    I also ran into the video codecs problem. After trying multiple solutions that didn't work consistently, I gave up on obsessing about fixing it on the OS level and just removed Firefox with swupd as a system package and installed Firefox as a flatpak. Everything works now!

      As far as I could tell, all that was in this video was from the Clear Linux webpage itself.

    I have an amd machine with 14 gigs of memory and tried clear linux on it earlier tonight. I also require a screen reader since being totally blind for this whole life. Apparently no screen reader on the live-desktop iso and amixer set Master 100% unmute;alsactl tore;aplay /usr/share/sounds/purple/login.wav produced no sound from 3.5MM connected speakers. Normally when people like me find a desktop screen reader it comes on with one of three differenttttttttttttt commands. alt-super-s, alt-f2 orca , or alt-f2 screen-reader sometimes espeak espeak-synth=soft or espeak espeak.synth=soft brings up a console screen reader as a boot parameter. You might have s or speakup as a boot parameter or a long time ago with ubuntu control-s to bring up a desktop screen reader I have to try that one since I haven't thrown the coaster out yet. One linux version did control-alt-o to bring up a screen reader. Finally fenrir start may bring a screen reader up. So far, this hasn't yet worked.

    Nice video dear TechHut, as usual! Personally, i think people who comes from Windows (that's not the topic of the video of course) like me, they will be in paradise with Mint: everything works out of the box, and most of time you don't have to touch the Terminal once. That's exactly (always in my opinion) where devs from different distributions have to focus a little bit more, because a lot of users don't wanna mess with the Terminal and don't wanna put efforts to learn it, simple because they don't and wanna focus only on productions. It's true Terminal is a crucial part of every Linux distro,and nothing can mess-up if you operations from there, where GUI sometimes can break stuffs. That's my personal experience, i wanna share with you all guys.
    Keep it up dear, awesome videos! /thumbsup

      I love Linux Mint as well as Fedora's cinnamon spin. Those two are a tie for me as my favorite Linux distros. I find that when it comes to doing a full distro upgrade, Fedora's .rpm based tool is far faster than the Mint (Ubuntu) .deb based tool. Not sure why but .deb distros take forever in a day to update, especially on older machines (not talking about the downloads, rather once the files are all downloaded and the actual updates are being installed).

    One other thing you should have mentioned when installing, Clear OS takes over the entire drive --- very much like every Windows install does (except 11). I was able to install Clear once within a designated partition, but I had my drive cleared first so as not to lose any any other system. They may have "fixed" this by now, it's been over a year since I last tried out Clear on a system drive.

    • @mitko17
      @mitko17 2 роки тому

      I used Clear Linux like... an year ago and you could set the partitions yourself so I dual-booted it with windows.

    • @penboyasgod6103
      @penboyasgod6103 2 роки тому

      @@mitko17 I was finally able to finally install it in a specific partition. But the instructions say specifically that it will take up an entire boot drive (just like Windows) and advise one to allow a clean/clear drive for the clear boot installation. If you don't know/understand the nuances of partitions, you can easily ruin any system installation.

    Brief version is NO. Lets just say it's one of many which i gave some fair try i think, m'well: on a CherryTrail portable transformer, e.g. the type which requires Ventoy to boot-load verions that start via SysLinux instead... It's no specific thing, there's been over two dozen .ISO downloaded and evaluated on this particular machine, having to resort to Rufus at times, YUMi-UEFi at others. I'd probably need a computer to manage installing Linux on my tablet - of which the touch screen never worked anyway, but it's full-HD and TV + BT headphones are enjoyable until some auto-destruct sequence is engarged... So-called Linux FirmWare updates for exemple. Well, at least it's free for the trying, imagine if it were a microsoft license!

You don't even know what */etc* and */var* is therefore you call/pronounce them weirdly. */etc* is not "et-see" --- it's "et cetera [and so on/forth] [an abbreviation]" ..... and */var* is not "vour" but is short [an abbreviation] for _variable[s] --- var._
    Also (and you're not the only one doing this), "linux" *in American English* is pronounced with a LONG i [because it's followed by only a *single* consonant] and NOT a "short i" [because it should be followed by a *double* consonant] -- _regardless of how Linus Torvalds pronounces it in his Scandinavian language._
