she is telling me to tell you all lol. It's amazing how much we have in common & never meet. One day will be lovely & It's nice to know we are not alone in our homesteader golds ♡♡♡
Your solar shed is amazzzzzing looking better each and every day! I love seeing your kids working along side of you and helping out. It gives me hope for our Nation.
Oh wow! That’s incredible! Love to see everyone on camera working together. ❤️😃 I can’t imagine how much an outing with a large family would cost. With just Brian and I it’s expensive! Great video once again! 🍾🥂
Butt crack of dawn 🤣. Favorite phrase of the day! 😉. You guys are amazing! I love that you keep you sense of humor in everything! It's important! Congratulations on the driving permit!!! Exciting! Love that you also get the kids involved with asking you questions. Fabulous!
I built my own house 1992-94. I was working a full time job but for a few months took a vacation day every Friday. I worked every evening, all day F, Sa, Sn for 2 years relentlessly. I was nailing outside below freezing until I couldn’t feel my hand before I would quit for the night. But I did it!
Congratulations on your cobbing progress! Our advice on ventilation. Put in twice or three times as much as you think you need. Clerestory windows that open, and windows down lower that open. Make sure one set of windows is on the side of the building that gets the prevailing winds and one set is on the opposite side of the building. You can always cover windows with insulated drapes if they let in too much heat or cold. You do not want a cave with no light or air movement.Good Luck! We will be watching!
Watching this build all the way makes me understand why stud frame walls are a thing. Seeing recent lumber prices makes me understand why dirtbag walls are a thing.
I like seeing the kids get more involved. I am still learning their names. Maybe they can do little projects of their own when the builds slow down. Good to see your oldest driving now. Was wondering about the coffee shop visit. Looked like soap opera drama, sideways looks, etc. Those scones(?) looked delicious.
The scaffolding will fit through the door... Put the platform down so its about 2 ft off the ground, as you move it toward the door lift the back end of the scaffolding so that the top front goes thru first, then go forward til you get to the end of the scaffolding and lift the front... I guarantee it will work..
I am enjoying these videos SO MUCH! My goal is to start a full scale cob and straw bale home in about 3 years and my husband and I have 3 young kids so your videos are really inspiring me! 💗
I would have shade cloth strung over every surface in a half mile radius - also, if you had dug your earth from the one spot, you could have the makings of a fine pool ;) ( under shade cloth ofc )
You guys are doing an Awesome job 👍👍 I will SHOW UP .. never enough cobbing 🤣😂 Kids are killing it too 👍👍 cute kittens .. Husband loves Brooklyn 99 so he gets it right away 🤪 God Bless All 🙏😇💖 Have a good Break Well Deserved 👍👍👍
You guys are totes adorbs!!! You make my day. I’ve been watching for about a month or more. Still have no idea what I’m looking for on Wednesdays! I’m kinda ditzy! I’ve finally learned everyone’s names! Yayyy! Go me!! I finally heard Jett talk for the 1st time tonight, I think! You make the cutest kids!!! I was watching sporadically for the dailies for a long time & intermittently watching the loooooong videos on solar & permaculture & the whole shed build & the new solar cost video… so, I think I’m caught up! Now I’m addicted & I feel my day is incomplete without seeing you, so I’ve really started noticing the weekends. No bueno! I can’t figure out how to watch live on Sundays, cuz I mentioned that whole ditzy thing. I can’t even make blonde jokes cuz you all are blonde, except Jax, who is totally the coolest cuz his hair is darker like mine, but he’s smart. You all are smart! Jonathan’s a frickin’ genius! Nine nines (sp?) is the cutest, the color change in fast mo was weird to watch! My nephew had a lizard named Nines. I really want to send you cobalt blue wine bottles we have here. I know why I can’t, but it’s sad that people would descend on you if they knew where you were. I’d probably be one of them & go all fan girl on you guys! You rock! Take care! Great job editing!!! Love the walk & talks! ♥️
I don't think you need to apologize. It is what it is. The rest of it took longer than anticipated... why shouldn't this. Three to four days of hard work... everyone working together, I think you'll be very happy with the finished product. It may not seem like it NOW, but you will. Thanks for sharing an honest account of what it really is like. That's tired... too tired for sheganigans. BTW, your music is AWESOME

Congrats on the driver’s permit! Nice job driving, too! Very impressive work on getting all that cob applied despite the heat. Such a shame it’s so muggy in there ... on screen it looks like it would be nice enough and cool in the shade.
Yeah 108 outside today, uuuuggghhh!! But the good news is we installed a new ac from Amazon...so we'll be ok. I love your whacking bucket...maybe upgrade to a whacking 55 gallon drum for the house!
Good reason you are tired so much work your family have done! I can’t believe have fast you move around in these videos hyper speed LOL. Thanks for posting I look forward to all your videos
If you tip the scafford to the side, put the top through the door, then raise up on the bottom, it will go through the doorway. then do the same to the other side.
I would have named these two adorable kittens Wind and Turbine. No more questions on the subject... Et voilà ! 🤭 You’ve done a huge work in four days, bravo!
At the first of the video, you mentioned you'd lost the left over cob. If the problem with it was fermented cob, I believe that makes it special for the top coat as it's smoother. I understand the professional cobbers in Japan allow their top coat cob to ferment up to a year! So possible you might want to rehydrate it later.
@@TinyShinyHome That's right. I remember you liking Chick-fil-A in past episodes. Chipolte has a wonderful vegetarian burrito. Certainly a hearty meal. Is there anything you like on TJ's menu? Photos looked good. Curious.
Good job guys and some serious learning for the house design; massive amount of cross ventilation and massive amounts of shade. That will make climate control much easier and the more openings you have the less cob you'll need.
You guys should buy an EZ Loader that hooks to your tailgate to unload your Clay they're really cheap and it worked awesome I've had two of them I've pulled out two tons of broke up concrete on it
Your getting a lot of heat gain through the roof. Don’t know if you intended to insulate but R19 batts in the lid would mitigate the heat. If those are 2x8 you might get R25 up there. That earth bag construction should be quite an effective barrier to heat but that open ceiling is selling you out. Also the open doors. If you can open up at night but close up before sunrise it might work well for you. Finish the envelope and your level of comfort could go up.
Oh My God!! It's going to take us like 1-2 years to build our hyperadobe earthship. Thanks for the reality check. Oh well, maybe you guys could drive over the mountain and help us for a few days (crossing fingers). If I can only get my 12 year old son to help us. (wishful thinking).
