My father worked on Tioga pass in the summers, we lived in a tent in Tuolmne medows. This was in the 50. I was in charge of my two little brothers during the day when my dad worked. So many things I could share. Such a wonderful time in my life!

I hate when people reduce California to Los Angeles or San Francisco when there’s places like this in the state. Great vid 👍

I remember one time where (this is easily 50 years ago) our family was on vacation going up 395, and our parents decided to go up Tioga Pass to get to Yosemite. I have a clear memory of my dad having to stop our 1970 Chevy Impala, get out, and adjust the carburetor so it would take in more air. That pass is just short of 10,000 feet (3030 meters) elevation!
Thank you for uploading this... it's been a VERY long time since I saw that road and the incredible beauty of it all.

Drove thru this pass on accident instead dropping into the Sequoias. I got to see all 4 seasons while i was driving thru, best experience ever. Never knew the name of the pass until today ! the gas station on the right before the 395 was the confirmation for me. Thank You !

The sheer monumentality of Tioga Pass is absolutely stunning. I highly recommend driving this road and for full effect, just like it was done here, going down the pass from the top.

This drive was one of the highlights of our holiday here, the first day open after winter with meltwater swollen streams and flooded meadows. Just jaw dropping. Kept some of the giant fallen pine cones as souvenirs!

Its illegal in my country to deny access to any stranger that knocks on the door and asks to use the bathroom. I'll just file those both under "silly laws" .

It reminds me of the road down from Valdresflye, where we always take a snack. My wife is Norwegian and we climbed The Nose and Lurking Fear together. But driving up to the pass was very special. Within minutes I was about 25 ft out on Head Rush on Lembert Dome and suddenly understood the name. I decided not to lead "Big Boys Don't Cry"

Psychologically, we are hurt and we are asking what is hurt and is it an image that you have built about yourself that is hurt and when that image is questioned that image gets hurt. Wherever there is psychological time that divides, there must be conflict.

The first time I went over Tioga Pass was in 1956... Then the pass was much more crooked, steeper, and didn't have a center line, but it was paved. I was 16, riding a motorcycle and had my 15 year old brother along with me.

.except i went thru Lee Vining on way to Lake Tahoe..395 North
