  • SUPREME SCREAM at Knott's Berry Farm television commercial from June 1998.
Supreme Scream offers an exhilarating experience for daring riders who crave excitement in the open air. This turbo-drop amusement ride at Knott's Berry Farm in Buena Park, California, takes you on a thrilling journey. Prepare to be propelled upwards to an astounding height of 252 feet, defying gravity as you soar through the sky. After a brief moment suspended in midair, you'll experience a heart-pounding descent, reaching speeds of over 50 mph in just three seconds. During this rapid descent, you'll feel weightless for three seconds, adding to the adrenaline rush. As the ride nears its end, you'll bounce halfway back up the towering structure before returning to the launch pad. Supreme Scream consists of three individual Turbo Drop model towers connected at their peaks by a distinctive crown and marquee, standing tall at 325 feet. This impressive structure is not only the tallest free-standing structure in Orange County but also houses a flagpole integrated at 312 feet. Each tower carries 12 riders in octagonal carriages, gradually ascending at 8 miles per hour before reaching the breathtaking pinnacle. The innovative use of pneumatics and a pulley system allows the carriages to descend even faster than free-fall, achieving a maximum speed of 50 miles per hour and subjecting riders to exhilarating forces of up to 4 Gs and -1 G.
Tagline: "30 Stories Up. 3 Seconds Down."
Supreme Scream opened to the general public on July 3, 1998, as the world's tall turbo drop-type amusement ride. A soft opening for the attraction was held two days prior.
During its opening year, nearby residents complained about the ride's noise. This was due to the screeching, scratching, and rumbling sounds of punctuated blasts of air. To address the issue, S&S Worldwide and Knott's Berry Farm engineers would install 14-inch sound buffers in the ride's mechanics to muffle the screaming.

John Edward Berry (born September 14, 1959) is an American country music artist. Active as a recording artist since 1979, he has recorded more than 20 studio albums, including one platinum album and two gold albums. In his career, Berry has also charted 19 songs on the Billboard Hot Country Songs charts, including the Number One single "Your Love Amazes Me" from 1994 and six additional Top 10 hits: "What's In It for Me," "You and Only You," "Standing on the Edge of Goodbye," "I Think About It All the Time," "Change My Mind," and "She's Taken a Shine."
The Chicks (previously known as Dixie Chicks) are an American country music band composed of lead singer Natalie Maines and multi-instrumentalist sisters Martie Maguire (née Erwin) and Emily Strayer (née Erwin; also formerly Robison). The Erwin sisters founded the band in 1989 in Dallas, Texas, with bassist Laura Lynch and vocalist and guitarist Robin Lynn Macy. They performed bluegrass and country music, busking and touring the bluegrass festival circuits and small venues for six years without attracting a major label. In 1992, Macy left and Lynch became the lead vocalist. Following a change in repertoire, the Chicks achieved commercial success, beginning in 1998 with hit songs "There's Your Trouble" and "Wide Open Spaces".

Okay, locals, raise your hand if you tried looking for your home from the top (if you were lucky enough to sit on the side facing it).
