Stunning city centre. All these new builds by the canal are awesome. The tree cover of this world metropolis is absolutely magnificent. IT looks like a city built within a forest. That is why IT is called the Emerald City. Thank you very much for your great flythrough.
This drone footage - despite being impressive - only highlights one intrinsic problem with our second city. Now if only Birmingham could be as radical and bold as say Rotterdam or Frankfurt when it comes to planning, designing and building its towers and public architecture instead of all these rather bland buildings. There is nothing in the city that can even be regarded as world class or iconic (the new library and Selfridges are not that great to be honest). The skyline is generally nondescript and mostly mid rise, with the tallest structure (BT tower) almost 60 years old and nothing even taller than that to this day. Other than London, the only city with a skyline that is radically changing / transforming at a truly shocking rate (on a monthly basis) is that of Manchester with its 50 odd skyscrapers all now competing with each other to be taller. It is unrecognisable now! How is it that that city can simply just do this and yet Birmingham can't? It might excel in lots of other areas (very green city and its canals are impressive) but it really needs a few truly ground breaking skyscrapers and other dynamic architecture to assert its status as UK's second city. It's just not doing that at the moment.
You are only seeing in this video a small proportion of Birmingham's City Center around the symphony hall area and Brindley place, on the other side of the City there are plenty of High Rise Buildings including at least 5 under construction, at Horse Fair there are two of the tallest council blocks of flats in Europe. Concerning Manchester a lot of the High Rise Buildings are at Salford Keys in the City of Salford, although a part of Greater Manchester, the City of Salford is not actually the City of Manchester, but two totally independent Cities with their own Mayors and Councils, where as this video is actually of the City of Birmingham.
@@paulhanson5164 i totally agree, Birmingham is also known as the greenest City in Europe in having more green spaces and trees than any other City in Europe
You do know you could of declined to give your details if there is no crime being committed and if your drone is of a certain gram in weight you could of told them to jog on it seems they obtained your details unlawful
So if it is a dump, why such beautiful and modern buildings, so have you been to Birmingham and why such hatred of Birmingham as it is definitely not a dump.
You state a stupid comment on my City but fail to answer my question of calling it a dump, the reason is you have never visited Birmingham and are just biased and actually know nothing about Birmingham
Impressive city 😲greetings from The Netherlands🌷
