Thank you for sharing your video! I really enjoyed it. You did a great job of providing a nice amount of detail, and your piano playing was lovely. I’m a fan of the Roland SuperNATURAL sound engine with the Concert Grand piano tone, and it sounded amazing in your video. Keep up the great work!

I have the FP 30 and even from my iPad’s speakers I can tell the 30x sounds richer and fuller.

What you are hearing is more bass in the internal Roland sound, but if you listen with good headphones on you'll hear more detail and tonal complexity in VSL sample. VSL will sound more like an authentic acoustic piano (IMO).

Very nice review ! I got that piano days ago, upgraded from Roland Fp10. The thing is that i don't feel the difference in the 6 keytouch mods. If i use the FIX mode, feels the same as the SUPER HEAVY mode. Is the Fp30x like that ? Or its just mine ? Should i return it ? 🤭 love your playing, very nice.

    • @Comfort_One_Another

I think yo should definitely feel a difference between the various touch sensitivity modes. Especially between the extremes. Heavy should take more force to produce a louder sound while light should take less downward force.

Did you notice that Signore Bello replaced this Roland by a Yamaha (mentioned in the introductory text under the video).
I'm not into Roland, but is the "keytouch mode" just Roland jargon for "velocity curve"?
If true, then changing modes does not alter the weighting of the keys in any way (which seems a reasonable assumption to me, at this price point).
What resonates in my brain are the words of Stu Harris who reviews pianos in a piano shop YT channel context. Great musician, by the way.
He once said, my paraphrasing, about a piano that you might feel it is too hard to make it sound loud and rather than alter its velocity curves, just set the volume louder.
You see, with the piano's (the audio chain's) volume set to 1/4, you can never play fff. Set it to 100% (or 90% to prevent clipping) and it plays a lot lighter.
The grams weight are nice to know and in real piano actions differ from instrument to instrument and their ages. What a pianist actually does is accelerate a hammer through a mechanism under each key. In a real piano action, as the length of the mechanism attached to a key changes from long to short (left to right), the resistance also changes. When you keep playing the same instrument you don't notice this consciously as you adapt your hitting of keys to the desired volume

I opened the wrong side and it made no difference. If you want acoustic piano emulation, get a Roland FP-30X or an FP-10 if you want to save a little and are willing to go with used. The FP-30X and the FP-10 have the same keyboard action and the same sound engine, but the FP-30X has some extra features.

£600 is a lot of money to many ppl in the UK at the moment!

To be fair, the point being made was not that this model is affordable in an absolute sense, which (I agree) for many people is not the case.

    • @redditanonymous-p9w
      @redditanonymous-p9w Рік тому +1

Sure, but that's just the price of decent entry level digital piano. He's not saying £600 isn't much money, generally. The FP10 is a decent choice and that's "only" £320-350.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts on this e piano. I am considering to buy one and your experience is helping me very much. BTW i cant make a decision for roland or bösendorfer, both sounds fantastic. Maybe i am not experienced enaugh but roland sounds lauder and bösendorfer sounds more rich.

It's alway great if you can test pianos before you buy them. You can get good information from videos, but it's not the same as sitting down and trying the instrument for yourself.

Hi Helen, thank you for the nice question. The internal sound is pretty good, but it really doesn't compare to VSL's Bosendorfer Imperial or Garritan's CFX. Both of those sound amazing (with headphones) through the Roland. I like listening to you play also. Thanks for sharing.

Also are you able to change the weight of the keys on the Roland I thought I saw yes somewhere. I’m getting mine soon as a second Piano 🎹 bit like your needs. Mines same.

Thanks. At least through UA-cam and my simple headphones, I was surprised that I didn't feel any preference in the VST used. Personally, this pleased me, as I realized that for my needs I definitely don't need to mess around with VST.
P.S. At the beginning of the video I really thought my computer was lagging (I have an old laptop).
