- In this video, I would like to share my journey with you. It's magical to see how far I have come; life is truly full of surprises. While making this video, I was reminded of many things, and it also gives me strength for the challenges ahead. There are still many details in each period of my life, so feel free to tell me which part you are interested in. Please also share your story in the comments if my journey made you think of something.

This video is similar to what happened to me. I was from a humble family from Syria and we left our homes because of the war. Years later, I decided to learn languages and began to improve my English in Syria, knowing that there was no internet or electricity. Every day there was an hour. Only one electricity and the rest of the day without electricity. I studied high school and decided to travel to Russia to learn the Russian language, and now I am in Finland and I am trying to learn the Finnish language and I want to study languages when enrolling in university and Thank you for this wonderful channel. I have been following you for several years, and this story inspired me very much

I'm an Ukrainian teenager who will learn five languages in the next five years. Although it's slightly challenging to live in Ukraine with the current situation, I don't give up on my learning and life. Hard work, sooner or later, will bear delicious fruit.

I have listened to your story on your Chinese channel and I am glad that you posted a video about it here as well, with much more different details. I felt so moved by your emotions and noticed your eyes almost in tears at some points. Thank you so much for taking courage and sharing your story. Thank you for showing us what has been behind the scenes, the difficulties you have been through. Your "weaknesses" and how you overcome difficulties help people relate more to you and even find solutions and encouragement for their lives. Personally, I would like to hear more stories from your life about anything, especially how did you overcome certain challenges. I would also like to know how do you prepare for an exam (ex. Study methods, routines), how to heal from burnout, what are your future plans after completing your PhD. I would also love to see your daily routine videos of different day sequences. By the way, there was such a video on your channel, but now is unavailable and I am so sorry. Everytime I feel unmotivated, watching your routine gives me a fresh motivation. I have been through my last BA year with a lot of inspiration taken from you. Maybe in one video you would like to share with us how your teacher life and goals look like. A very emotional story zoe. I really loved hearing the challenges you overcome to become who you are.I could feel the pain in your voice when you were saying your health became poor because of over work. A good decision to reduce your workload and pay for health. Regarding study abroad, even I gave up my dream for study abroad seeing tuition fees in US. It is only after I got know about tuition fees in Europe that fulfilled my dream.And yes it comes with the caveat of learning the local language.And from struggling to learn French you have now become a polygot.So proud of you!!!

I come from a regular family as well and they have a fixed mindset, even now. my mom and dad couldn't effort for me to have a higher study so I have worked so hard, no party, no shopping at all just to save up and pursue my dream which is studying abroad and see how big the world is. انت شخصية ملهمه للغاية 🤩بعد كمشاهدتي لبعض فيديوهاتك , وجدت أننا نتشابه بمستوى اللغة الانجلزية قبل تعلمك الذاتي لها , افكر منذ العديد من السنوات باتقان اللغة الانجليزية لكني لم التزم على الاطلاق ,قبل نهاية العام الماضي ادركت جديةالموضوع وخصوصا ان لغة التعلم بالجامعة هي اللغة الانجليزية , واليوم ومع انطلاقة العام الجديد قد بدأت بتعلمها اخيرا وايضا تعلم الالمانية من الصفر , اللغات تحدي كبير جدا وخصوصا مع الاشخاص اللذين يواجهون صعوبات في تعلم اللغات امثالي , انا عازمه على ان اكون ناطقه بثلاث لغات , واتمنى ان اكون في احد الايام ناطقة باكثر من ثلاث لغات

The growth mindset concept is one that really resonates with me, as I've felt that my career wouldn't be what it has become without that focus and belief foundation. This was such a touching story, thank you SO much for sharing it. I also have a love for languages and I started with Chinese :). It has been officially 3 years and I still struggle with holding a conversation with Chinese people. I am familiar with a good decent amount of characters and I do immerse heavily on watching Chinese dramas/movies in order to acquire the language better. There have been times that I just want to quit but I realize that I have come far in this language. I may not be where I want to be but I am not where I was, so that keeps me going. I have invested so much time trying to learn Chinese that I cannot go back, nor do I want too. I also have been studying Persian, Arabic, Russian, Thai, and a small fragment of Japanese, and I took up German for college this coming fall, because they did not have Chinese so I went with German. I did German last year and failed miserably because I did not put enough time to study due to work (which requires long hours of sitting down, sedentary job) and having one kid, a single mom, so it was SO very hard for me and challenging. How do you manage to study all of those languages, go to school, work and actually achieve that level of proficiency? It's so amazing. I am very inspired by your video, and I hope that one day I will get to that level in the other languages that I am currently learning. Thank you for sharing your video, it was truly the highlight of my day.

满含热泪的看完了up的故事，之前在b站就关注了up，在UA-cam看到up果断关注了，感觉我和up的很多想法都很像，只不过我目前的人生阶段停留在有出国读书的想法，但是并没有更深层次的了解，只停留在觉得好像外面的世界更大，更好。从小县城到北京读书的过程中，我感觉到了那种带着疼痛的成长，高敏感人群在大城市感觉压力很大，但是也伴随着压力成长了很多。目前在跟着up的建议学习法语，告诉自己不要着急看到成果，先坚持下来再说，希望等我攒够钱，学会了语言，可以一步一步越来越靠近自己喜欢的up！（最后up主太美了，是那种光看着她说几十分钟话都会觉得赏心悦目的程度，太喜欢了！）

I had a similar experience to yours when I studied in Germany. I became fluent in German by immersing myself in all kinds of activities when I wasn't in class. It was so painful but satisfying. @@linamohsen7267 I really admire people that are brave enough to learn chinese. I struggle so much with Kanji in japanese I can't imagine adding something as difficult as tone on top of that.
My native langage is french even though i speak arabic at home. I tried learning turkish for about a month but i was lacking consistency so much i rapidly gave up. Which arabic country are you from ?
@@So_hmz thank you, dear. If you get to know Chinese you will be astonished by very simple aspects of the language such as grammar. However of course it has its difficulties. Mostly the tones and pronunciation. Then the writing system. But at least the writing system is consistent. Unlike you Japanese learners who have to deal with 3 writing systems

So, i had a better start than you though, because i learned different values in Europe from the very start of my life, still my parent‘s mindset kind of held me back in my development in comparison to,other people here - so i can imagine, how many burdens you have put behind you on your way. Congratulations for that! 🥳 You are very inspiring.
Also i am glad that you‘ve mentioned how long it took you to reach a proficient level in Arabic. I love the culture and the language, but it really broke my self-esteem. I started over and over again, but it won’t stick to my head. If you say that after one year it was still not enough, i feel relieved that I am not dumb.

Your story is so inspirational as well as your positivity through it all. I haven’t found many videos that talk about the part of moving to new country that is really lonely and isolating when you can’t express yourself well in a language. I also moved to France/Mayotte and have found my confidence has tanked from not being able to make friends or to express myself at work in the same manner as before. Very interesting and inspiring story. Thanks for sharing. I'm in the process of studying in a foreign language. I perceive the difficulty, but I try to stick to the one little goal at a time. It seems reasonable and doable. I agree with the growth mindset you talk about in the video. I experienced something similar, although in my case I always knew I could learn everything. It's just that I needed a shift towards an "apply and commit to that" mindset.

2 years ago I realized that it was the hardest times that were the happiest... I am 83... worked 45 years with social work in Africa and East Asia... and yes many many lessons I learnt ... When I ''retired'' at 71 I started studying Math, and Physics... Biology... the last 5 years Archaeology... Early Man how did he survive the hard life, the changes... what can we learn from him... I learnt... it is in struggle we grow.... and ....to understand archaeology you need to understand both the climate what makes it change and geology... so now I have added Geology and Astrophysics... never ending .... amazing what we don't know ... And I started making videos of what I learn... .... .........

This was the most motivational video that I ever watched until now. I was struggling with my life recently, feeling unmotivated to continue and pursuing my dreams due to some personal issues. I can feel your struggle when you first came in France, because they were my own when I started living in France. I'm living in this country for 7 to 8 years now and I'm currently studying History at university in a Master degree.
The best advice that you gave in this video was the moment you said that you have done a lot in your life and you went so far to stop at that point. Indeed, I can't stop here when I suffered and worked hard to arrive where I am now.
Thank you so much for your advices and yes, your life was a motivation for me to pursue my dreams no matter what.

Don't know if you will notice this comment, but thank you a lot for sharing your story. After hearing your story, I found that I had an experience really similar to yours. A Chinese kid who dreamed a lot about the life and studied abroad for his own dream. However, instead of being so confident, I'm a real loser with mental problem now. This year is also my last PhD year. I spent 7 years living and studying in Spain for investigating how to learn and teach Spanish more efficiently, but sadly I end up moving back to China because of family issues and now struggling to get an ideal job. I'm feeling right now so lost and keep questioning my decision, I spend days and nights wondering if I've wasted 7 years of my life for nothing, cause some of my family members consider me as a failure. I quitted the gym, refuse social activities, lock myself up in my room hating myself. Then today I found your story on UA-cam, and it really helps me to get myself together. Thank you very much Zoe! And hopefully one day I'm able to come back and say I made it.
To me, learning new languages and discovering different cultures is interesting! But in taiwan, parents would more likely to see their children study engineering or medicine. As a result, study new language isn't a common thing among my peers. Your story had inspired me very much, making me more certain about the idea of study French!
