Repairs we have monitored have stood the test of time. Also, those repairs made during a formal study are still intact after 5 years.

This looks like it was designed in the 90s. Where is the scara actuators and the camera guided tool path planning? I'm no expert on patching roads, but this looks like it leaves a lot to be desired in terms of speed, efficiency, and accuracy.
Yall need to come to Pittsburgh, PA you can test it all you want.
Local road worker unions will nip that right in the bud before they get to try.

Isn't that what the adhesive spray coating (tack oil) that is applied pre-patch supposed to help prevent? That and leaving a small crown so traffic will add to the compaction of the asphalt mix. I don't patch for a living, so I concede my supposition is not from experience.
An operator with only minimal training and experience will be able to leave a finished, compacted patch with no gaps.
Spend more time cleaning it and repairing than actual use

Instead of pothole repairs, why don't we design new road materials that don't need repairs ?...
Because that road material would be billions in research and cost several times as much to implement.
Simply, it does not exist
The only issue I see here is the joystick. The placement and repetitive moment can cause extreme arm fatigue near the elbow. Over time the user may experience numbness and tingling in the fingers as well as chronic pain in the elbow.
So far, we haven't heard any complaints from our customers about this, but we will check to see if it is an issue.
