Made some minor mistakes while reading the tab, but it hink the tab itself is a good transcription. I decided to just leave it like that since this is a very jammable tune. About technique, i think staccatos are the key lesson for this song. You can actually check some lessons i have on the channel about that topic. By the way, most of the song moving from Am7 and Dm7 implies the use of the A Minor Scale, or A Aeolian and D Dorian in that respective order. @@lumix1640 That's actually a good question. Keith played bass on two songs on the Some Girls record, but this song was played by Bill. Keith is also underrated when it comes to bass. His bassline on Sympathy for the Devil is classic.

I play guitar and not bass, but I had to look for a cover of this song because I notice myself stealing a lot of it when playing guitar. It's pretty brilliantly groovy, and I grew up with this music so it's nostalgic as well. Well-played, you got that groove down.
The man was so "unassuming", yet a complete monster bassist! He's had to share a stage with icons Jagger, Mick Taylor, and of course, Keith Richard's. Charlie Watt's ain't no slouch behind the kit either. I believe both Bill Wyman and Charlie Watt's get overlooked, but most people, especially musicians, know what a fantastic rythm section the Rolling Stones had. Probably won't see that again. So I learned the song using this video and I thank you for such an amazing video and great playing - you really nailed it. However, I was watching an old live version where the bassist is using a pick. When I listen to it, it just feels like the finger style sound feels right. Anyone have thoughts on this? Thanks!
Personal preference. I don't play with a pick or more so cannot play with a pick 🤷♂️
I've just finished watching the BBC broadcast of their 1978 concert in Texas, where they played all of Some Girls and more. I love Bill Wyman's playing anyway, but this is one of my faves of his, especially as he's quite high in the mix.
He's usually shown picking with his thumb and occasionally playing finger style. He rarely seemed to use a pick (too harsh?). It's always the way with Stones concert videos that the camera focuses on Mick, Ronnie and Keith, forgetting that there's a raft of bass players out there who like to watch what Wyman's doing. In this particular concert video he remains very much back stage right in the shadows, so watching him is even harder!
