    Hey Richard, great to see Aladdin Sane, topping your list! It was my gateway to Bowie as my folks had it on cassette. Watch that Man and Drive in Saturday were the two that first grabbed me. Been listening to a lot of Mott this year… I Wish I Was Your Mother is such a beautiful song. Great to see ABBA in there and Country Life, though Roxy’s 2nd is my favourite. Transformer would be in my Top 10 most listened to albums… a perfect album! That was a great video Richard. cheers, Jack

      Cheers Stephen, Mud Rock was considered but I prefer Mud Rock II and Use Your Imagination but I didn't want to go past 1974

    Nice selection, I have 8 of those, no Lou Reed or ABBA thank goodness!
    I’d recommend all Alice Cooper band albums from Love it to Death to Muscle of Love, 5 albums in total, so 4 missing from your collection! 🙂

    Hi Richard- fun video that reminded me I have woefully little Alice Cooper (3) and TRex (1) 😬 Slade stuff is a bit hard to find in the US…I thought I had Slade In Flame, but I only have Rogues Gallery for some reason 🤷‍♂️ Oh well- Happy Holidays!

    • @CookieMusic43
      @CookieMusic43  19 днів тому +1

      Thanks Richard, Slade In Flame is absolute corcker of an album, possibly my all time favourite album of theirs. You have more Alice Cooper than me lol. Enjoy the festive season Richard.

    Great idea for a video Richard. I'm gutted though as I was convinced I had Billion Dollar Babies on vinyl so I went to pull it off the shelf after watching your video and it's missing (or I never had it). Don't seem to have the CD either, very strange. I did pick up 'Killer' on vinyl recently, and I also have School's Out, Welcome to My Nightmare and Live it to Death on vinyl, all of them really good although I don't know if they'd be classed as glam or not. Great to see Roy Wood make the list. Those glammy tracks by ABBA are great fun.

    • @CookieMusic43
      @CookieMusic43  20 днів тому +1

      I'll check out those early (band) Alice Cooper albums, James. I agree the glammy ABBA is great fun!

    I'm much more of a prog fan than a glam fan. But I do own 'Mott' which is by far and away my favourite glam rock album. 'Hymn For The Dudes' is a brilliant song with a magnificent soaring guitar solo by Mick Relphs.

    • @CookieMusic43
      @CookieMusic43  18 днів тому

      It is a great song as is Ballad of Mott. I also love "The Hoople" album although by that time Mick Ralphs had departed.

    • @keithf_
      @keithf_ 17 днів тому +1

      @CookieMusic43 Yeah I love Ballad of Mott as a kind of biography of the band. Never did buy 'The Hoople' album. I've read that it's considered a little inferior to 'Mott', but maybe I should buy it.

  • @6758pasi

    Going in to this, for some crazy reason i thought i would have majority of these, but only have four. The Slider has been one album i've thought about buying for many years. Never got around to it. I may have heard it back in the 80's, but i can't remember for sure.
    To me ABBA was glam in the early days.

      My guess is you have Billion Dollar Babies, Country Life, Transformer and Sweet Fanny Adams

    Ha ha, yes I was commenting on Michael Noland's video when I wrote that confusing comment, ha ha. Loveyour number one choice and Lou Reed! Glad to NOT see Sparks Kimono My House on this list. They are sometimes labelled as glam, which is pretty silly. Hope you have a great Christmas and Happy New Year!

    I’m astounded that you haven’t yet collected Alice Cooper …😂I’m 66 and it’s been Bolan, Bowie, Harley, Cooper for me…and then rock of all genres 😃…ps Had to play catch up with Slade, Sweet many years later 😀(couldn’t buy much on apprenticeship wages)😂😂😂

    • @CookieMusic43
      @CookieMusic43  17 днів тому +1

      Hi Eric, it defies logic why I have never collected Alice Cooper so maybe 2025 is the year. As you mention STeve Harley, I should have had The Human Menagarie on the list.

    I would argue that Berlin is lou Reeds best album

    • @CookieMusic43
      @CookieMusic43  20 днів тому

      It's probably my 2nd favourite of his albums but needs repeated listens

    • @22448824

      Berlin is easily Reed's best. Highly original but still accessible.

    Wot can you say about Aladdin sane? Its nearly flawless. Except for Watch that Man which is dreadful

    • @CookieMusic43
      @CookieMusic43  20 днів тому

      I agree with most of what you say. The only thing wrong with Watch That Man is his vocals are too far back in the mix.

      Personally I dont go near Alladin Sane and especially Ziggy. Heard them so many times I'm sick of them. Except for Lady Grinning Soul. Also, stopped pretending to like Low and Heroes. Except for the singles there is very little musical pleasure in them.

    Glam or not, BD Babies is one of the all time great albums.....Street Hassle 2nd verse is one of L Reed's best moments......Watch That Man is one of many great Bowie songs.....I don't visit Aladdin Sane often enough, I have it on vinyl only....

    • @CookieMusic43

      Acknowledged by whom? Probably American music journalists. Like they claim to have invented punk whereas in reality the Pistols were as far removed from the Ramones as they were Zeppelin.
