  • This is an Ole Hickory CTO smoker with propane gas, smoking pork butts for pulled pork using charcoal briquettes and Hickory wood chunks. The smoker was built in 2022.

    In this video you're using charcoal as main fuel source yet you have the propane plugged in - is the sort of intent from OHP to have a split in there and let propane keep the temp?

      Yes sir. Charcoal as main source of fuel, and the propane gas assist will not only get the Charcoal started. But also make sure temp doesn't drop below desire temp setting. It'll kick on and off as needed. And hickory wood splits on top of the bed of Charcoal for wood smoke flavor!

    How even does it cook from top to bottom?

      There's a convection fan that circulates the air inside. It pushes along the back wall and brings the smoke around the top to the bottom, and bottom to top

      If you're doing bbq in your restaurant or catering business then absolutely would recommend! Nothing gives more smoke flavor than natural wood splits. 20x more flavor than what a pellet grill can produce. And it's just as easy to use with the propane gas assist.
