    Basically this passage refers to the early years of trade and banking, something that has become commonplace among people today. Money, banking, loans, interest, investments, etc serves to separate and divide the people. Now we have rich and poor. But even rich people struggle to reach innate divine spirituality. Our natural spiritual side has long since been completely removed and we more or less only srtive to earn more cash, rather than to enjoy what our spiritual selves would have been able to achieve, which has become something so distant and strange to us now.
    Yet the birds are truly free, man is not. The animals don't have bank accounts and neither do they have to follow laws and rules of conduct, theirs are innate rules connected to thier being whole with their surroundings while man separates and divides everything into categories and destroys the very earth on which he depends for nourishment. Money has completely warped our true natures
    That's really what is missing in our hearts and Jesus knew this then.

      There was no interest. They were money changers. If you had pagan coins, they were not allowed. You had to have Jewish coins with no symbols. But the money changers were robbing the people by charging outrageous exchange rates. Plus conducting business on holy ground. Also you could buy animals to sacrifice. So there was goats and sheep defecating in the Temple. And Jesus rightfully tossed them out and told them to take their dirty goats outside and also not conduct business in holy ground. Which is forbidden. Plus not robbing the people with outrageous exchange rates.

    It could also mean as simple as robbing God of what belongs to Him. He said “the temple of God should be a house of prayer but you have turned it into a den of theives”
    Our body is the temple of God, when did we spend time with God through prayer? Arent we robbing Him of our time for Him?
    There are so much meaning to robbing God. What else are we putting first in your lives? Entertainment? Sports? Hobby? If all other things has been robbing of our first love for Jesus. Then we robbing God. “My house should be a house of prayer” when did we soak ourselves into prayer?

      faith042179. You got it all wrong buddy. Jesus came among the Jewish congregation to discuss foreign policy. The whip buddy refers to him lashing out with his tongue at the Jewish leaders of Judah and Jerusalem about them selling Hebrew families to the Greeks and Arabs. The cords refers to him ( Jesus ) stringing words together from the books of the scrolls. And make means he's to introduce to the Jews in front of their foreign friends those words from the books of Nehemiah and Ezra.

    You've heard it said that the Lord Jesus spoke in the Temple only to the gentiles, this is not true; He spoke in side the Jewish courts when He said " I am the light of the world" to only Jew's. Jesus also preached in the gentiles court of course to the both Jew's and gentiles. It would be wrong to say that the word's of Jeremiah the prophet were to the gentiles, for the gentiles could not turn the Jewish Temple into anything while the Jew's were in control; it was to the Jew's who allowed this corruption, and it was not considered only the court of gentiles but the Temple for He said " it is written my Father's House" not the Court of the gentiles only...

    Usury is defined as charging interest by lenders. (Even 1% infuriated The Prophet Nathan)
    This is a very serious issue, why?
    Usury is a very grave sin. It is condemned by Our Almighty Creator. Condemned by Christianity in the bible. Condemned by Judaism in the Torah. Condemned by Islam in the Quran. Condemned by Buddhism. It is considered a worse sin than many adulteries and worse than murder and stealing.
    Alah-is Aramaic Hebrew word for Elohim.
    In the Quran it says that Alah declared war against Riba or Usury-charging interest. The Word, says according to scripture. The person who lends with interest or usury should not be allowed to live. A death sentence is passed to the one who lends with interest or usury in the Torah and in the Christian Bible. In the Quran it says. Alah declared war against Riba or the ones lending with interest or usury. You think death is the end of the punishment? They will be burned in hell for all eternity. They will forget who they were for the longest time of no end, but their dry mouths thirst, pain and suffering fire of their punishment shall never end.

    I am not Christian and came here to learn specifically why Jesus was upset at “money changers”. According to this, Jesus was mad that there might be coins with pagan symbols within the area of several football fields. Seems super petty. I dont see why “money changers” would be so prolific as to take over every single place in a city, including in a temple. So much so that Jesus would turn violent and start knocking over tables. He couldn’t ask them? But turning over tables would somehow make them leave? Either Jesus had the authority to tell them to leave, or he didn’t. Turning over tables isn’t going to solve anything. This story seems like BS to me.

    • @robertjones4662
      @robertjones4662 2 роки тому

      why don't these raggedy preachers teach the truth ? turn over tables connotes a change in government policies. Jesus started off by ministering what Nehemiah came to dismiss ? the practice of moneylending ? in exchange for Hebrew families. ( African families ) being sold to the Greeks ? through the Sidonians and the Tyrians ? ( Joel 3:1-6 ) The Jews being at the center of all this... The Arabians having their part in this slave trade ? along with some African leaders. Jesus came to Jerusalem to speak to the Jewish High Priests in front of these foreign friends of theirs. using God's whip ? which is his lash of the tongue to lash out at these groups of merchants. Of Cords refers to what the book of Job calls... ( a string of words ) words of which Jesus uses from verses of certain books to lash out at the whole of them.

    Alright, now let's look at reality. For over 2000 years the Jews had their religion. Their religion required a sacrifice to GOD (Genisi 4.3).
    GOD and his wisdom put down Cane for bringing produce and was happy with Abel's lamb sacrifice. Now with that in mind, the only way city Jews could get this sacrifice was to buy it from merchants (at tables) in front of the Temple ( not in the Temple). Now, what was Jesus trying to prove by violently turning over those tables? Would any Christian smile if another religious person of another faith assaulted them? Hey, what of that saying of Jesus;
    Do onto others as you would have them do onto you.
    Something to think about here.
