Lots of people saying Erastes's death was too quick but I think it was perfect. When they are arguing after he kills Eirene's husband he tells him something along the lines of "never demoted, straight to the top" in a bitterly manner. Given the first scene of the series and this comment as well as the historical character from Caesar's commentaries being a centurion, I guess the story implies a bit that he was demoted several times before the start of the series. Besides, he doesn't know how to read, and for an officer that's more important than being a successful operative/ good at killing. If it wasn't for Vorenus partnering him many of the missions wouldn't likely end that well.

I have to wonder whether the crowd is staring at Vorenus and Pullo because they're covered in blood and carrying a severed head, or because they recognize the head as Fulmen's, the former "boss" of the Aventine? At this time, Romans going about the city covered in blood with severed heads would not be all that shocking a sight. Some of the people in the city are old enough to remember the reign of Sulla, when you could be killed and turned in for bounty by anyone else in the city, if your name happened to appear on the dictator's list of enemies.

Beheading is actually a beautiful fucking death: In a huge portion of cases, the heads will remain alive and conscious after being separated from the body, surviving up to several minutes, during that time they'll understand what's happening and feel pain while dying of asphyxia, while burning alive is the most physically painful death, asphyxia is the most distressing as it causes terror, some divers who run out of oxygen after getting lost in underwater caves have been pulled out with no nails and bloodied fingers as they died scratching the walls desperately trying to get out. The cleaner and faster the cut is and the farther away it's from the brain, the more likely it'll be for the head to remain alive.
+Selling the Second Amendment. Agreed. Vorenus was an efficient killing machine. Like Pullo told young Augustus, I never actually tortured anyone, we have specialist for that.
+Adino1 Right, even with Saddam Hussein and his kids you see huge personality changes. Saddam believed that torture and power where tools, Udai was crazy. Udai would rape, beat, or murder people just because they pissed him off. Saddam only did it to protect himself and his regime. A car bomb explodes, then you torture a few key witnesses to find out who set it up. Americans use waterboarding, it's smart of them because that kind of "torture" doesn't leave a mark. I use quotations because I'm not a bleeding heart, I'm not the kind that cries over lethal injections or hunters shooting lions. I think a lot of modern people would probably not survive ancient Rome if they stumbled into a time machine and ended up there.
Selling the Second Amendment. Funny you said that, I was talking about the difference between Uday and Qusay Hussein the other day. Qusay was the younger son but clearly the one Saddam picked as successor.
Vorenus is a man of justice. He won't met out a punishment too terrible. I know Erastes is completely horrid but to slump down to his level would only be more detrimental. Vorenus is right to execute him cleanly

Lucius should have poured hot grease on him
missyadams Yes. Then cut off his head...Damn Right that he did. Agree
missyadams Lucius wasn't a barbarian or a sadist, it wasn't in his nature. Killing him was enough for him.
Again, we miss another fight scene in Rome. Damn you, thrifty camera focusing.
"Flavio's not coming..."
Remember when this and Battlestar Galactica were on next to each other on Sunday nights? Best night of TV ever.
Here in Australia it was Galactica on Wednesday night and Rome on Thursday night.
Kevin McKidd is a such a good actor.
I couldn't help but like Erastes because he died like man.
Me too 👍
This is the justice which should be dispensed to our worst criminals.
He died trolling Vorenus lolz.
My two favourite heroes/ anti heroes rip pullo you magnificent man
Vorenus is a man of justice. He won't met out a punishment too terrible. I know Erastes is completely horrid but to slump down to his level would only be more detrimental. Vorenus is right to execute him cleanly
Octavian said that it's necessity to torture prisoners. They also should torture him to reach the truth.
That blood curdling moan Vorenus does before releasing Fulmen's head...
If only Augustus had been there- he’d be able to deduce that he was lying.
Or Posca
Pullo just wants to go home and eat peaches
He can...now.
RIP Ray Stevenson. XIII!
@@NorthForkFisherman 🙏
RIP Ray Stevenson!
Erastes did not know who he was fucking with. Threating seasoned veterans? And not just veterans, the best two fighters in all of Rome!
My boy Pullo
"Nothing like a good Falernian grape, is there." says a man about to die, and who knows it.
He realizes he's a dead man.
Flavio's not coming!
It's kinda big irony because Vorenus used to be a rational person but when things get crazy, he can get crazier than pullo. And pullo is only person who can keep his cool
I find this scene darkly funny . Here's Erastus laying there muttering to himself while chilling out and all the while he's totally oblivious to the danger has in, even though there's the sound of a battle just out door 😂
I AM A SON OF HADES!!!!
Does anyone know what is the song playing at the end of this episode? It plays during the conclusion scene. We see Vorenu's daugther as slaves. Please help out .Thanks
Looks like Vorenus and Pullo went into Soldier mode pretty merciless no prisoners.
Rome, along with Band of Brothers, was some of the best to come out of HBO.
A close 2nd is The Wire.
No cell phone in sight, just people enjoying the moment...
Let this be a lesson to you: always torture your enemies before you kill them. Might've gotten the truth that way.
Dos amigos en las buenas y en las malas
Best HBO series ever
love killed the guy walk around with his head, and no one said a dam thing.
Would you?
@@craigmcdougall755 I would shit my pants hard
Flavio isn’t coming
If only we still had shows like Rome
Erastes was wearing that bling bling before it became cool
To quick
Incorrect.
