I saw a Brit guy on U-tube hang a box from a tree for squirrels. Open at both ends. He had two nails inside (placed before he made up the box ) to hang the trap. Then peanut butter wiped on the trigger wires. It works nicely for squirrels. I am making some boxes tonight. Damn squirrels chewed a hole in my roof. I heard them and saw them doing it. But when I went out to pop them with my pellet gun they ran off fast ! So I fixed the hole they started by stuffing chicken wire in with some smelly dryer sheets. They have not come back . But 5 am still going to trap them though! FYI thanks.
Hey Ken check out a petco or similar pet store they carry a tube of peanut butter used for dog treats they also have other flavors too. It is similar to a tube of toothpaste (made by Kong) usually by the dog treats. It might be an alternative to using the single serve peanut butter. You can use what you want then close it up and throw it in your pocket and not have to worry about a open pack or wasting any. Just a suggestion might be something to check out.
Thanks dude!!! I got possums eating at my roof and was looking for an inexpensive way of getting rid of them. There's also pets in my neighborhood...this is the perfect setup!!! Question: how far back is the groove on the side cut? And how do you keep your conibear traps from rusting? I just got 6 in the other day and hadn't done anything to them yet.
You will want to leave them out in the rain for a night or so to get a little rust on them then you spraypaint them a natural color(camo,Brown ect) the rust is so the paint stays on them longer
I am curious how you did trapping last year. Are you planning on trapping again this year? I would recommend using some "Duke" dog proof traps for raccoons. You will catch the occasional opossum but it really does eliminate other unwanted catches. Use a marshmallow, not fish or cat food. Fish do catch neighbor cats!
This looked like a super idea to keep deer from getting in my traps. No deer but some kind of critter has been removing the Conibear 110 trap from the box and setting it off. It then gets the bait out of the box. Frustration...
John W, Sounds like you've got a two-legged anti-hunter stalking you. Some would set a trap just for them. "Some"...lol. Find out rat-quick what kind of critter you've got. . . .
You know, if you turn the trap box around where the groove(s) face to the rear, you don't need a stick. When the animal tries to pull back out, the spring won't let it go anywhere since the trap just fits in the box.
Very nice to see a nice young kid not making trouble in the city and having fun in the wild. HUNTING SAVED MY LIFE.
Watching you crunch around in those oak leaves gets me excited for fall!

Always great to see the Young Bushcraft Titan...cheers.
Solid video. Well done. Keep it up. Keep telling the story.
Good video young man.
Nice box. Imo I would anchor it better. If a raccoon got in it would be gone imo.
that's very cool - LIKED & THX!
Great video!
Looks like you putted a new handle on your hatchet,it looks really nice

Oh well.

Your wiskers are backwards you should spin your trap around
Why don't you smear that pb on one of those leaves and toss it in there instead of a stick that can be taken?
*scent
what are you trapping
ummm....did you EAT those poor little animals??!!!
You set the trap inside with the safety on!
Dale Pope There is no safety?
My 110s have no safety ! Do they make safetys ?
This is a good video but u could probably catch more if u tried not to leave as much sceng
Put a screen on the back
kenny u might trap a cat they can get in to small spots
no backing on the box to keep them from goin and stealin your bait out of the back
This kid has the jitters bad. He needs to calm down.
What about a bird getting in there and accidentally setting off and tragically killing a small bird?
Use it for bait
