How on earth did you get to ground source costing 30% more to run than air source?

      Hi there,
Thanks for getting in touch. The research for this video was conducted in 2023 - please see our disclaimer in our description. Prices may have changed since this time and as always, costs depend on individual circumstances and property type. We always suggest conducting thorough research before choosing the right heating system for you.
      Thanks

@@ElectricRadiatorsDirect So rather useless then, as not comparing like for like.
      A better comparison would be
Average UK household heating = 10,000kWh
Give a generous Gas and Oil Boiler efficiency of 90%.
Air Source Heat Pump SCOP between 3 and 5.
Ground Source Heat Pump SCOP between 4 and 6.
Price per kWh of Electricity: 24.5p
Price per kWh of Gas: 6.04p
Price per kWh of Oil: 6p
      Annual Consumptions:
      Electric Radiators: 10,000kWh
      Gas and Oil Boilers: 11,111kWh
      ASHP: 2000-3333kWh
      GSHP: 1666-2500kWh
      Annual cost at price cap:
      Electric Radiators: £2,450
      Gas: £671
      Oil: £666
      ASHP: £490-£817
      GSHP: £408-£612
With the caveat that all electrical based sources can make use of time of use tariffs, solar, and battery storage to save on costs.

electric heating will cause more cancers from higher magnetic fields there by contributing to net zero population reduction
