Pedophiles can say the same thing and they question the status quo of hating abusing children.
I don’t think being outcasted is 100% equatable to morally in the right against “group think.”
Sometimes bad things and evils need to be shunned...
Just because you went against a group of people doesn’t mean you are fighting group think...

Many years ago I was involved in baseline studies for an important chemical engineering project in Spain. All the team were congratulating themselves when the project finally got the green light, slapping themselves on the back and saying things like "this will be a winner!" All except an engineer called Bill who tried to point out that the water supply, critical to the plant design, had been assessed during a very wet year. They couldn't wait to get rid of him, "not a team player" and "loose cannon" etc. It turned out that Bill was right and the project failed as water had to be purchased from local authorities adding significantly to the costs.

@Evan Shlom I guarantee that you will never get this level of detail in an interview. You might get indications from comments like "there were staffing problems at XYZ" - this equates to "the boss was the problem". Many modern corporations want to recruit people that are ambitious but vulnerable. This type of person wants to succeed but is afraid of losing the job and will accede to being exploited and participate in groupthink.

You seriously think in an interview, your prospective job will admit to this type of behavior if you asked?

Both as a psychology major and a person who was a part of a religious cult for 14 years. I can truly say that group think is a fascinating subject in the field of psychology. Mostly due to the fact that I had prior involvement in said organization for so long in a group think concept. Only I didn't realize that this was a backbone concept of the group. Mostly willingly so from ministry and leadership in the organization and unknowingly by its congregants. It's fascinating to me how easy it is to become involved in a group think scenario. Which is why as a psych student I find group think to be my preferred area of study

You know all the bad things of group think is very useful in other circumstances
Don't disagree or question the goal of your group. Group think is about not breaking the spell. But the tricks to keep the spell intact, can be used in many other ways. illusion of invulnerability, Stereotyping others, Self-censorship are very useful when used in the right way.
illusion of invulnerability is also called optimism. Instead of mocking a risky engineer or a married couple. We should honor their gamble and hope they are the one which will succeed. Let thousand flowers bloom, because we don't know which one is the best.
Stereotyping others isn't what you describe. stereotypes can be better than you. What you describe is superiority bias. The believe that you are above the flock making you trick investors. The best liar it the one who believe his own lies.
Self-censorship is also called think before you talk. This is priceless in most groups, otherwise everyone would say stupid things to often.
False consensus is called the curse of knowledge
    Unquestioned belief is called faith
Direct pressure is called a loaded question.
    Rationalizing is justifying beliefs
    Mind guarding is avoiding falsification

Great outline of a subject that many people are not aware of ! I've known this term for a long time. I experienced group think at the Boy Scout Pinewood Derby when I was a kid. My favorite color was (it still is) and my pinewood derby car was painted orange. When I got to the Derby - I discovered that all the other kids had stripes on their cars, or a decal number on the side, or pinned on head of a race car driver with a helmet on, tiny roll bars, tiny exhaust pipes sticking out the back, etc. The kids kinda chided me a bit for my car being just plain orange with the wheels nailed on it...it was nicely rounded on the front tho (super sleek aerodynamic !) and the paint was super glossy too.
    ---
I felt like I needed to fit in so I borrowed this kids red and blue markers and drew stripes on the back top area ruunning straight to the back of the car. One red stripe in the middle and blues stripes on each side. It made me feel better, but I was like 8 or 9 yrs old and kept getting the marker on my hands and slightly and accidentally smearing some of the marker etc. Looking back I totally was willing to change something that I was so proud of bc my dad and I worked on and made it together...no biggy.
    ----
The good news is out of the 150 to 200 kids there...i won 3rd place and still have the trophy ! They made fun of me for the orange color car and no decorations but I had the last laugh ! Again, great video !!!!

it is a part of our human nature. It is something that will inevitably be imprinted on you at some point in your life. There is no real way to escape this because no human is consciously aware or able to control or govern every single good or bad element in life affecting his or her mind or behaviour at any given moment, social or otherwise. Some the world's most intelligent people, people with some of the highest mental acumen and acuity aren't able to master this.
Perspective is balance and everything requires it. There is a time to speak your mind, disagree or show resistance by either word or action. There is also a time when I'll decide to remain and going along with your idea because maybe it really does make sense. And even if it doesn't I'll still remain just to see how it plays out, because who am to constantly speak out against or put down your hopes or dreams just because a bunch of idiots who subscribe to GROUPTHINK says I should???😂😂😂

It’s the root of religion, sports, traditions, it’s intrinsically linked to all of human culture. And the explanation for so much of the stupid things we have done as a species.

Even if this business makes 22 million dollars, it will still be a failure. The direct pressure borders on gaslighting. They're also making several entrepreneur mistakes. Entrepreneurship has unique requirements, such as being yourself, not taking orders, being experienced, and having product-market fit. I think they're also inexperienced in the used tissue business. That's an additional entrepreneurship mistake. I recommend not entering that industry.
