Ingredients:
- 2 tablespoons oil
- 1/4 teaspoon cumin seeds
- 1/4 teaspoon mustard seeds
- 4 dried red chilies, broken into pieces
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper powder
- 1/4 teaspoon cumin powder (Jeera powder)
- 1/4 teaspoon turmeric powder
- Salt to taste
- Lemon-sized tamarind soaked in water and squeezed
- Water
- Curry leaves
- 5 cloves of garlic, smashed
Instructions:
1. Heat oil in a pan over medium heat. Add smashed garlic, cumin seeds, and mustard seeds. Let them splutter and wait for the garlic cloves to turn golden brown.
2. Add dried red chilies and curry leaves. Sauté for a minute until fragrant.
3. Pour in the tamarind squeezed water.
4. Add salt, turmeric powder, cumin powder, and black pepper powder. Mix well and boil for 5 minutes.
5. Serve hot as a soup or with steamed rice.
