When you are looking for a clear and complete how to video on a repair, THIS is the video you want to find. Very good job sir. Thanks to everyone involved in this channel. I couldn't have asked for more. I have been a mechanic for 26 years but I rarely work on Hondas so I wondered if there might be something to watch for. AH HA! The abs trigger is invisible. Glad I watched it. Thanks so much.
You should never press a bearing in using the inner race. You should use the outer race so as to not damage the ball bearings. You most likely put a flat spot on the bearings and now the new one will make noise.
When you torqued those control arm rubber bushings you put permanent stress on them when the car sits on its tires rather than them only seeing stress when hitting bumps, this greatly shortens bushing life and also results is annoying squeaks when rocking the car. You have to put the car’s weight on the assembly before tightening these bush8ngs.
I just wanted to say great video. Very helpful. I just finished replacing the same wheel bearing on my 2006 CR-V. I did have to do a couple of things differently as I had to deal with a lot more corrosion as I live in a Canada where they use salt on the roads. I couldn't remove the ABS sensor (rusted in place). It turns out it is not necessary to remove the sensor from the hub. The bearing comes out the other side. You just have to be aware of it's position in the hub when aligning the tool used to press the bearing out and in. Secondly, I had replace the bearing without removing the hub as the alignment bolt was completely seized in the bushing. Once again, thanks for the great video.
Matthew Ambler glad the video helped. Thank you for sharing the tips that's awesome. Sometimes were working on cars just got to make it happen sounds like you did that very cool!
Thanks for the video. I did the same exact job on the passengers side of my sisters 2005 honda crv. I found the parking brake re assembly to be the most difficult part of the job. Took me a while bc that was the first time i ever did parking brake shoes. I found it tricky.. well anyway thanks again Car chk
The rotor retention screws are JIS/Iso-ph. No.3. If you don't use a pre-2000 phillips bit, it will cam out and/or damage the screws. The correct bit will fit tightly enough to suspend the driver. If you clean out the seam between hub and rotor with a little vinegar or phosphoric acid (naval jelly) the rotor will come off much easier. Naval jelly in the extraction bolt holes will help remove the corrosion and as it is pushed inward, will help separate the faces of the hub and rotor. Using a hand wrench on the extractioon bots, 1/4 turn at a time avoids stress-warping the hat. Threadlocker is NOT needed on the caliper bolts; if properly torqued they will NOT vibrate loose.
Thanks for the video. Unfortunately the bolt that adjusts the alignment was stuck inside the spindle bushing, four hours later I cut it out and had to replace the spindle too. If you are going to do this check the bolts before starting and spray them with some penetrating oil.
How you know when is a bad bearing, because the loose movement, or any anointing noise on the wheel?because iwhen i turn the steering wheel, i notice a vibration!thank, nice video!
Taking off the parking brake assy is an option to replace studs without removing the hub but what was the name of the special tool/size to remove the pair of clips ? Thanks
How easily does that axle come out? The dealership told me I need the left rear drive axle replaced on my Honda Element, which has the same rear as the CRV. Thought that was odd.
You strained every bushing in the knuckle by tightening them without the springs holding the weight of the car! Now they see the neutral position only when the spring extends.
I just had the wheel bearing in the back on a driver side changed . The ABS and the GSA worked off and on after he changed it but now the light stay on and neither are working any ideas.
@@HowtoAutomotive One last question I just checked the fuses and found one burnt . I changed it out and now the ABS and the VSA are working but as soon as I drive a short distance the lights come back on but the ABS and the VSA are still working . I checked it with my scanner and no codes came up . It would have to be the ABS sensor what do you think . The harness is simple enough to change but it's not cheap 158 bucks .
Thanks for a very informative useful video. I would politely ask you to use a stand for your camera for future videos. Your shaky hand holding was making me dizzy.
what is the process for a drum brake? i have a 2001 crv. trying to replace a smashed trailing arm, and there's 3 cables going to it, the hand brake, the abs sensor, and the hydraulic line..or whatever is the hard shelled line. it's not clear how to remove the cables. i took the bolts off the sensor, but the handbrake just goes straight into the back of the drum, and there's no bolts to take the drum off like there is for disc rotor that i can see.
Thrashaero if you go to my website howtoautomotive.com and go to the video page there's a search bar and if I have a CRV rear brake job it will be there. I have over 400 video there's a good chance I have one.
old story not s true DIY , he uses tools that average home workshop doesn't have esp the brake spring tool , instead of showing. how . hate these types of videos .

Thanks for providing detailed instructions ❤

Very good informative video I have just bought a Honda CR-V all wheel drive same as this one
MegaStevie14 the CR-V is a Great car👍🏻 glad the video helped. Thank you for watching!!

Tool0GT92 glad the was of help. Sorry you had trouble and thank you for the tip.
Excellent instructions, thanks so much for sharing.
I guess this pressing kit can be used to press out and in the bushings in the knuckle? Thanks
Great video very informative. You would recommend using the press over the hub grappler, due to safety concerns.
gsleve The hub grappler is probably safer. I like the press due to that's what I learned on and used to. Either way will get the job done.
This made the job easy and cheap
How you know when is a bad bearing, because the loose movement, or any anointing noise on the wheel?because iwhen i turn the steering wheel, i notice a vibration!thank, nice video!
The vibration is most likely coming from a bad axle

Thanks for uploading , very informative and helpful.,
how did you take out the ABS sensor ,,mine is seized..
Very detailed explanation of how to Thanks.
Michael Liang thank you. Did it go smooth for you?
what tool was used to remove the rear parking brake?
excellent video guide. again this saved me, God bless.
Numair Aidroos glad to help. Thank you for watching!
Still very useful, thank You!
How many hours is this project? Thanks for the share!
Quiana QArtistry if I remember right it was about 1 1/2 hours
Another great video! Thank you!
LOL. @ 4:01. That's when I just take the car off the rack, have it towed to the shop for repair and reassembly. LOL.
Thanks for the video though.
how long did the actual job take to complete?
How easily does that axle come out? The dealership told me I need the left rear drive axle replaced on my Honda Element, which has the same rear as the CRV. Thought that was odd.
would it be easier to buy the hub assembled?
Thanks SO MUCH for this.
Is the process similar in a 2010 CRV? And could I buy the complete assembly with the bearing already in??
Edgardo Amado as Far as doing the job yes it's going similar or possibly the same. As far as the parts I would check with your parts suppliers.
Well done.
awesome video, bro!
Hi what’s the size of Honda CRV 2006 rear wheel bearing? Thanks
It’s just unreal to see that camber bolt slide out like that it must be the only one ever to do that!
You strained every bushing in the knuckle by tightening them without the springs holding the weight of the car! Now they see the neutral position only when the spring extends.
What should a mechanic charge for this job? Parts included.
Will the 2002 be the same?
wrenchturner242 yes I believe so.
Thanks bro helpful as🇦🇺💯
Thank you for watching!
How much would this cost at a mechanic ship?
I just had the wheel bearing in the back on a driver side changed . The ABS and the GSA worked off and on after he changed it but now the light stay on and neither are working any ideas.
Sounds like something went wrong with the repair. I would take it back.

Carl Dorschner thank you and thank you for watching!
What is the tool called to remove the brake shoes
Can’t remember the technical name board but it’s a brick shoe hole down tool
Thanks for a very informative useful video.

D K thank you glad the video helped. I plan on investing in camera rigs. I want to take my UA-cam channel to the next level.
Great idea! I think you have a lot to offer to the UA-cam viewers.
You have the otc grappler already. Why use the hydraulic press?
romeo hernandez It’s a preference thing I find it faster with the press.
Do you have to do all f this to replace a broken wheel stud?
How did you do it?
How hard do I drop stuff?
The part is under 25 bucks and the labor about an hour and a half. So around 175 is the ballpark figure for the parts and labor.

My shop wants 900 to do this at $150 an hour shop rate
Whats the inner diameter side of that big receiver cup you used to press the bearing out?
Jackson Cruz I don't remember the size of it. When I get back to the shop on Monday I can measure and give you the diameters.
ID size of the cup used?
@@HowtoAutomotive ever find out?
is there a home made kit for removing bearing
Bela Hernandez not that I know of. You could take the spindle down to a shop and have them press it out
No wheel alignment needed ???
set up, because I skipped over the removal portion LOL
Excellent video. However, mine is all wheel drive.
So was this one.
I have a 2002 CRV with rear disc brakes.
armydlguy This video should help you out then.
i usually do a lot of my stuff..but i think i'll pay someone to do it..
Why would you get a RWD. You must only use them for Dodge Chargers!
It looked like a drum...
I think there's any easier way.
Metal Detecting Weekly always welcome tips. Channel is about helping.
That's such a stupid design.
