I had a blue angel with that same power supply resistor already replaced. A grid resistor too. The good thing about working on Fenders is they give you a layout along with the schematic. Almost nobody does that.
Hi, I have a question for you about my Mesa Boogie Tremoverb amp. I recently sent my amp from Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada to Mesa in California. They repaired my amp and it does play alright, but it has an extreme amount of noisy floor when you turn up the amp even without playing anything through the amp. Mesa said there was nothing they could do. I don't recall this amp being this noisy when I first bought it back in 1995. I recently bought a Ceriatone HRM Dumble amp style amp and this amp plays incredible and has almost virtually no noise floor with the amp turn up high and this is a high gain amp. I would never buy another Mesa amp. Too many things that can go wrong with these amps, unlike point to point amps. Any advice in regards to the noise floor problem with this Tremoverb would be greatly appreciated thanks from Michael Newell from Niagara
Nope. As I remember it was like $230-$280 worth of tubes that was totally un-necessary. 50 cent resistor...... of course it took a few minutes to figure out where the problem was. Several more minutes to safely remove and replace the resistor. Thanks for watching.
I love, love, love my Blue Angel combo 1X12 custom amp. This is my second one I’ve had and by far the amp is the best one I could ever ask for!

Cool Charles, I love getting these lessons from you, thanks!
Thanks Drew, comments are always appreciated.
Any ideas on lowering the hum and hiss from a Mesa Blue Angel?
No every case is different.
Could you reduce the hum and hiss in mine? Amp works well otherwise
Get in touch with me by e-mail through the contact info in the about section. We will discuss it.

Those amps have the most Mojo built in hands down!
Now see, that is a board that looks like it would be easier to repair than some of the crazy, crazy complicated stuff out of Petaluma
As a Boogie goes, this is an easy one. They are certainly good at squeezing a lot of stuff in one spot.
I wonder why Mesa put that anemic value resistor in there?
Another mystery of the world. Although I have my suspicions. Several years ago I was an authorized service center for Boogie, I dropped them.
nice work, those tubes aren't exactly cheap.

I’m guessing by now that amp has probably in true Mesa fashion burnt out it’s traces.
Nope, still going strong. But as a "former" (by my choice) Boogie authorized service..... I hear ya.
I was thinking about getting one of these. Now having looked inside, I'll pass.
That borders on nepotism.
