Matt, with the death of KSP2, I would love to see an updated version of this video, perhaps with mods that add some of the features we won't be getting from KSP2? I'm following this guide now as I transition back to the true Kerbal Space Program.
I don’t think I could ever thank the modding community enough for their work on KSP. The game is just gorgeous.
Honestly, KSP would've been dead years ago. if it weren't for the modders adding stuff, the community wouldn't be as huge as it is today!
Some of them were hired to work on ksp 2
@@theencolony5595 It's the same thing that made World of Warcraft so big. Allowing the community to be a part of the game is an excellent way to keep the community involved, keeping the game going, and it is free R&D. That is the one of the most expensive parts of game development, only make sense to let the community do it for free. Take the mods the community likes, add your money to make it really pop then add it to the game for a fraction of the cost.
@@jeffrowe6004 I remember the hype when KSP actually hired on the author of the Spaceplane Plus mod to add his mod into the stock game, which is one of the biggest additions to date!
@@theencolony5595 0ol0
For anyone who hasnt realised: The AVP link is doubled, just delete the duplicate and it works.
You deserve more likes. Lifesaver :D Thanks
Thanks man! had problems with it
Real heroes don't wear capes!
Ty ty
Thx so much
thanks man!
It's a treat whenever matt uploads ksp content
hey you walked on the mun
You and me have very different definition of “walk”
Yo, what's up my Kerbal boi?
Yo the legend himself
How are you still alive after spending 129 years on eve with nothing but a spacesuit?
And again I'm getting free advertisement for my mod. I'm grateful for your enthousiasm 🙂
This video was a great idea. I feel like now that the game has reached its final form, this tutorial will help out many newer players to get started. Awesome stuff!
which one is yours ?
Stock Waterfall Effects
@@knightofsaintjohn9345 nice work on that mod it looks really good
Yeah I have it too, it's amazing. I'd recommend u make the mastodon exhaust a little wider at the nozzle as it doesn't quite reach it. Otherwise, thanks again!
I know what you mean, but actually, the nozzle wall is really thick. it's based on the F1, and has a protective layer on the inside of the engine bell that burns away over time. so that's why it looks kinda weird.
this helped me so much to get things as I wanted. I used a few of these but never got the mod stack right. cheers man love your content :)
Now, what do you think of CKAN, where you don't have to fiddle around with the GameData Folder too much yourself?
Ckan seems a lot easier than messing around in the folders
Right?!
Came here to say this. I can't imagine doing this by hand anymore, what with the ~75 mods I run. Plus keeping them up-to-date when new version come out, and automatically managing dependencies? I'm baffled Matt does all of this by hand still.
I was also gonna say that...
or curseforge?
Finally Matt!, thank you for uploading this, love your videos!
CKAN is so much easier and faster for mod installs
But the whole video will be only 5 minutes max. Or it may even fit Shorts 😜
yes, it would be impossible to manage all the dependencies of my 60 mods without it.
True but it doesnt have all mods. Would be good to show both.
I checked it with VirusTotal and it said that there's an adware
@@rembojy that one goofy ahh anti virus
I just got back into KSP yesterday after not playing it for maybe 5 years. Didn't remember it looking so crusty. Gonna check out these mods; many thanks!
Thank you for making this video. I bought the game about two years ago and the mod websites were daunting to figure out. I was ashamed to ask a noob question. This is a simple to follow guide and it made my game look great.
ive been looking for videos on how to install mods for KSP in the more up to date sense since most of them are outdated, this video came out in such perfect timing!
Distant object enhancement is another fantastic visual mod that dims the skybox dynamically to simulate exposure with bright objects and also lets you see other spacecraft at great distance.
one of my favourite mods is chatterer, it adds communication between the craft and the KSC. Great video though.
I always liked the little chuckle that you hear from time to time. 🖖😀
The most useless but more esential mod ever!
Thanks matt. Its hard to tell just how beautiful the game is with these mods but now that i have them i don’t regret a thing.
You made me want to hear VVVVVV's OST again, it's been a long time and is really great. Good choice !
Thanks for this! I really couldn't find any good tutorials, really glad you made this!
Thanks Mr Matt the KerbalMaster - I have some mods but have never been brave enough to try some of the more in-depth mods. Now I will!
Dude thank you so much iv been trying to get KSP mods to make the game better and you helped me with that. I followed all your steps and it worked!
Thank you for this video! I was in a similar situation (too many outdated mods) and was lost on what mods to re-install.
Yes matts back! I love watching these ksp videos
Thanks for this! I've been wanting to upgrade visuals in the game but I really didn't know which mods were best to use. So this is very helpful!
this helped me so much thank you matt
Thank you! This should get me through the long wait for KSP2!
Another really useful mod is, Easy Vessel Switch. It allows you to aim the camera at different parts of the ship, really useful for those big rockets and space stations/bases.
Thank you so much! I finally can use the mods that I've been trying to install.
hey matt, just want to say thanks you for educating me to help my self get my self to my first orbit
I can’t play KSP without these mods. I have my pc set up the same way as Matt besides all the tools and I love the graphic enhancements, thank you for this video Matt
I've been playing KSP with mods for ages, since 0.64 or something like that. Up until only a few months ago I always modded by hand, but I just started using CKAN a few months ago and it's really smoothed out the process for me.
Thanks for the video. Enjoying KSP again while waiting for KPS2 to not be rubbish. Always struggled to get the mods working and the game looking good. Following this video I finally have amazing looking planets to crash into and stand Kerbals on. Thanks!!
Thank you so much,I was mindblown for hours from how sick the game looked!
Thanks! Always wanted this! You are a legend;)
Thanks again for all the space updates!! KSP and weekly eArth launchings!! 🚀 😎 🍻 ps can’t wait to see your KSP2 videos!
Why does this seem like a bot’s comment?
I’m joking.

Mr. Lowne--thank you thank you THANK YOU for providing a walkthrough of this process. I finally had some time to mod my game Christmas Eve night and as a Dad I have no time to figure this out on my own.
One last thing though--I also added Kopernicus/Outer Planets and now Tekto has Eve's atmosphere texture. Ever run into that one?
Thanks Matt! I haven't got around to installing mods; fatigue issues all the way this year, so I much appreciate having a tutorial. All that unzipping reminded me of building Linux from scratch back in '02. Now I think of it, I should probably wait until my ventilation issues are sorted.
@ 6:20 the start screen comes up and I'm just, "WHOA!" :D These mods are at their best ever.
Now this is the video we all need!
This helps a lot, i'm not new to your videos however I do always like a nice update on mods.
thanks for this information! Really upgraded the KSP game with great visuals!
I've been waiting to do a "Final Install" myself so this come at a perfect time :)
im so happy matt uploaded this yay
This is what i needed. Thank you so much
Matt I really like your ksp videos pls post more of them
Oh my goodness I finally know how to download mods, I love you Matt
first time downloading mods this really helped me thx
Thank you for the list, this was a game changer!
thank you so much for the tutorial this helps a lot.
This is amazing. Thank you so much!
Thank you Matt for bringing these mods togerther
When I need something in ksp, Matt has me covered.
I was playing KSP and you uploaded your video. So now I'm here ;)
Amazing! This channel is just amazing! I love how Matt actually cares about us and tries to make our life easier by leaving his craft files and mods that he is using in the description! Respect for Matt for making our life easier! Thank you Matt!
good stuff thanks Matt
That’s the VVVVVV song!!! Nice shit, had a long time without listening to that song, thanks for the memories and the tutorial Matt!
This was pleasant surprise!
Finally! New KSP video.
I’ve just built my first good space shuttle and it worked after the first three flights
This is really helpful to me mainly because I was spending ages freaking out as to why Eve was glowing pink, turns out its just meant to look like that.
Finnaly a new KSP video!
YES MATT IS FINALLY BACK
Very useful video, thank you! :)
When I opened this I at first thought it was a good looking spacecraft tutorial, this modding tutorial is way better
the legend is back
Would it not be easier to install CKAN and then tick all of the mods that you want?
Right? How did he go 1500h without stumbling on the magnificence that is CKAN?
I think he just wants the newest versions of the mods
The was actually looking for this when you uploaded it
dear god im going to cry its so beautiful
Another KSP video, nice!
After failing miserably at figuring out how to get EVE, I decided to just look up a tutorial. This was definitely what I needed, thanks a bunch! I've been watching some of your other videos and it's been really helpful through all the rocket tumbles and crash landings lol
Indeed! I don't know why but some of the files in EVE arent loading up on KSP for me like the clouds or flame particles. But the atmosphere is definately loaded in!
How are you guys able to understand anything he’s doing?
@@edvenom99 it’s just following exactly what he does on the screen but you might want to look into ckan. It’s an installer that will do everything for you with a fresh copy of the game in a separate folder
it works. it was a little too fast for me but it works. Thank you very much.
Thank you, this somehow fixed my Kerbal Engineering Redux as it stopped working after the major update
thanks matt
Thankyou Matt, Ive been using stock game from all the way back in 2014
Not played KSP in a little while, but CKAN always worked pretty well for adding mods etc... Assuming it's still a thing?
Yes but it is, and always has been, very unreliably
Yup, still a thing, both the metadata and the client are actively updated and maintained.
@@RiptionaryX Nah CKAN is great, depends on the system I suppose
@@timspiker yes its quite useful for beginners at modding, but if it fails, it corrupts your ksp files, or even breaks entire steamapps\common: folder, making you redownload all of it.
That's what i mean by unreliable, it works until it doesn't.
But yes it works.
@@RiptionaryX I've played for over 5 years and it's never failed on me... Tech gods be with me
The KSP modding community is really something special.
Me personally, I also add in parallax as well as a few planet packs (mainly OPM and EventHorizon) to spice things up.
Thank you so much! Even the jet engines sound loud!
Finally a new Kemble space program vid
parallax adds beautiful trees and makes everything very cool and detailed.
Looks awesome looking forword to some modded gameplay
I’ve always wanted my computer to explode while watching a beautiful rocket explosion 💥
Yesterday I walked through everything in ksp forums to find if someone knows what mods u use, and now, just after i woke up, you posted this video
Same
For me it’s just installing them. But I’ve only done mods for 3 days... THREE DAYS and this came out!
to make the extracting part easier (where you have to move the gamedata folder from each mod into the actual one, and merge them) you can use winrar, and simply use the extract here option, it will automaticly merge what it has to merge, and the other dll files will remain
CKAN is an excellent utility for managing KSP mods. Provided the mod-maker properly configures their stuff, it will automatically download and install dependencies, warn you of incompatible mods, suggest other mods that would compliment it well, etc. Makes life a lot easier, and it's available on Linux, Mac, and Windows.
I don't know if its a one off but I gotta really strange red line artifact on reentry in the capsule. Like a solid cylindrical red line that extends about the length of the parachute when it deploys, but the whole time once I hit atmo
Hey Matt, quick tip for you. KSP is DRM free, so if you ever want to use mods that add more new stuff (especially planets), you can copy the game's root install folder to a new location on your PC and put those mods there. That way, you can quickly switch between your heavily modded installation and your current stock-alike setup
cool cyberpunk character
Thanks a lot for helping me install module manager
the day before this video was made, i spent like 5 hours trying to make my game look like this
now there is a video the next day
The 3 most important mods for me are the docking mod, kerbal alarm clock, and kerbal engineer.
But the Kerbal Alarm Clock is pretty much stock right now.
As for Kerbal Engineer, it's not essential ever since they added in game Delta V calculators for each stage.
Only something like Window Planner could be really essential, but that works in browser, so not needed as a mod.
@@WwZa7 the alarm clock/intercept creator the game had is pretty jank though. The "real version" works so much better.
@@Th3BlackLotus What does it do better? And how would it be useful in regular game? It feels the built in clock does everything you would ever need
@@WwZa7 Well, Kerbal Engineer gives you a lot more information than just deltaV calculation.
@@DerHerrderWuerfel Yes, but it's still not essential, systems in game are already enough to do everything properly and know everything about your vessel
If anyone is wondering, no it does not lower framerate, surprisingly :)
i have the same problem so what I started portable versions. Now i have multiple portable versions each one with different sets of mods installed. I keep a spreadsheet of which ones have which mods. Try it out. it helped me out alot with this exact problem
yay ksp again u make best videos ever
ty so much man
u just gained a subscriber my friend :D
YESSSSS MORE KERBAL!!!
Beautiful
Perfect timing I just reinstalled Kerbal on my new pc with my 3080 🤩 Thank you !
no one asked
@@tw1stedgrav1ty7 No one needs to the world doesn’t revolve around you
He is back!
Matt if it is possible, you should try and make a synchronous quad orbit relays with Eeloo, If it even is possible I think that it would be pretty cool to see, even though it is completely overkill
He's back!
Thanks a lot. But how to do with the unbearably small words after setting the resolution to the highest?
the tutorial is nice enough. well done.
but i still don't know.
also i recommend chatterer, for emmersive probe beeps and crew comms
