      @@RockhillfarmYT it is terrible. 3 brand new machines. 2 blew motors one a turbo. The turbo blew the replacement motor because service didn't remove the caps. Same issue blew 1 of the 2 replacement motors. Could be our dealership, could be bobcat. Either way, we (after a control learning curve) love our cats.

    Brock, I was reading Bill's comment and I had the same thoughts exactly. I'm trying to think of what you can do with a skid steer than you can't do with your current tractor and an excavator. The only thing that comes to mind is that they are extremely maneuverable in a tight space. But a mini with a high flow rate can run a post hole digger, a bushhog, and a jack hammer...plus it's a bulldozer and a true digging tool. You can knock down buildings, separate trash piles (with a thumb), dig stumps, dig ponds, bury water pipe, electrical, and large farm animals for side work. When I bought my mini earlier this year, those are the thoughts that went through my mind as a farm tool, but also as a potential "for hire" business in the future. Thoughts?!

    • @RockhillfarmYT
      @RockhillfarmYT  2 роки тому

      So to begin with I don’t have a ton of experience on either having only rented them.
      I do want to use it to earn an income and I think the best way to do that is to specialize?
      Getting some thing like a forestry mulcher on the skid steer? Or a much more capable stump grinder than the one I have?
      I think both machines can run a variety of equipment it’s just which one does it better.
      Also if I get a capable machine I still have to be able to haul it so I’d like to be at 12,000 pounds or less with attachments
      Comments like yours should inform my decision over the next month while I wait on my truck to get here
      The mini excavator does open you up to trenching for things like septic lines or French drains
      Being able to move a full bunk of Plywood would save me about an hour of work every week in my main business but that is not a soul determining factor on a machine at this price

    When I was younger I didn't need a code to prevent me from going too fast, I was terrified to go past 20% throttle. As far as the door goes new roll over doors are vastly superior, kubota and takeuchi have them. You can get out instantly no matter where the bucket is

    Get a kubota skidsteer where the door opens inside the cab instead of opening out which gets in the way of the attachments and lifting the boom. Also you can operate the skidsteer with the door open which is a very nice option when you don't need an enclosed cab.

    I would probably go with a mini ex over a skid steer since i have a tractor that can do almost everything the skid steer can do, the skid steer would get those things done faster yes but i would think the mini ex would allow me to do more jobs in combo with my tractor vs a skid steer and tractor combo.. just my opinion.

    FEEDBACK:
    I. The placement of the control station is VERY VERY INCONVENIENT!
    * I don't want to have to "reach out" at full arms length whenever I want to "scroll through" my information for my machine.
    * I want the controls down at "eye level" or "chest level" or "waist level", either in front of me or to the right hand side so it's very very convenient and I don't have "squint my eyes" to see all the details.
    * At $75k, it should be easy to use, convenient to use, and within reach.
