I'm fairly sure your body will shut down of a heart attack etc once the temp really starts to rise, the air will be too hot to breath in after a minute or so of the fire being lit.
As bad as this sounds, it still sounds better than having your tendons slowly stretched until they finally snap or by being slowly crushed under enormous weight. The most successful torture devices all the way from antiquity and all the way up to modern times are the ones that work the slowest, or the ones that bring you to your brink over and over again. I would assume that torture is most effective when there are psychological elements added to it.

The first five minutes of stubbing my toe is torture enough.
Stubbing your toe on round objects hurts less. The foundation my mattress is sitting on the edges are round & I have stubbed my toe a few times, you can basically just feel body part hit but no pain because instead of hitting an object that has an edge your toe or kneecap or whatever just slides right off.
Needless to say best $165 I ever spent
I don't understand why he doesn't just throw himself into the side until it tips over.

I think the bulls worse. You'd die from the smoke faster if you are on fire right? But the bulls iron getting to crazy temperatures and doesn't matter where u turn how u try to sit up or anything. Just sizzling flesh.

So this is basically death by barbecue. I'd question how long it actually takes them to die though; the heating of the air would scorch the victim's lungs and cause them to die of hypoxia before the actual burns killed them.
