I have one and it blooms continuously throughout the year. It is constantly forming buds and the fragrance is simply intoxicating!. It fills my bedroom and wakes me at 1am to go out and indulge in her beauty. Trick to getting her to bloom is keeping solidly dry, and dunking her in water whne the leaves get dehydrated. It really is a spectacular display that has blessed me with over 47 blooms at a time.....
I have this plant and have started about 10 more from same plant. Once they start to bloom they continue each year and they bloom for around 6 months in California. I just love it, most spectacular flower from any plant. Thanks for sharing your wonderful video. Mine has color throughout the inside and watching them open and display is great!
Hello, We have a same flowering plant in our house garden. for many years, to be exact from 2004 onward. The plant first bloomed, 2 nos in 2006. Since then it has been blooming almost every year. when we started dating the plant more , it started blooming more often and the number of flowers also increased. And a miracle happens in 2019. our plant bloomed FOUR times during the year 2019. The flowers bloomed on 02nd July (5 nos), 12 August (4 nos), 30 st (4 nos) and on 23 December (4 nos). Thus a total of 17 flowers within a matter of 171 days . But the most exciting thing is, if you take the gap between two successive blooming, you will find that the gap between 02nd an the 3rd blooming was only just 18 days.
Excellent video. I started two plants from cuttings my cousin gave me in summer of 2018. I am very excited because I have just noticed their first flower buds popping out in summer of 2021!
Interesting ... I have both Selenicereus grandiflorus and Epiphyllum oxypetalum planted in the yard, here in Florida and both of them flower multiple times each year. It depends on the rainfall and general weather. Also, some orchid bloom booster fertilizer seems to help.
Felicitaciones !
I just got mine from my Mother in law whom very exited told me She had seen it bloom for the first time and just for that one night so knowing I'm a plant lover she gave me one..... so happy and looking forward to see it bloom in my garden. Thanks for sharing.
I just got a stem and planted in soil. It is the most. Spectacular plant I have ever seen. I just love it. Sunlight and water that is all she needs. Shirley Wall
@@anujaiswal7342 I've had these blossoming for the past twelve years (typically I get 12-15 flowers in a season). They bloom at night from 7-9 (flower starts to open) and droop around 4 am or later. Full opening is about midnight to 2 am. Rarely (perhaps once or twice), they have opened later (midnight-ish) and droop at 6 or 7 am. So a bit of variation (depending on weather conditions) is not unusual.
Thanks for confirming that. My Epiphilum Floribundum flowered on the evening of June 8 the for my birthday!!, the flowers stayed for a few days. My Selenicereus Grandflora flowered last week in the middle of the night and the bloom was finished by dawn but soooo worth seeing and even more impressive then the EF.
I have one of these plants , and it is just flourishing fourth time in these season, now has 14 flowers,it is in Montenegro in my garden. It has never had so much flowers, usually 3-5.
No,it is in my weekend cottage on Adriatic sea, during the winter it is under the balcony, just to protected from severe Bura wind, and than in april or may i I put it in the garden in the shade of oak and and up to the summer it is for himself, dependent on the weather conditions.
I have had mine three years, this is the first time it bloomed. It was worth the wait. I took the advice of a friend, and with held water in January, then started watering again in Febuary. It had blossoms the size of dinner plates! That was last month. Now, it has twelve more buds! I am truly happy. Note: It has to be root bound to bloom, so resist the urge to repot until not blooms or buds are in sight :) Good luck!
I love this video! The music is perfect. It is like the flowers are awakening and dancing to the music. I hope my Night-Blooming Cereus will be as lovely as this one. =)
I especially like the part where the grasshopper makes an appearance at 1:13, on the branch in the upper l/h side ;-). I have one of these and am saddened when they bloom, because it's such a fleeting spectacle . . They're beautiful. Great choice of music on your video.
WOW! I have three of these night-blooming cereus plants that I grew from cuttings, but I usually only have one or two flowers blooming at the same time (I have one blooming right as I type this, in fact, with another one on the same plant set to "pop" tomorrow). Knowing how strong the perfume from ONE flower is, I can only imagine what the house must have been like with that many blooming at once! That is amazing!
Well, this answers a question I've had about them. I was given a rooted cutting from a plant brought to Canada from China years back and last year, I had one bloom on it. Since there was only one blossom, I wondered if a plant with many buds would all flower on the same night or open on successive nights. They're so lovely that it's a pity the flowering isn't spaced out over a few nights. I left the dead blossom on for a couple more days as I considered it lovely even after the flower had wilted.
I have had this plant for 8 years and never knew what it was. I got a 4 inch clipping from a stranger. It lived in my darkish living room for 3 years and did nothing at all, it just sat there, didn't grow but didn't die. I took it to my very bright work office and it went nuts. Its now 4 feet high, and I have cultivated about 10 plants off it. No blooms. But at least I know what it is!
it like to be in a tight soil, kinda root bound for it to bloom, but I have never heard of any blooming indoors .. something about the night life outside
Very amazing video. I have an Epiphyllum Oxypetalum blooming tonight. The most beatiful happenig at home with all the family around taking pictures and enjoing the moment!!
I 'm from philippines and my mom had a plant like that when I was a kid, she told me that legend says if you whisper your wish on that flower while its blooming your wish will come true. Skl.
I know it as Lady of the night in Jamaica where I live. It gives more blooms when it gets a lot of rain and moderate shade to sun. Lovely perfume smell when it blooms at night.
Wow this looks just like the flowers that bloomed out of my cactus..I had no idea of it's nature and it was a pleasant surprise and thee most beautiful flower I've ever seen in my life 🌵🎍💮
you can preserve the flower with liquor..right after the flower bloom put it in a jar with liquor in it..and you can also drink the liquor with the flower in it..
During the late 80's and throughout the 90's hardly a week passed that I didn't host a dinner or cocktail party for friends and family. The back deck and garden were always popular with the guests but evenings when the Epyphillum were in bloom were special, always memorable. In 1998 a great flood washed all that away except the memories and I haven't hosted or attended a party since, hadn't had the desire. Thanks, I had never thought about Epyphillum infused liquor. I'm smiling just imagining looking at this drink! That's worth sharing with friends!
WOW!!! I wish mine would do that. I've had it for about 10 years. It was like a small tree. It throws out a lot of aerial roots and plenty of leaves - all on the top - but nothing else, and certainly no flowers. I moved house a couple of days ago and I've had to cut it down from its 1.5 metre height to about 1 metre to transport it so I'm hoping that if it doesn't die it might grow a bit more evenly. I've also got a smaller epiphyllum with similar flowers to this, but they're red and I get about 3 each year which last for about a week or so.
Kiedy raz go powąchają zapamiętają na całe życie.Pachnie tylko do 4 godzin nocnych . Potem aromat ginie razem z kwiatem.
My plant is 10 years old and for the last 4 summers I place it in my porch from may 09 my birthday till late October. It gets full sun from about 12:30 till sun goes down. Right now October 23/2013 it have about 10 flowers about to open in about another week hopefully sinse I brought it inside yesterday because it is going to freeze tonight. A few leafs were sent to me by mail from Puerto Rico and now the plant is over 6 feet tall and 3 feet wide. I only put 16oz of water every Saturday.
I think this flower is a symbol for enlightenment. It is said enlightenment is not progressive, it is sudden and you do not continue to reach enlightenment, it happens once for all time.

I just can't get mine to bloom...so dry and then submerge pot in water?

"You’re stronger than any test, paper due, breakup, money issue, or any battle you’re facing. Keep your head up".
I can't wait for it, to see its bloom again, the fragnance still linger in my nose when my cactus orchid bloom
Though the flower which blooms only after 8.00 pm does not last long it leaves behind ever lasting memory of its heavenly fragrance
This made me cry. Poor lil flower and it's one night in the spotlight.
Breathtaking! I was smiling in such awe. ❤️🙏🏽

3 months ago we had 24 (15 bloomed first night 9 the next)
As my experience with this plant, when there was just 1 flower, the smell was legendary. Once, I had 10 on 1 plant, there was no smell.
My Favourite Smells MATCHLESS, NO FLOWER IN COMPARISON. AT MY HONG SINCE LONG YEARS. 🇮🇳

Thank you very much for sharing this beautiful video. Somebody gave me a cutting which is about 3 years old now. I hope it will bloom in 2 years.
Its one of the most beautiful flowers I have seen. I have it too but didnt know its name. Thanks for the information.
True native name is KADUPOL in Singhalese (only finds in Sri Lanka) meaning 'the flower of the forest' also some call it the flower of Gods.
I 'm from philippines and my mom had a plant like that when I was a kid, she told me that legend says if you whisper your wish on that flower while its blooming your wish will come true. Skl.
