About This Video: The AKG M220 Blue headphones from Massdrop are a popular upper end of budget headphone. I take them apart, show what they are made of and show how to take them apart if parts replacement is needed.
If you haven't been bitten by the bluetooth bug and you're on a budget, the lower end of the AKG wired line is great. The sound quality is just right there. It might not be bass heavy enough for some people but I love my K-240 Studio. I've had them for ten years (Probably wore them at least ten hours a day every day of that) and have only replaced the cable and the pads. Which is one thing I will say. If you buy these, replace those pads right away. You can get pads for these that blow the stock ones away. That's the only thing I regret about the time I've spent with my AKGs. That I suffered with the awful stock pads as long as I did.
I always liked the AKG design and they always had a reputation of being really good headphones, even back in the 80's and 90's when i became interested in HiFi equipment for the first time. It's nice to see that AKG is still around and still stands for quality products
Good teardown of the headphones. Something I don't often see from other channels reviewing headphones. Keep up the good work!
My vintage AKG broke again; left side solder…it’s like surgery to access but I’ll try again!
Love the break down review, and they seem very repairable down the road. Wish more products were as easy to fix.
Always was a fan of AKG.
Nice video I love that you colabed with my mate Vince keep up with the great work
AKG is the best product i ever worked with. professional stuff. I also love your videos. I am learning alot about play station and how to determine if it is power supply issue or the mother board issue and how to fix both. I was able to fix a lot of play stations and I also liked the HDMI cable De soldering and soldering one back on board. again, love them and keep up the good work
Nice! Hopefully the winner puts good use to them, I certainly would!
Very nice video, have considered buying these after breaking many cheap headphones so good to know how these stack up
Sweet Teardown Steve. Love it. These sound good too.
Love the competition you did with my mate vince, hope you will do another one with him. Love your vid's.
can't wait for your next challenge with Vince... good work
Its really nice to see your channel growing up! keep up the good work mate!
Looks like a good quality pair of heaphones. They should have used a standard headphone jack for the removable cord instead of that weird connector.
Weird? That's completely normal mini XLR connector which is common at microphones etc. It's amazing cause it won't disconnect until button is pushed.
That disassembly and reassembling made me tingle.
The akg that come with my note are pretty good. They fit well inside your ear and for in ear there pretty comfortable. So i would definitely be willing to purchase a pair of akg over the ear headphones.
They look real sturdy especially for gaming
As a gamer, and owner of these headphones, I doubt they'll survive with gamer rage, I just mainly use em for listening to music
Can you provide the name of the hold down tape?
Nice review from the inside, sure looks like it's very well made
A nice and simple modular design, the weakest part are probably the swivel pins, but the plastic seems to be glass fibre reinforced (any markings on the plastics?). The worst things are probably the pleather earpads. If you want similar headphones for cheaper, then there's the Samson SR850 and Superlux headphones, don't know about the differences in sound quality, but the Superlux ones are well regarded budget headphones.
No markings on the plastic that I saw.
Great video, always look forward to your videos
look like a nice pair of headphones i once owned in the mid eighties, nice and retro!
Great review and breakdown AKG make great gear i own 240 headphones and 330BT microphone love it
Thanks for the headphones ! ☺️
THANK YOU. However I was really hoping to see an easy way to mod the bass like with the K series etc. Didn’t see a sticker for the bass port anywhere.
Awesome review, keep this up
Just my few bits about AKG solders. I own AKG K712 Pro (made in Austria) and unfortunately first solder was off nearly after 2 years (I think that was the warranty for them). Second one I had to re-solder shortly after (maybe 2-3 months). That's really not great for headphones which i paid nearly £300 back then. Now you can get them much cheaper ( tho produced in China). Not sure if that's the flaw of this model only but based on short research it seems to be a flaw with all AKG headphones for very long time.
Nice, always good to see headphones tested. I always end up with a pile of ear cups and broken headbands as so many manufactures build in weak points :( Keep up the good work.
Keep up the great content!
Interesting stuff as usual !
Hi Steve! Very nice video! I always enjoy watching you at work. You show a very high degree of knowledge and professionalism! As always keep up the great work! 👍😃👍
What's the name of the connector that the headphone uses to connect to the wire ?
Mini XLR
I would like to have new Headphones xD as always, very good job
Good review! thanks
I have to replace the headband on my AKG 271 Mk ii, which are a little different. I have to pop off the earcup to get to the screw holding on the headband (replace it, actually; I removed it with the earcup on but I need to remove the earcup to replace the screw). Do I pop off the outer part like you did? Thanks.
Nice job bro
Interesting. I've been wanting to buy some good quality headphones. I'll check them out!
Hi I love your videos I liked the series you did MMV

Nice review
+TronicsFix Those seem like really nice headphones. I'd love to try them.
How much these costs?
nice review...but how do they sound? I need to find some replacements for my Sennheiser HDR 85's
I don't generally do reviews of how stuff sounds since it sounds different to each person. I'm no audio expert either.
I checked every reply, doesn’t show anything about any winners. Did I miss something?
Hey our ps4 at some point stopped reading any disc new ones, cleaned ones, ect. Any tips on finding out what's wrong with it because I don't want to have to send it in just to find out it just needed cleaned anything you can do to help?
You can always try cleaning the laser yourself.
Oh, Steve, I have a question, I'm looking to buy a One X motherboard, any idea where I can find one, I haven't had any luck so far =(
They generally aren't for sale anywhere
@@Tronicsfix damn, well, time to break out the wallet
I’m having trouble with my Xbox one it will work but it keeps shutting off for some reason I think it’s my power supply because ever time it’s shuts off my power brick in console shut down in also ever time my I turn on my Xbox one the white color on the power brick seems to be kind of dark it’s not as bright like most power bricks what should I do
Nice look
good review
as always informative and nice video thanks
Love the breakdown video. Would like the headset Harman has always been good with audio.
cool headphones overall
These look awesome. I'd love to win!!
Looks like a good quality product very well made and put together and AKG is a quality brand I would love a pair as I love my music
Nice
Wonder how they sound on a ps4!
Cool headset. I can't afford this for sure.
Plz teardown Skullcandy crusher.
I can see the plastic has carbon fiber in it for strength, it is super super strong!!! and actually a expensive piece because carbon impregnated plastic wears down the molds.
You had me at "large ear cups". Well-done teardown.
Nice Headphones
That looks extremely well made. I would love to hear them myself.
Nice headphonix
Ohh cool, I could use a new pair of headphones.
Is it possible for me to send you my ps4 to try to repair it since it's just sitting in my room collecting dust and maybe pay you to fix it?
Sure...you can make a repair order right on our website: tronicsfix.com/collections/get-started
Good luck to all that enter
But do they rock out?
I can use some extra headphones!
