  • I have used printed textures, paint, and card, to add walls to the Wesleyan Assembly Hall on Chandwell. In this episode I show the steps I went through to get the size right and to get the textures just how I want them.

    On the matter of the chimney and the window, it is possible that the flue could run at a 45 degree angle from the fire and the window sits below the internal flue. Seen it in older buildings but if you've made plans to rectify the mistake/non-mistake I don't want to be the one who throws a spanner in the works.

    From the very first image of this video I was amazed and enamored of the front, lower section of this building. Adding this to the top front that appeared last week and I am convinced that your take on this Chapel is not yours at all but a shrunken version of the real thing...until I am suddenly reminded by the rest of your video.
    I am endlessly impressed and inspired and only wish my work would allow me time to get back to my own modeling efforts. Maybe one day - hopefully soon...I am not getting any younger.
    Thank you for your continued sharing of your genius and the updates on the development of this city - mot just the layout but a "real" city. I so wish I could walk the streets one day...
    Maybe a virtual reality walking tour and visit to some major land marks is in order for the future...
    I believe their is a tour guide who may be available...
    That Stanley guy is everywhere! - Has his 'cave' yet been found?
    Magic - true magic.

    They were discussing O guage railways in this weeks episode of "No such thing as a fish", a fella who recreated the whole of the london 1890-1940s railway stock. and I couldn't help but think of your work and how much attention to detail it all has in it. Super glad your process is also captured in these videos as I think it adds something extra.

    Magnificent work..... can't wait to see next week's installment...... I've been designing and building "O" guage model railroad structures.... I'm a retired architect here in the States... I use scale lumber and clapboard.....can be a bit expensive..... I create my models using SketchUp.....and transfer the dimensions to 1/4" scale using and architects scale.....lots of fun....

    Very impressive. All the layers from the last episode with the painting now create a very nice effect like there is more detail than just a slope. What printer are you using that can print letters that small that are still readable? I tried working with printed textures a few times but the printers I tried either weren't color-true enough for me or had too low of a resolution.

      Thank you. I use a Canon inkjet printer set to its highest DPI in the print settings and using proper photo paper. Details are in this video: Scratch building with card - tools and materials

    Michael Great to see the Old Wesleyan Hall coming on. It really does fit the space available on High St between Old Town Hall & Railway Viaduct, going back to area around the yet unnamed beck and culvert. The view across High St is still changing maybe the Mar et Tower might be hidden a bit once the roof is in place. Next must be more of Revs alterations to this once grand building. Wondering if Revs let Stanley do his latest piece & does the Mel David’s Graffiti has anything to do with the Liam Thistles one on the Earl Chandfield, if so there bound to be a good Chandwell Tale. Ian

    Enjoyable as always Michael. Quick question, when do you plan to add details on the station platforms such as lights signals people etc? I always look forward to seeing what the next building will be!!!

    • @Chandwell
      @Chandwell  Рік тому

      That is a good question! I have no firm plans yet. These kinds of details are where you stop being able to make things on the cheap from scrap. I think a set of name boards, a hundred or so passengers, seats, lights, Brute trolleys, luggage, signals, etc. will end up costing more than I have spent on the layout in over two years, and I just can't justify spending anything at the moment. You may have noticed that the passengers are slowly moving in though...?
