Bowled in April. Brought up. Harsh Reality, Idol Solid, iQ 78U, Honeybadger Extreme Blow, Hustle Chili (international) & Mix. Ball selection overall for me I thought was ok but played the lanes bad. Especially in team event. Looking back now wish I had the Attention Star over the Harsh Reality. I felt I could have managed with the Idol as the Strong solid piece in the bag. I do think the Lightning Blackout would have looked good at some point likely in team event if I had it then.
I bowl in the jackpot classic at the Orleans and in 2023 the oil pattern i took a ebi overseas magenta urethane hammer sanded to 360, the Geico viz-a-ball sanded to 180 grit , and a overseas obsession super polished. And i used the magenta urethane hammer up the gutter and had it hitting hard and switched to the Geico viz-a-ball and impressed ej tackett and Marshal Kent with it and heard them say they haven't seen anyone hook a plastic ball like i can , this year on a different oil pattern and different type of oil i was using the ebi overseas magenta urethane hammer and had the storm zero gravity and hyroad x ( i threw the magenta urethane hammer ALOT beside the arctic vibe. ) and people where telling me you and urethane aith the high rev rate. And the look on their faces when i told them i am a low rev rate player and it is all body strength combined with my wrist and elbow torque. Hopefully one year i will bowl nationals because it sounds awesome.
Hey I am bowling the USBC Nationals this year in July. My 5 balls plus my spare ball will be 1 Urethane IQ 78 U 2 Magic Gem 3 Attention Star 4 Summit 5 IQ Tour solid
Getting left too early can def hurt both you and whoever else is on the pair. Knowing when it's time (and more so making your spares) is what separates the players who score and those who don't. I think I stayed right too long and didn't trust what I was seeing. Good progressions overall! Thanks for the video!
I bowled Nationals at the end of May and did better than I have ever done. I used only one ball for all six games in D/S and never had to move a millimeter. I just threw my Carbide Tank at 500 grit straight up 3/4 board and the pattern never broke down for me, it held up perfectly for all 6 games. Of the four bowlers on my pair, two were lefties and one was a right hander playing left of me, so I had the gutter all to myself. The gutter is the key on the D/S pattern. You don't have to use urethane, resin up the gutter works very well. Just use a resin ball with a weaker core and weaker layout and put surface on it.
@@egibs3565 If that were true it should play the same across the entire lane. According to all the posts and reviews from people coming back from Nationals so far, it's extremely slick outside the 5/6 and very reactive/overhooking inside the 10 🤷
@@SgtPhroste it's flat. SEVERAL PBA guys I know have already told me. Team is 42 feet and D/S is 38. So yes if you miss inside on D/S is going through the nose or left. And if you play shiny balls on team it's not coming back. 5-7 with surfaced urethane or strong Asymmetrical has been working and it's controllable and scoring. And no that's not true that they would all play the same, the topography is different on every lane. The corner lanes hook more earlier, the higher number side break down easier, the lanes in the 30s you can play right longer. But the pattern itself is pretty flat
@@LuisNapoles man it was a little rough, I left with more money than I came with though. I'll be back in August. I told Ryan I wanted to bowl with y'all 👍🏾
I was led to believe the Absolute Power R2S Deep was not considered a strong cover, but was in the lower part of the Storm strength chart. Does your experience indicate otherwise? Thank you for the videos!
Luis, good luck at Nationals. that is an interesting arsenal for Nationals. I have a follow-up question from a video you did 18 months ago on Replaceable Thumbs. I am thunking of going to replaceable thumb and after looking at the Turbo, Vise, Ultimate and JoPo. I was wondering if you are still using the JoPo thumbs. From what I have looked at, JoPo or Vise seam to be the best ones. Thank you in advance for giving me an update on this topic. Ken
This is my EXACT lineup I'm taking next month along with my Black Hammer Pearl Urethane and either my DNA Coil or Attention Star to round out the arsenal
Question about arsenal, I'm currently bowling league House shot and I've been thinking about upgrading to the DNA coil, the attention star Or the VEBO, But not sure my main is the proton, The point is, and the question is, would the DNA coil fit in that ball #2, cause of course in the video he was saying those balls could be under the idol but the DNA And all the others are stronger than the idol.
@@FSUSean2112 You can't forget about the coverstock. The Idol has the strongest coverstock Roto Grip has(Micro Trax). The same coverstock that was used on the original GEM, which is what makes it so strong. That being said, for league purposes on a house shot the Coil could be a good #2. If you start bowling on sport shots, you're going to want something closer to the Proton as a ball down like the Idol, X-Cell, Phaze 2, Ion etc before moving to a skid-flip like the Coil/Star/VEBO. Of course these are just my opinions. 🙂
@SgtPhroste Interesting, I would just be doing house shots, and House league, But I do wanna participate in tournaments around the area and I might get something together like a 5 ball arsenal, Cause I currently have a three ball set up right now, But I do like the dna coil more cause the length and quick backend, The virtual Energy blackout is more smooth and stronger, I guess in my opinion and you can give your opinion also. But I would be replacing my nuke Cell, I kinda wanna wait until bowl. EXPO is done because they might release some stuff. Or if the X-Cell does good, they might come out with a Paralyzed version. And I might get that, or I would get the Coil, after my proton,
Another masterful video Luis. I think I could probably use a DNA Coil and an Ion Pro to round out my 6 ball arsenal. I am probably going to end up with 8 balls, but subbing out depending on the situation. #TaylorSwiftFollowsLuisNapoles

That’s because it’s some type of reverse block pattern where there’s a ton of oil outside the 5

What do you think about the Envy tour? What spot would you place it?
That would be like a first ball out the bag kinda look
A question: Why wouldn't you scuff a ball down to nothing and break the lane down during practice
as a team you def can yea

Do you drill all your pin up / down with the same layout
yes
What surface is the idol and ion at? 2k?
