- I’ve been having some issues with the temp readings on my YJ. Basically, zero on the gauge. There could be a number of things, but this helped to identify part of my problem. Here’s how to test your Jeep YJ to ensure the gauge is working. At least this can help narrow down your issues! This one basically fell apart when I removed it. Thanks for posting this. I overlooked that sender putting a 93 yj back together after having the valve cover off. Mine’s a 6cyl, but the sender is in pretty much the same place. Saved me some time banging my head on the wall trying to figure out why that gauge wasn’t working.
Great to hear. Every minute saved is a blessing. Onto the nd t thing. Lol
Useful tip, thanks. The gauge did as you described, when the sender unit was grounded. So, i'm 'guessing' the sender may be ok. But, when connected normally, the temp gauge only goes to the first thin line, even when the engine is warmed up. So more investigating to be done.
Mine stayed cold because my thermostat was stuck open. It was actually broken. Never would get up to temp. New thermostat and it started working normally. Good luck!!!
Sorry but I have a 91 YJ and I can,t find the sender in on the basamnet you show in the clip, can you help me?
If it’s a 6 cylinder it’s probably in a different spot. This was a 4-banger.
What year is this 2.5?@@KeepOnWrenching
