Lmaoooo.... That's me in the beginning of the video. It was my first time going into a match with a full set like that. I intentionally picked the noob map because I didn't want to run into anyone and lose the gear. I assumed I'd have a lobby to myself so when you showed up I was pretty scared. I was SUPER happy you left right away. Now that I know it was you, I'm even happier we didn't fight :P In the end, I got cocky against a mini-boss and lost the set anyway... so there's that.
your own heirlooms should make much less of an impact on matchmaking score. Or let us craft the lower rarity heirlooms even if weve unlocked the higher tiers.
I don't agree heirlooms are much more powerful than the average peice of equipment so it is fair. What they should do is allow us to craft all stages of gear we have unlocked. i.e. green, blue, purp
I sware I am going crazy in regard to purple gear, causing me to see other purples regardless of my gear score. I'm full tin foil hat here. Gear score is not the only factor in pushing you into 3+ different lobbies, even though this is the obvious answer. Even if I'm wrong, you can use this green gear strategy to consistently fight other equally geared players. Thanks for watching, this took some time to put together :)
I think that the GBMM changes the brackets depending on what kind of players are queueing up at a particular time. Basically trying to limit how long you wait for a match, and then trying to fit players into lobbies by gear score. That would explain why you aren't getting consistent results. If there were a lot of people queueing at the same time, such as during peak hours, you'd probably find more brackets of smaller gear score ranges too. You'd probably also find a gray-geared lobby during times when a lot of people queue up in full gray, and not find one when there aren't enough gray-geared players to form one quickly.
A regular purple set isn't even the issue in my opinion. When I run into Purple geared players, in my experience, its the set bonuses applied to their gear that makes me stand no chance against them. I'm often dead instantly even as a tankier class and when wearing full purple myself before I can even get a hit off. I strongly feel that another tier of gear score for matchmaking should be present to counter this. For example a set bonus should count in some way as gear score does in determining ranking for your matches.
Or better yet, set bonuses should simply carry more weight in the GS calculation. A lot more. I'm not even sure they're factored in at all right now. If not, then that would be a huge miss. So the way would be to either factor them into GS with high weight, or nerf the bonuses across the board so that they don't make such an enormous difference.
This is exactly what I've been talking to my friends about, I've done some of my own testing too focusing on GS though. It seems when I'm above 24/25 GS I start running into full purples and 5-10 player lobbies. 10-15 GS seems to be new players with mid player count to low, 15-25 GS seems to be a mix of blues and greens with an occasional purple and player skill being mixed.
Keep in mind that even following this can end with you in purple lobbies during low pop hours on your server/region. If there arent enough players in your bracket before the one minute countdown it will look for people in the next bracket.
Yesterday I entered the game with completely green equipment, except for one ring (white). I had an almost full lobby, with players in completely blue equipment, or almost completely blue, one of them had an active bonus set for each item.
BRO! I love the work! The gear break point is sub26 and 27above. I hasnt tested the low end of the bracket to hard, but Ive tested the top limits of the casual lobby. 26 and lower is a bracket, and I think it goes to 13-26
I think we mostly got accustomed to Ironmaces super lazy approach to matchmaking, and assume all games do the same thing as just hard locking to specific gear brackets. it makes more sense to try and assign people based on preexisting lobbies that are "similar" gear to what they are, rather than looking at a maximum/minimum score type thing. The DB developers seem to be constantly changing things as well, so these are all interesting tests but could easily be obsolete in the next patch. Good info nonetheless, glad to see similar results as to what i was seeing.
@Xioxyde_ That's fair, and I agree that it is unlikely as simple as "x gear score gets you in x lobby." I'm just glad to be able to find at least one gear set that consistently does not have full purples in it. This video could certainly become irrelevant but I felt was important to share, thanks!
Dungeonborne is a PvPvE Game. It's about the experience! Many here basicly argue for sealclubbing or new player bullying. Then again its human nature to be risk averse. Cmon guys, it's a game! Don't try to turn this game into a PvE hoarding, looting simulation. Overall gear gaps can be outplayed, you can always get third partied too. Look at the disparity in the items, dps goes up by tiny margins! I'm honestly surprised noone is playing crit builds on Leather users its busted btw, far better than lifeonhit. 3x+18% crit on heirlooms + 20% base =74% crit. 100% is very achievable. I'm assuming you realize that for every point you outmatch another person's GS you do 2.5% more and take 2.5% less damage? So if I'm in a set that is 33 GS and you are in 20 GS set I am dealing 32% more DMG and taking 32% less DMG. I wouldn't call that a small margin by any means, that's a 64% damage disparity.

Casual was much better before the last GBMM patch. That screwed it up pretty bad! Before the this last GBMM patch, you could run one green heirloom and get fair matches in Casual. If you do that now, you will get matches with all green and some blues, maybe even a purple, and you will get destroyed most matches. Currently from my testing, if you are low level and working on your characters and Heirloom unlocks, you have two options, #1. never run any green gear at all and run all common gear. #2. Run full green gear. That is the only way to currently get fair matches until they fix it or revert the patch so casual is how it was previously before this last GBMM patch. The issue is that if your a new player and you play one match and make it out with one piece of green gear and then take that back in on your second run, you are SCREWED! as you will get tossed to the wolves, and that is not good for the games growth of the player base. I have 130hrs in dungeonborne and have tested this a lot myself as I have had friends try the game and when they experienced this same thing, they uninstalled the game, so I was like I must figure this out. Thanks for taking the time to talk about this topic. I gave you a sub for your work! Sincerely, Dez
One easy way to make better matchmaking would be to just not allow purple gear into casual besides the heirlooms. So the max gear in casual would be 3 purple and rest full blue 🟣🟣🟣 🔵🔵🔵🔵🔵🔵🔵 this way you make sure players in casual would have a better experience and Classic mode would have easier time to fill lobbies.
I don't think so. I added a gray gear lobby example that shows players with higher gearscore, similar to green gear lobbies. The only explanation is that there is a auto fill system that can pull players in from other pools if the matchmaking isn't full.
I’m ngl I was legit about to quit the game because I’d run in with nothing but my purple heirlooms and gray everything else and still ran into full purples, then I decided I might as well just get stomped in classic instead of casual and spent over half my bank trying to compete there so I brought in full purples but then I got shit on by people with set bonuses and legendaries. Also heard legendaries were on a timer so no point in trying to ever get those because they’re getting farmed immediately on reset by the same discord that got them before. Probably gonna take a break at least and let a lot of these problems sort themselves out. Was fun for the first few weeks.
Anytime Im above like 26 gearscore casual lobbies are completely dead. Which is kind of sad cause Im pretty sure my 3 upgraded heirlooms + Full greens and a blue or two is putting me into dead lobbies. Classic, usually fills for me though, itll be like 10/16 and then an extra team or two will load in at the very end.
It probably measures gearlevel and allows a range eitherside. So it matches 30s and also grabs 5 levels either way when it struggles to find players. Much like world of tanks
One of my most common sets is full green gear rogue + three heirlooms. In that gear, my gear score is in the 20s but the lobbys are full purple almost every time. Seems like heirlooms weirdly effect matchmaking
In my experience of about 50+ matches. Gear Score is not exactly what determines your lobby but the items you wear. Me and my friend have tons of times just worn purple heirlooms with 12 GS to find players with 35+ GS in lobbies multiple times to be a coincidence.
Tested just now...conclusions in this video are not accurate it seems. My gear score was 15, the very first person I meet, is almost all purple. Gear score 31.
Playd last night with my buddy and it seems work pretty much same way in duos. We had max 2 blues, usually full green and we met only ppl close to our gear. One guy in full blues, mostly full greens too. About 6hours "testing" session lol.
sometimes i just want to chill and make a little gold I get just enough for the full midas effect and i can pretty much just brain off smash mobs and get out most of the time
Few questions. Are they ever planning on adding a way to insure all gear? Also i swore pre update the game ran a 60 fps. Now my system claims its pulling 29 to 45 fps. Just me?
i play with gray gears alot because i just want to explore the castle map and find out a bit more about it, i played with alot of new NEW players like level 1-10 type stuff and i only get queued up with them when i bring 0 potions. Im not super confident about this though i just noticed that every time i see/spectate players getting wiped by mobs i had 0 potion/flasks Tl;dr potions flasks and other stufd may affect lobbies as well
Blue sets seems pretty useless since it puts you in the same bracket with guys in purple gear, you either run full greens with some blue heirlooms or go for full purple.
I put on 3 purple heirlooms (crossbow, neck, gloves) and nothing else, which put me at 12 gear score. Instantly died on purpose. The entire lobby was 22 gear score and under - nobody else actually had a single purple heirloom except for me. Not one. This took me 5 minutes to test. Why not just suicide and check every single player's gear levels before they loot other items? Gear they pick up increases their gear score - I think only if they can wear it. I'm not sure why you're afraid to throw away 10k in greens to test it. 99% sure gear score is all that matters based on my own experience and my quick 5 minute test that easily re-confirmed it for me. The one guy with 22 gear score had looted a bit so not sure what he actually came in with. There were a couple players that had a few blues with their grays on. Some blue heirlooms. No other purples despite the fact that I had 3. I think the lowest gear score player was me at 12, and another guy at 13.
I definitely feel like the people fighting fully geared and complaining are running 3 purple heirlooms which does seem to put you into the geared lobbies
I keep seeing people suggest hard brackets such as yours, but is there any reason we think it wouldn't be dynamic like in most other games' matchmaking? e.g. Games tries to form a lobby of players within ~8 gearscore (or any other metric) of eachother, but if it cant find players after X time, it extends that to 16 or w/e.
I was having a great run tons of purple statues to sell them I get one shot by someone in all purples. I proceed with spectating them and they kill the whole lobby loot no one and leave. I swear there is a population of players who want to have high tier gear and just keep wiping lower tier players
nah those are just the jucided players that have a ton of gold and take pleasure in making everyone lose their stuff. They'll check your body to see if you have gear with good stats to sell but otherwise they dont need mats or items
I use 3 heirlom, it is 12 gs, when you enter purple equipment, do you always come across men with purple equipment because when I am 12 gs, I come across men with 20-25 gs.
Address the real issue, this game going to have much less players with each day until the real problem is fixed... gears system is not the problem here... is only hunting other players on 'casual game' isn't the way to play the game... go into TDM or classic mode, if just want to PK... casual should be duel only system in casual mode 1vs1 2vs2 3vs3 etc if both party agreed while others 3rd party can not interrupted... This should add more players while keeping many players in Dungeon borne, For now best match making in casual game pick up nothing in first 8-10mins... and if PK hit you beforehand let them hit you without hitting back will create a tasteless victory that can't be show off and no one cares even if taken the whole map
I put 3 blues on and it was crown guys and purples everywhere. I did get to spectate another ungeared guy as he survived 2 of them who slaughtered his boy and another group, by using the mimic potion. They literally stood on him camping the bodies thinking he'd return :P What a chad.
@jalennorth6323 Just doesn't seem possible from my testing unless there is a region difference which would be very strange. I've now played a total of 5+ hours with this type of gear and haven't seen a single purple geared player
Nah this is incorrect. I ran spawn gear rogue to get better at it and I had people in majority of my casual Castle lobbies with mostly blues and who were also running purple weapons...
I went in with 10GS 1 mins into the game i get clap by GS35........ Any suppose to be 1-6 7-25 26+ No matter which lobby it is very rare i get full lobbies. Played Dungeon stalker for 2 hrs every lobby was full.. smh...
@SKY13. Considering I'm now 5 hours deep into this testing total without a single purple encounter, idk what to tell you. You have purples? It's possible your region is filing you to higher lobbies
Another thing, matchmaking system seems to be all over the place late at night. I was often matched agains greens as a full purple... (im not gonna lie, i had lots of fun😊)
I have 300hrs in game but haven't played since the day they "fixed LOH" but didn't really fix it but hard nerfed the ONLY set bonus I used/was useful on my priest, FOTL for the shield to ally bonus.. So, I quit. I have a screen shot of a duo game with nobody in it besides me and my friend at the 0:00 countdown mark.. We kept getting lobbies with 1-3 teams instead of what used to be full lobbies. They killed the fun. 99% of my games were from duo casual. I haven't gold farmed a second in this game and had ~5m+ made from PvP. People sweat too hard in classic that it's not even fun, so we didn't bother with that much. Not going to fight only full meta teams constantly, not fun. We are an anti-meta team and will never touch meta builds, ever. LOH was just too powerful so, it killed the game for a lot of non-sweaty people. We played a LOT, but we don't find fun in playing what's "best," only what we enjoy playing. - My findings: Lobbies DO NOT CARE about EACH of your GS's but it could potentially add up BOTH people's GS. If one person in team has gear to bring you to a certain bracket, you get pulled into it with them, or it could be a combination of your GS in group games. It's happened to me and I've seen it happen to other people. You'll loot a full kit guy and his buddy is greys/couple greens(prob died last match). - If neither player pass these thresholds, these are the rough estimate of lobbies I've found. If all greys = mainly grey/green lobbies(usually under 10 or so gs, although you'll rarely find that one guy that has way too much gear for your lobby for some reason??? Everyone else will be on an equal scale). If some greens = grey/green/blue lobbies, purple heirlooms. If full blue/purple with some greens or even greys still on = doesn't matter, you're ending up able to match with full purple kits. - GS #'s, I'd say around 0-15, 10-25, 26+. I think lobbies might overlap a little to help with faster grouping. It's the only explanation I have for that 1 guy that you'll occasionally find who has too much gear compared to everyone else, to be in your lobby. Somewhere around the 26+ mark, it'd bring you over into potential full blue/purple lobbies..

Im not super confident about this though i just noticed that every time i see/spectate players getting wiped by mobs i had 0 potion/flasks
Tl;dr potions flasks and other stufd may affect lobbies as well
Blue sets seems pretty useless since it puts you in the same bracket with guys in purple gear, you either run full greens with some blue heirlooms or go for full purple.
@wanderer2925 blue gear is weaker than greens in this scenario lol
I think the lowest gear score player was me at 12, and another guy at 13.
you can do all blue weapons all green accessories and all green armor and always que green/blue lobbies
Can do a video on how to beat other player in sword fight? Struggling winning sword fights
Hold left click, then press left click repeatedly. Mix in some right clicks, too.
Got to 3v3 and get good at PVP.
I’ve come across full pink players at 20-23 gear score - with 2 pink heirlooms myself
yeah, running heirlooms will mess up the matchmaking most of the time, this has been reported by many!
does gear lying in bacpack counts in gear score?
I definitely feel like the people fighting fully geared and complaining are running 3 purple heirlooms which does seem to put you into the geared lobbies
I couldn't find any players at all in trios lobbies no matter what server classic or casual. Thought the game died I had to check player count
@@Yhtill I think it's a bit of both. We absolutely could have some dynamic matching in play for casuals
Bro I just played a Casual game I had 0 gearscore trying out a new class (priest) and I played with full purple players....Like Whattt???
I use 3 heirlom, it is 12 gs, when you enter purple equipment, do you always come across men with purple equipment because when I am 12 gs, I come across men with 20-25 gs.
Address the real issue, this game going to have much less players with each day until the real problem is fixed... gears system is not the problem here... is only hunting other players on 'casual game' isn't the way to play the game... go into TDM or classic mode, if just want to PK... casual should be duel only system in casual mode 1vs1 2vs2 3vs3 etc if both party agreed while others 3rd party can not interrupted... This should add more players while keeping many players in Dungeon borne,
For now best match making in casual game pick up nothing in first 8-10mins... and if PK hit you beforehand let them hit you without hitting back will create a tasteless victory that can't be show off and no one cares even if taken the whole map
how about purple heirloom?
8, 9~28 , 28~48
ALL EPIC It's the best
nope/ i played many games full naked (just 1h grey sword) with full green+ people
so in classic it doesn't matter how low your gs is?
Have you tried putting your gear in inventory while loading in to see if that will negate sbmm?
Doesn't work
@@ChandlerDIncau-k1hgood I was hoping it wouldn’t be that easy to get around
Does classic also have GBMM like casual?
I put 3 blues on and it was crown guys and purples everywhere. I did get to spectate another ungeared guy as he survived 2 of them who slaughtered his boy and another group, by using the mimic potion. They literally stood on him camping the bodies thinking he'd return :P What a chad.
@@Vanlifecrisis Possible that blues can put you higher. That's why I'm using greens here
I run pyro all green one blue staf and still et in lobbies with mostly purple gear i dont understand
@jalennorth6323 Just doesn't seem possible from my testing unless there is a region difference which would be very strange. I've now played a total of 5+ hours with this type of gear and haven't seen a single purple geared player
@@Firebox720 hmm maybe they updated the gbmm cuz i havent played for a some days so i wouldnt know
what if you go naked and put your items to inventory?
Inventory items still count towards your matchmaking queue
@@Siepownidas pretty sure this was proven to not work
Nah this is incorrect. I ran spawn gear rogue to get better at it and I had people in majority of my casual Castle lobbies with mostly blues and who were also running purple weapons...
I run sword master with purple/blues and get lobbies like this
@@TechTyler88 Would need to see examples because I haven't found this at all
when i have 22 gs i face people with 40 gs full purple, this game is hot garbage
I went in with 10GS 1 mins into the game i get clap by GS35........
Any suppose to be
1-6
7-25
26+
No matter which lobby it is very rare i get full lobbies.
Played Dungeon stalker for 2 hrs every lobby was full.. smh...
@SKY13. Considering I'm now 5 hours deep into this testing total without a single purple encounter, idk what to tell you. You have purples? It's possible your region is filing you to higher lobbies
@Firebox720 no I had Grey's and greens, Eastern server. Few games later happened to my buddy too.
Another thing, matchmaking system seems to be all over the place late at night. I was often matched agains greens as a full purple... (im not gonna lie, i had lots of fun😊)
So if i want a balanced fight while playing my Pyro i have to play without mana on hit right? This is terrible
Guess i'll wait for matchmaking update
Ok so don’t go in full purple got it lmao.
i have 13 gear score, all enemy have 23-34 gear score, nice balance😍😍😍
I played more than 40 games yesterday and the day before yesterday with this result
I have already lost 400 thousand gold in the last 3 days
Now im seeing swordmaster with all default gear except a purple sword with all the meta things, cant win against 2 hits kills
I went in 1 game with 15 gear score and died to someone in full purple gear score 44... Matchmaking is so fucked
As long as it's not classic
You probably entered to classic mode, there's no gear score matchmaking in those matches, only in casual (loot is grey-green)
So you play casuals to PVP? I also enjoyed normals in DaD where the gear doesnt out gear skill. Why is casuals always > HR LOL. fix the dang game.
i have 0 gear score, my enemy have 13-17 gear score, its balance last 10 game🤐
I played more than 40 games yesterday and the day before yesterday with this result
I have already lost 400 thousand gold in the last 3 days
This is cap I was gear 15 and ran against all people dk with 20 LoH
Why would anyone play this when we have DaD?
Why are you here?
