    I have seen so many old watercolor paintings start to get mold spots under the glass. Even if you clean and reframe the mold is in the paper. I feel that it would definitely prolong the life of the painting to seal the front and the back.

    Hi , thanks for this video. I love your channel. So I made a watercolor painting on canvas and I also bought the Krylon Kamar Varnish to seal it. My question is, will it change the colors of my painting ?

      @@AllisonLyonArt Thanks, I ended up taking the risk and sprayed it back and forth, up and down. It looks awesome! No bleeding of the paint and it didn't darken the color. It looks so shiny thanks again for your video. I subscribed to your channel !😊blessings

    Will the artwork smell if you use this spray? Worried that it will give my bookmarks and paintings a bad odor.

    Hello! :) I make cards and color my stamped images with watercolor pencils, and I worry the colors will fade from sunlight. If I varnish the stamped images, will it save them from fading from sunlight?

    • @AllisonLyonArt
      @AllisonLyonArt  3 роки тому +1

      Hi! I'm not 100% sure, but it must help at least a little. If you're worried about the color fading, be sure to use high-quality watercolor pencils/paint. Artist quality paint is less likely to fade in sunlight :)

    If a watercolor painting is sealed is it then ok to frame it in the future under glass?

    • @hannahcrumley3103
      @hannahcrumley3103 3 роки тому +1

      Will sealing them help protect them from moisture in storage (like humidity)

    • @AllisonLyonArt
      @AllisonLyonArt  3 роки тому +1

      Yes you can frame it under glass even if you seal it!

    • @AllisonLyonArt
      @AllisonLyonArt  3 роки тому +1

      To be honest, I don't know if that'll protect from moisture. I wish I could better help you with that question!

    so i would definetly need a spray right? i have a water based varnish but its in a jar, i suppose when i try to apply it it will ruin the watercolor?

    • @AllisonLyonArt
      @AllisonLyonArt  3 роки тому +3

      In my opinion, I wouldn't use the water based varnish ~ I haven't tried a varnish like that but I would be afraid it'd ruin my watercolor. I would recommend the spray varnish I shared about :)

      So what I want to spray artwork after or before because I made a watercolor painting for a friend and it's on a 16 x 20 size and I worked really hard on it it took me hours and I was told to use polyurethane spray but nobody specifically said what kind so should I stick with what you have provided in the video the acid-free spray from Krylon ? And do I spray the canvas after I've already painted? Do I take it outside to the yard and spray and let it dry for a little bit and then spray it again or can I just do one coat? And will it seal the watercolor well enough my painting is like brick colored brownish red and brown and grayish white so I know it's gonna turn a little bit on the yellow from what I'm hearing but I'm okay with that I don't think it'll be too bad for but I'm just more curious on getting the right kind of spray and knowing that I'm spraying it correctly if I spray it after I've already painted and how long does it take to dry? and how many coats and what kind should I get should I stick with what you have in your video? Did you touch on all of my questions please and thank you I know nothing about ceiling because I don't use watercolor often enough and I don't need to seal most of my other work because I don't use watercolor except only recently have started

    • @AllisonLyonArt
      @AllisonLyonArt  3 роки тому +4

      @@halleluiah01 I would use the Krylon spray I mentioned in this video. The can says it's non-yellowing and I've used it many times with no problem! I would start with one coat. Since it's a large painting, you could do two coats in case you didn't spray everywhere with your first coat. It usually takes 2 hours to fully dry. And I would spray it outside or in a garage. Lay your painting on a larger sized piece of cardboard and then spray. This way you don't spray the floor or grass or wherever you're spraying! I think I answered everything, if I didn't just let me know :)

    • @AllisonLyonArt

    Hi A thanks for this wonderfully clear video. Sadly, mine worked until my painting caught fire?! Other viewer should be aware of the danger of spraying the painting with a candle or insence burning nearby. I'm a dumbo for not realizing INFLAMABLE doesn't mean fire retarded. Thanks again.
