  • Went to a no cooling call and found the unit extremely low on refrigerant. The low pressure switch was preventing the unit from running in AC mode. Jumped to conclusions thinking there was a leak in the evaporator coil. Found out that the leak was actually at a cross point where the suction line was touching the liquid line before the metering device. Lesson learned. Also look for copper touching when you find a unit low on refrigerant. Don’t just assume it’s in the coil. Purged with nitrogen. Soldered the leak. Pulled a vacuum. Added refrigerant according to manufacture nameplate. On to the next call.
