Nikita at the end of this interview says something that wrestlers today should write down and study. He was trying to make his matches seem real. If you're not trying to make your matches and angles look like they're real, it just looks stupid.
5:00 I've never heard this said about Nikita vs Magnum, but I've heard it said about Wahoo McDaniel's matches. I think the Wrestling at the Sam Houston Coliseum book had an interview with a fan who said it about Johnny Valentine.
the barbarian approving by shaking his head in approval is priceless. wow nice moment n good old days THANKYOU Nikita you are the best bruh. stay bless n keep it moving
2:28 wow, so even Ivan and Krusher/Barry Darsow weren't informed about the face turn? Gotta wonder what they were thinking when they saw it happen. And the sickle to David Crockett was shocking! But stuff like that is what I loved about NWA/Crockett and why I was a bigger fan of NWA than WWF......the amount of realism in the booking.
What a moment in wrestling history!! Considering the times and the friction between Russia and the USA. David Crockett played the role of the proud American with his insults!! Lol!! Wrestling was the best during this time!! I believe that Magnum TA's car accident is the greatest tragedy of all time in wrestling history!! Even over Owen Hart's fall, respectfully. Magnum was next in line and he was a money draw. It's sad when you think back.
JPC had The Best Heels because they were a Heel production - even most of their Face's wrestled a Heel Style,; Ric Flair, Ronnie Garvin, Raging Bull, even Magnum TA was more of a 'Tweener - probably why they put Ricky Morton in singles matches...
I love that Nikita was all about believability and that was his goal, but that Russian accent he had back in the day just sounded like some sort of caveman. Was nowhere near believable. Even to the preteen me.
The running through the back yard and hitting a clothes line really happened to me and its scary as fk because you don’t know whats going on and i the mark from it on my neck for a while
Great moment Crockett had it coming The host made a great point about the crowd shot after but the best part it looked like Barbarian was laughing at Crockett
The Russian speaking gimmick of Ivan & Nikita Koloff was sold so incredible, I started as a JCP fan in January-March 1986 so I go WAY BACK. I believed thats how ALL Russian people spoke. NOT until I was surfing channels did I find Nikita Koloff on an evangelist show did I hear him speak English than realized he was actually an American. Damn was I floored.
Most Russian wrestlers were American and a couple were Canadian. Nikolai Volkoff was the closest to being from Russia geographically speaking, and he was from Croatia.
Running into a clothesline as a kid hurt, It happened to me several times, Dont ask me why or how lol I would gladly take a clothesline in backyard over a Nikita Cicle, ain't enough money lol love you Nikita

For me, that was one of the GREATEST moments in NWA tv history. Even I had to give Nikita a standing ovation for that.
That plus the Baby Doll slaps defined the Charlotte territory.
It was Tony that said; “Oh, my goodness! Somebody check on David Crockett!”
If anyone chooses to, go back and watch IVAN’S expression after the clothesline. He looks at Nikita like, “WTH are you doing, Scott?!”

*nodding
To be fair Nikita cracked him pretty hard with that Russian sickle. I think most people would be pretty pissed off if they got hit like that
One of my best NWA memories.....seeing David Crockett get that sickle!

It was either magnum or Jake the snake. Whom I think are legit brothers. It ended up being Jake who became the international star.
Hard to believe Nikita and Ivan Koloff aren't even Russian.
Sounds like David Crockett is maintaining kayfabe here with his side of the story.
The greatest era of wrestling ever. I still watch , somewhat because of these guys❤
Best part of Nikita ever for me was when he walked behind Dusty and turned on the 4 horseman. Priceless turn!
It was also the peak of Nikita's career. His character and skill set did not work for him to be a good guy.
Nikita should have held the NWA WORLD'S TITLE no reason why he didn't
JPC had The Best Heels because they were a Heel production - even most of their Face's wrestled a Heel Style,; Ric Flair, Ronnie Garvin, Raging Bull, even Magnum TA was more of a 'Tweener - probably why they put Ricky Morton in singles matches...
Poor children have to see this on UA-cam, and never saw it as it happened

I'm starting to think hes not Russian and his name maybe isn't Nikita probably Scott or some thing
The ref looked like he was freaking out
That was classic-great to hear Nikita explain the interview-sickle of David Crocket
Uncle Ivan said thats not a clothline thats Russian sickle.
The running through the back yard and hitting a clothes line really happened to me and its scary as fk because you don’t know whats going on and i the mark from it on my neck for a while
Had a friend cloth lined himself on a barbed wire. Ouch.
😂u too

Nikita was a threat to Flair back then and I actually thought he would get the belt in 85
I grew up in the 70-80's. I thought Koloff was really from Russia. LOL, how old were you when you found out?

Sorry but that accent was ridiculous. lol
@@jaymyers7900 He used it on Jimmy Crockett's plane with the other wrestlers.
Arn Anderson: "Scott, you're from Minnesota."
Most Russian wrestlers were American and a couple were Canadian. Nikolai Volkoff was the closest to being from Russia geographically speaking, and he was from Croatia.
That's almost like me in Detroit circa 84-85 looking up George Steele in the MI Bell phone book.
Thank goodness there was none.
It was pretty stiff. Just sayin.
It's called the Russian Sickle
Loved him and Magnums run. Pure gold
Yes he was believable and had charisma and one of the best bodies in wrestling ever.
He looked like a brick shithouse back then. He was scary to every single kid who watched mid atlantic.
They should of put the belt on him
They don't have feuds now like they did in the 1980's
As if Nikita is still putting on this ridiculous American accent.
Ha!
one of the best wrestling moments EVER
Crockett was protecting kayfabe
Great question ! I've been wondering that same question for years ! Great job !
Good times!
Nikita had the best clothes line in wrestling
It was the Russian sickle
Ivan and Nikita should had being inducted to the hall of fame !
If they go in, Magnum TA should induct them.
I still can’t get over Nikita’s “American “ accent 🤣🤣🤣
Hey what happened to his Russian accent?
Nobody liked David Crockett!!!
Nikita Koloff the best heel ever👊🏾💥. He and Uncle Ivan brought heat👊🏾👊🏾👊🏾💥💥💥💥💥💥💥
Hell yeah
No the rest were just a bunch of crying baby's
Stephanie is HOT! Is she married??
Dam,cool,1
🚨🚨 Dirty Heelz Approved 🚨🚨
Running into a clothesline as a kid hurt, It happened to me several times, Dont ask me why or how lol I would gladly take a clothesline in backyard over a Nikita Cicle, ain't enough money lol love you Nikita
Nikita Koloff looks Great 👍.
Good,job
Where is Nikita’s Russian accent?
Believability. How about that accent, Scott?
Last of the Minnesota bad boys Nikita ... Love you brother. Legend
Darsow is still with us...
