RGN Linda! You are the first Black African woman I have come across as an ACP and you do not disappoint at all! Watching your video gave me the confidence to apply for this role. Big thanks to the person who asked for your IG handle. If you did not answer I would not have known that you offer career coaching and mentoring 🤗 As an African in this UK, it is easy to doubt one’s ability, especially when your dream job is oversaturated with people who do not look like you. Seeing you has reignited my fire. We can do this
Thanks for the lovely feedback, it's so encouraging to hear such kind words, this is your reminder that you can definitely achieve anything you want regardless of the obstacles, sending you lots of positive energy and hope it all goes well for you 🥰🥰
Hi all Linda, just got my Final result!! Officially an ACP! How is your journey going? How close are you to completion? I remember looking at this video and smiling at the good information you gave. Good luck with everything!
Your video was so informative. My practice wouldn’t support me on the ACP even though i was offered funding. So now i am going through a longer route. Currently doing my prescribing luckily my training hub funded that but my emergency care course i am funding myself. I am hoping to work in A&E which i will have to do as a band 5 get some experience there and apply for the ACP. Seems like theres so much hurdles to get through just to have be supported through the course.
Welldone for continuing to push despite the obstacles.. you could try applying for a trainee post at a different trust then transferring jobs once the ideal ACP post becomes available in ED.. That way you may not need to work as a BAND 5 in ED to become an ACP in ED
@@LindaJustina Thank you i will look into this. If you can you should do some videos of your experience on the course etc and tips for us future ones to consider. All the best in all that you do 🙏🏽🌹
hi linda! as a nurse of four years with a bachelor’s looking to immigrate to the uk with a student visa to obtain my advanced nurse practitioner’s license, what is the best way to apply to schools with US prerequisites?
Good afternoon Linda. Thank you so much for this video. I will like to ask, do I need to have a MSC in Nursing before I can be an ACP or I can just do the MSC in ACP straight up. Also, I work in the theatre currently, and I will like to be an ACP. Thank you
@olufunkeatejioye3273 You don't need a MSc in Nursing, your Bachelor's in Nursing Degree is fine as there's no point in having two masters... You just need to apply for a trainee ACP role and then complete your Master's in Advanced Practice (part time) while working as a trainee ACP
Question for you Linda please, Can you apply for the MSc in ACP without being under an NHS Trust/ employer? Every university I've seen has asked as a requirement that you have to have a reference from your employer to say there is a need for an ANP or ACP and you also need a mentor at your place of work. So it seems you need to apply for an apprenticeship role. Thanks Luke
@luketaylor2351 Technically there is no rule stating you cannot self fund the ACP program but you'll need your employers support to complete your clinical supervision hours as mandated by Uni.. E.g for some modules at Uni, you’ll need a qualified clinician/ doctor or consultant to assess you doing different clinical skills in order to sign you off as competent. If you self fund, it may be difficult to find an assessor and you'll need your employer to authorise this.. BUT If you're employed/sponsored as a trainee ACP by a hospital or trust this is automatically provided for you. This is why the Apprenticeship route is the easiest route Hope this helps
@LindaJustina Thanks Linda that's really helpful. I suppose would there be scope to organise that yourself? At present I'm a dual qualified nurse and physiotherapist. With 17 year's experience as a nurse to a band 7 level and nearly 2 years experience as a physiotherapist. I would suppose the best route for me would be through nursing and seeking an ANP trainee role?
@luketaylor2351 Sounds like you have a very impressive CV already - both clinical and leadership experience. Just apply for Trainee ACP roles, make sure your CV shows off your best skills and experience and see how it goes from there. Alternatively you could look at doing individual modules at Uni e.g health assessment module or non medical prescribing and once you get that, put it on you CV for TACP post... That gives the impression that you've kinda started the ACP modules (and you won't be starting the masters from scratch) plus will give you an advantage in job interviews.
5 stars for you. I’m beyond excited to see a WOC taking that role. I did see in some places that you need to be a band 6 to apply and become band 7 as trainee and on completion band 8A. Can you work in GP as ACP
Thanks lovely 😍... it's work in progress for me as I'm still training.. there's a common misconception that you need to be a Band 6 first before you apply but that's not true although it can vary depending on employer The criteria usually says you need to show evidence of leadership but doesn't have to be Band 6 You can also work in community and GP setting as well
Hi Linda, your video is fantastic. I already have a MSc.Nursing degree but it wasn’t an ANP program. Do I need to do another MSc related to ANP? And what are the chances for a care home nurse to become a ANO in GP practice ?
Thanks for the lovely feedback, so you will need a Msc in Advanced Clinical practice to become an ACP. MSc in Nursing won't be enough however you can study at Uni and work as a trainee ACP at the same time. Nurses in care homes can apply for trainee ACP post in GP setting however bear in mind that this is a very competitive role with usually very experienced applicants so consider expanding your experience to give you the best chances and also check the job advert requirements.. hope you find this helpful
Hi linda i have been working as a RN band 5 in A&E I just have 3 years of experience and 1 year post registration. What are my chances of getting accepted in a trainee ACP role ? Would appreciate your input 😊
Working in specialised areas such as ED, ICU, Neonates could give you an advantage Having completed post graduate modules, working in a leadership roles such as a junior nurse manager (Band 6 nurse) could also give you an advantage All of these are not essential requirements but could be beneficial to have ❤️
If I’m a new grad nurse can I apply for an anp trainee job and then apply for the masters in acp without the the 3 years experience almost like an apprenticeship?
You will need to have some post graduate experience as a Nurse first... to study for the master's in Advanced Practice, one of the university requirements is to have 3 years post graduate... Also you will need a trainee ACP job to do the apprenticeship as you have to complete your portfolio (to get this , you will also need RN experience) plus evidence of leadership.. You will need your experience as a RN to be able to help you be a good ACP.. hope that helps 😊
To the best of my knowledge, this program is not currently open to international students currently living outside of the UK. if you're in the UK as a Nurse or any of the other allied healthcare field , you could potentially apply even if you were trained outside of the UK, hope this helps 👍
There are mental health Advanced Clinical Practitioner roles you can apply for but you will need to start off as a trainee ACP, complete a Masters in Advanced Practice to become a mental health ACP.. Simply a Masters in Mental Health Nursing won't be sufficient
I have been waiting patiently for this n finally you are here dishing out the most lovely and intuitive information. Thanks love💚. I have a lot of video suggestions n questions for you. Please share your IG handle🙏

Are there job roles as an ACP (physio-sector) outside of UK?
Is it an established known role outside UK

Can someone with a Pharmaceutical science degree but has been working as clinical research scientists transition into the ACP role?
I know there's scope for pharmacists to become ACP but not sure about research scientists
