You are more than welcome Kathi, wasn't it just beautiful, it almost looked unreal as I approached it, I was praying so hard it would be open and my prayers were answered ❤️❤️
The beauty of this Abby took my breath! I had to watch this one two times because it was so full of features that I assumed I had missed some and I did. Wonderful, Sue!!! Thank you for taking me along.
Wish I could have taken more time to slowly go to each little piece but I had a 4 hour trip to do and part 2 of this one, night comes quick here in Ireland now ❤️❤️
Sue, I never seen anything as stunning as that Abbey. The carvings, the arches, the windows & the detail. Its in mint condition for its age. Thank you so much x💙
What an amazing Abbey, so beautiful even when seeing it in a ruined state. The detail and craftsmanship is a testament to the men who built it, plus it's still standing all these years later, just amazing. Imagine the amount of times the monks have walked on the same flagstone floors as you have now walked, and climbed those stairs many times each day all those years ago. It certainly is beautiful place and the Dovecote a symbol of peace with all the doves nesting. Thank you so much Sue 💕🇦🇺
Thanks Liz, yes I could imagine the prayer the chanting etc in their and the echo it must have made, I believe in residual energy and I'm sure the walls of the abbey is packed full of peaceful energy ❤️❤️
I'm AMAZED at how long the ruins of the abbey and the dove Cote have lasted!! The craftsmanship is SOOOOOO BEAUTIFUL and detailed!! They sure don't make things like they used to, do they??!! The scenery around the Abbey is ABSOLUTELY STUNNING!! I could've stayed there for hours!! Thanks for sharing this journey with us, Sue!! XXXX
They're all stunning but I believe this one is my favorite so far! It's amazing that it's been there since the 12th century and even survived a fire! Thanks for showing us!
Serenity Sue... CONGRATULATIONS on your subscriber's. Your vids. Are ALWAYS AWESOME ❤️❤️❤️. The Beauty of IRELAND & the HISTORY you tell is FANTASTIC ‼️‼️‼️🍀🍀🍀🍀🇮🇪. WILL Always love your vids‼️‼️‼️ THANK YOU FOR SHARING 💖💖💖from SYDNEY AUSTRALIA 👍👍❤️❤️😁🇦🇺
Amazing sue it must have taken the stone masons years to carve. Out all the stone just absolutly amazing such a beautiful serene place . I just loved it thankyou sue so much.
Hey Sue, another great video! This one was super on manly levels. Just considerimg the age of the Abbey alone, the quality of the construction (even with a few fires and it being rebuilt) is amazimg. Yeah when you approached the gate i kept thinking "be open" lol, and am so thankful that it was. We could soo easily spend a lot of time here, just taking it all in, and soaking up the history. And thanks for showing us a dovecote, I had no idea what that was, n never heard of it before! Are there many of those around, do you know? A great vid from top to bottom, thankx! :)
I've never seen a dovecote before, now I have seen beehive structures in Ireland before but I think they were either dwellings or churches or burial Chambers never have I seen one like this, how creative were they, in part 2 we meet family that on there headstone says they lived in the abbey, which makes me believe it be am a dwelling how after the monks finally left ❤️ thanks as always John ❤️❤️
The Abbey is beautiful.I love all the carving in there and the arches are just beautifully made. You can just imagine how it looked with all its glorious coloured glass and the candles lit throughout sparkling off all the silver on the Altar and the cross. All the alcoves in the walls would have had brightly coloured statues, and all the pews dark oak and sparkling in the candle light ,and when the sun shon through the coloured glass there would be pretty colours cast about adding colour everywhere..The atmosphere in there must have been so peaceful and glorious..The outside buildings is. Where the Monks would have lived and the grounds originally would have sustained the m all.The pigeon /dove cote.I think you will find it was pigeons because they ate pigeons throughout the centuries in pies,as cooked like you would a chicken.and other ways.it was another form of meat for a long time in the U.K..Not now though .Thank you for this fabulous adventure, and the old graveyard was really cool too..Love n Light 🥰
The abbey is beautiful as is the cemetery and scenery. The details in the abbey were stunning. I to often wonder about the people and what their lives were like.
I'm glad you were able to get that gate open! It's a stately old abbey and your filming did it justice. The carvings on the interior were intriguing, and I've never seen a dovecote like that either.
Absolutely amazing, it's a wonder in it's own. You know when something so ancient is still standing the builders knew what they were doing, unlike what is built today. To see the actual tombs inside the abbey still in one piece is priceless, how I love your land. I am so happy you move about the grave sites, and read the stones, I am always looking for an ancestor long gone, I would have a heart attack if you run across one. I have a few that were from Ireland, but unfortunately, never knew what part of Ireland they were from. Loving your videos, and am trying to catch up with your older ones. Thank you so much for these.
Hey Sue, heres an FYI for you n everyone, there was a story on The Today Show this morning re how climate change, storms n heat etc, is damaging ancient European castles. The reporter was at Edinburgh castle in Scotland but i thought of you n our group, so many of the very old abbeys n churches etc, we've been to have weathered many storms over the centuries. Some have fared better than others re the condition theyre in, n of course this extends to the headstones n sculptures too. The report mentioned how teams will track decay of structures w digital mapping, etc., and do what they can to make the appropriate repairs. When we go on our tours its always uplifting to see some level of upkeep to the building or cemetery, these places and the ppl at rest there should not be forgotten. So thankx again for all you do! :)
Ireland has so many amazing ruins . I did a study abroad program in college in London. We took a trip to Ireland 🇮🇪 for a week . We called it storming the ruins…. We’d investigate and take photos.🌴🌴
I'm running out of adjectives to describe Ireland's beauty. Just stunning. I wonder why they would construct a pyramid shaped mausoleum? Must be meaning behind it. Thanks again.
Hi, thank you, I have a short video in Arklow of an even more impressive mausoleum, which I hope to go back to soon and properly video it, it's so worth the trip back ❤️❤️
I think the community went all out as some sort of apology for the way these men were treated all those yrs ago, I think they really made a beautiful place for them ❤
I love all the niches and windows 💕 so amazing 🙏🥰 Beautiful Tombs amazing how much work it took to make them, they are just absolutely Gorgeous 🥰‼️🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
The Abby and surrounding area are beautiful! The Abby ruins are in good condition, considering their age. Chiseling the face off of the effigy was a chicken s#$t thing to do. The dovecote was interesting. The little cemetery is pretty cool, especially the pyramid mausoleum. The entire area is beautiful! Did I understand you correctly, did you say that the manor house is boarded up? That means no family living there anymore, which is unfortunate. Thank you very much for another great video Sue and GV. I wish you and your family a happy New Year.
My Great Grandfather came from Tipperary. He migrated to Scotland I imagine? In the 1800's? My Father used to tell me he was known ( my grandad) as The wild man of Tipperary? He was a bare Knuckle boxer! I don't know if this was true? My Dad was a good storyteller! 😃 Grandad was named James Lester. Of course he must be buried in Bellshill in Glasgow. Where he migrated to. Love your videos Sue. Thanks for your time and energy! Andy.

What a beautiful place you are at
The Abbey is beautiful. Is the Knight buried there, it does look like a tomb. Thank you Sue ❤.
Yes it says its the knight alright with his dog at his feet, teeth showing so it means loyalty but also the owner died a violent death ❤️❤️
@@SerenitySueGraveyards I heard about the dog, his teeth but missed about the violent death and that he was buried there. Thanks for filling me in.

There are many images of kilcooly house online both interior and exterior it was a beautiful place at one time but it looks derelict at the moment
I'd love to go back in time to see if they ate well and what their homes were like
I'd imagine they grew their own food, probably kept animals too and were self sufficient, the land surrounding the abbey is so beautiful too ❤️❤️
