Today Monica was looking through her photo album and they showed Sean Kanan as A.J in a picture by himself and another with Jason. So A.J. is definitely coming back next week. She also corrected Michael when he said that Jason was like a father to him. She told him his father was A.J. There was a photo of Ned in the album too. I am hoping he returns next month for Edward's funeral. They would have to recast Dillon since he is on another soap. Steve will be back as Jason.
I am glad Sean Kanan is AJ and I am pleased that FV did NOT recast him as Jason. It leaves the door open for Steve, in case he wants to come back (remember he has LEFT a few times before...soo...you never know). I am sad that Steve is leaving but we NEED another male Q to associate ourselves with besides Michael and Jason. Your right, with AJ's return has alot of possibilities...ELQ scenes...can't WAIT!! Hopefully, this will bring MORE Q's back to our screens (Ned, Dillion or Brooke).
In Jason's defense, he did want Monica to know about Jake. Elizabeth objected to the idea, given the fact that at that time, Jason was the HEAD of the mob. However, there was PLENTY of opportunity for both Jason and Elizabeth to tell Monica and TRUST her to keep Jake's paternity a secert from Jason's enemies. The Jake/Josslyn sl, while heartbreaking, was completely STUPID.
He should have been fired in 2007, considering both Alan AND Emily died in that year. In fact, Guza's firing should have happened, BEFORE they killed off Alan. I will admit--I like Jason and Sonny, but they have been at the center of GH (FOR TOO LONG, IMO), while the Quartermaines AND other core families were systematically destroyed or written out of the show. I hope the new writers, for the 50th Anniversary--pull a rise from the dead s/l; especially for the Qs.
Of course, Steve will be back. He has left the show before, but I understand and respect his wishes to step away from GH and focus on other projects. I am hoping that they bring more Q's back, that mansion has BEEN barren for FAR too long. Sorry, but seeing Monica and Tracey the ONLY two people in that house isn't working anymore. Yes, it is nice for Monica to tell Michael that, even though Jason raised him; AJ is his real father.
Thanks for posting this. Monica was right this conversation was long overdue. After Jason's accident there was never any balance. For the last fifteen years he's been cleaning up after Sonny and Carly while ignoring the people who raised him. I can understand he doesn't remember anything before the accident, but he could have been more civil towards his family. I blame the writers especially Guza and his anti-Quartermain agenda. Glad he got fired!!
I get Monica wanting to know about Jake, but honestly her comments about Jason's decisions are really annoying, Jake is his son, he has every right to make a decision about his child without involving every single family member there is, this isn't some communal decision, he is Jake's father - he and Elizabeth and Lucky are Jake's parents and they have sole right to make decisions - Monica is family but she is ultimately just a grandmother -- and as for Jason's choices after the accident, who's fault was that? It certainly wasn't Jason's fault - the Qs are responsible for their own actions in driving Jason away, they are responsible for putting a wedge between themselves and Jason
Looks like Sean Kanan return next week will be as AJ. Based on the phone conversation Monica has with a stranger and her saying that "No one must know you are alive. It's logical since Jason is gone now. They need male Q's. AJ's return has numerous possibilities. I don't believe he will be the weakling that Billy Warlock's AJ was.
I have heard both. To have him take over for Steve Burton would be foolish. Steve Burton leaves the show October 22 and Sean Kanan arrives a week later. If Kanan is not AJ, which is my first choice, then he better be some long lost Quartermaine. I was watching a clip showing highlights of the late John Ingle and it was sad to see so many great characters gone. One had a Quartermaine family portrait. Three generations! Now all we have left is Monica and Tracy. Jason is only a Q by birth.
I like Jason and Sonny too, but Guza went overboard in centering the show around the two characters. I used to tell my girlfriend, the show was called "General Hospital." If they want to change the show to "The Port Charles Mob" or "Sonny and Jason." I got so tired of Sonny whining about his life in the mob and the effect on his children. I'd scream at the tv, "Dude! You've got more money than you can count. Quit."

A.J. would never resort to killing or attacking his father. When they changed A.J., they tore him down to build Sonny and Jason up. The common line was A.J.'s a drunk. Okay. Sonny and Jason are criminals and have killed. Later they even made A.J. a pyromaniac. A complicated and flawed character who loved his family.

There were episodes where those four characters were all you saw that day. I couldn't stand Kung Fu Courtney. They made her into a superwoman. Yeah I get she was fit, but they had her kicking Rick's ass. I was so glad when she left the show. I like Sonny and his portrayer, but ever notice he had relatives coming out of the woodwork?
His character was TOTALLY redeemable, but the writers had to make him a bad person, so that they could keep Jason and Sonny front and center. The whole Michael prison sl was the "chickens coming home to roost" sorta thing for Sonny, Jason and Carly. They ALLOWED him to be exposed to that violent life style and it could have been avoided.

Remember Sonny hung A.J. on a meat hook in a storage locker and made him sign over custody rights to Michael. Conveniently condoned and justified by Guza. I just heard that Sean Kanan is returning to the show. They won't say if he will be playing A.J. I am hoping he returns as A.J.
Guza and his stooges had no respect for the Quartermaines. About once a year they would talk up bringing them back, but it all was nothing more than lip service. Every time you turned around he was killing off a Quartermaine as a plot device. A,J., Justice, Emily and Alan. The man had no sense of history of GH. He should have been fired years before he got the ax.
Don't get me started on A.J., if their is one character that the writers systematically DESTROYED it would be him. I was hoping that AJ would be redeemed, but come March-April 2005 it didn't happen; instead he gets killed off...BS!!!! And, then from there it was like a domino effect for the Qs: Jusus, Alan and THEN Emily get killed off!!!! Some Qs better be rising from the dead for the 50th Anniversary...or, some heads will be rolling!!!
Unfortunately, I heard the Sean Kanan may be recasted as Jason. That would be REALLY weird, because I see him as AJ. Hopefully, if this pans out--the writers will transition the switch with ease.
It should have been called: Sonny, Jason and Carly or Sonny, Jason and company. I may be the only one, but I like the change that has happened at GH. It's nice seeing GH being used, without it being connected to a Mob storyline.
