As best as I tried, I did make a mistake in this video. 39:20 - 40:34 I mentioned the Triple 305mm (12"/50 Mk 8) as being a CA gun, when in actuality it's a CB gun and therefore is not fully comparable to the Triple 203mm (SKC Prototype). While a CB can choose between the 2 guns, a CA can only select the later. I apologize for the mistake and it just means this rainbow CA gun is slightly more useful than implied in situations where you are using a CA over a CB (i.e. Hindenburg).
I hadn't realised that you hadn't done any PR reviews till now. I already have all these ships maxed out but it was very interesting to hear how they are holding up longevity wise and to hear their respective uses described so thoroughly. I'm definitely looking forwards to the PR 7 review and even reviews of previous banners to see how some old favourites are holding up.
Even after some positive things to say, Ruthless ALM still managed to appear. Will Ruthless ALM appear in PR7? Find out next time in the next exciting episode of Azur Lane Meta
I feel the same about flandre. I made her first because i like her design but my god her skills are so underwhelming. it's close to me liking it too cause i do like the theme of backline ships having high range aux guns but locking it her getting half dead is so unfun. it's a mechanic you can't work around, there's no way for me to purposefully activate it like putting certain equipment on her. maybe her fate sim will remove that requirement.
Honestly I hate that we've gotten so accustomed to waiting for fate sim/augments to buff an underperforming ship, and this seems to be the norm in other gachas as well. She shouldn't have had that HP restriction in the first place, or her secondaries should've at least already had extended range compared to normal BBs, which would further extend if she lost enough HP. I think that's a pretty good middle ground. It's still gimmicky but at least isn't too restricted. However, I do feel that Flandre is at least an improvement over previous french BBs since she has 3MGM and keeps her preload, while not having that stupid manual restriction (thanks manjuu for handicapping Clemenceau AND imposing a vichya fleet restriction on top of that) or a gun restriction (like how Richie should ideally use a HE gun or JB needing that inconsistent POS gun). She's a great addition for French enjoyers, but is otherwise pretty balanced and not super good at anything in particular.
@@WadeWontson gachas just rarely if ever do actual balance buffs unfortunately. It normally takes a large amount of backlash in the home server for such things to happen ie genshin with Zhongli. I assume the general reason being that if they buff a unit after it releases and they aren't available anymore, they'll get backlash since people skipped the unit because they were bad. Azur lane doesn't really have this problem since their gacha is so good and characters return regularly with some exceptions so they're just following the trend of never buffing character outside the unfortunately standard norm of a new buffing mechanic that fixes them. These mechanics are generally standard in gachas since they're are basically guaranteed to have powercreep over time so the normal function of augments is to help bring older units back up in power level. The problem is new units releasing with completely underwhelming power to start with or baffling restrictions that aren't even worth it.
Hell one of my biggest balance annoyances in this game was mentioned in this video. The disparity between rare hull types in this game. Aviation battleship not counting for 90% of the buffs in the game is unacceptable. same for monitors and munition ships. these already near useless hull types get shafted even more for no reason.
@tsunekofuwakage Yeah. I think one of the few exceptions is Alchemy Stars as they have directly buffed underperforming 6* units before, even without heavy backlash. I think the most recent direct buff was only a month ago? They also have a module system (refinements) as the devs don't always directly buff units, and refinements are used exactly as you described - to give older units another chance to shine. That's way better than having a unit be subpar at launch and having to wait years for a buff, it's one of my pet peeves in gachas. I don't think Flandre is bad for her rarity and I consider her one of the best french BBs (not like she has much competition lmao), but she certainly doesn't stand out among the PR6 ships.
@tsunekofuwakage There's not much to expect out of monitors and munitions ships tbh since they weren't designed to be fighting proper head to head battles irl. It would feel pretty weird if they were as strong as the other ship classes. IMO they should've been implemented differently to at least give them a purpose since there's no meta reason to bring them in the regular fleet instead of any other ship class. Maybe have a separate fleet for support ships like monitors, munitions and repair ships that can assist your main fleets in battle? But I guess subs already kind of fulfill that role.
For Felix Schultz you completely brushed over the fact that getting her to Dev 30 unlocks an extra buff. All stats gained from Auxillary Gear get a flat 30% buff to them. (ie. she gets 130 torp instead of 100 from a +10 Type 95 Pure Oxygen Auxillary Torpedo)
That is pretty standard. All DDs get 1 of 3 buffs are full upgrade. It was part of the DD patch update almost 3 years ago for the whole ship class ua-cam.com/video/qdK2lMJUzdM/v-deo.html
Honestly, flandre suffers from feature repeating on most of her skill details. The secondary gun detail is used on a lot of other ships, and most ships don't have to wait until they lose half their health to trigger it. Flandres target buff is nice, but there is other battleships which just do that... Better. It overall results in her being meh. She's mostly carried by her PR statline buffs, more than anything. And now alsace is here.
