Starting an Etsy shop to earn more income is a great idea! Etsy is a huge marketplace for sellers as you can sell both physical and digital products to a huge audience. If you want to start an Etsy shop in order to earn part time or full time income then this tutorial for beginners will help you get started!
I know a lot of people who have never sold online before can feel intimidated which is why I created this tutorial on how to set up an Etsy shop step by step. It is very easy and seeing someone else do it makes it feel much easier!
In order to start an Etsy shop you will need an idea of what you want to sell and a name picked out for your new Etsy store. If you haven't already decided this before starting your video you will want to think about what you will sell in your new Etsy store and what brand you want to build around your shop. Once you've got a general idea you are ready to watch this video tutorial on how to create your new Etsy shop!

Etsy is a great platform for beginners because it is a marketplace which means it already has buyers who are looking for items to buy. When you open a new shop on Etsy you instantly have the same access to all those buyers and don't have to drive traffic to your listing like you would on your own website.
This is why I highly, highly recommend Etsy for beginners who want to sell items online.

So I started a Etsy shop but it’s only letting me login to the account with no access to my shop. PLEASE HELP😩
When u make the account click open a shop I would recommend doing this on google so sign in on google then look for the thing saying open ship and do the steps listed

If you’re on mobile then you have to download the Sell on Etsy app. If you’re on computer, there’s a button in the top right corner saying go to shop manager. Click that and you’ll get to your shop.

When doing how much people will pay for your product in shipping cost, how do you know how much shipping they should pay? Or does Etsy set a price for you?

I believe that Etsy has a shipping price set for them, for example if someone’s buying your product and there super far away from your state or country then the shipping price will be higher.
I went to my local post office and I asked for prices..I am selling paintings that are canvas on wooden borad.I weighted them ,so then I showed at the post office how much would cost me postage with that weight as they have different size.Then I make a price of a products and shipping.

*FOR DIGITAL ART*

if your selling digital art, follow these steps.
1 - 'digital file download' should be ticked during the making of the product
2 - include the art as the file
and that's it!
*FOR IN-PERSON ART*
---------------------------------------
if your selling actual art (canvas, paper, etc.), then follow these steps.
1 - 'digital file download' should NOT be ticked
2 - set up your address for etsy (don't worry, it won't be shared)
3 - enter shipping price (optional if you want it free)
4 - choose what type of delivery you want it to be
5 - finish your product details

Perfect! I wish shopify did this! Shopify is also geared more with using Windows so most of the videos were with Windows. I also know nothing about SEO and such and yet being new to this whole e commerce and not knowing anything, shopify was no help. Way to many videos on 1 things by many different people not giving all the information. You have to be really good a putting puzzles together in order to put all the different videos together for just 1 thing and hope it works. I wish someone said to start with Etsy first as a beginner.. And why. I will be looking for your tutorials. They are precise, clear, and understandable. Thank you! Honestly, other than doing the get myself seen out there to get the traffic video, (which I'll be looking for), you covered more the 100's of videos I tried watching for shopify to just get things figured out! Hi there ~ Excellent! Sooo helpful! Question: I'm about to start an Etsy account very soon and I was wondering...how does one set up shop, take their time with things BEFORE their shop goes live? I know you can do this but is there a button that you can click?
You can do a lot of the work before actually setting up like writing out description in a word doc for example. Also you can make your listings into draft instead of active so they are not live to be searched.
You have the absolute best video to help people with the Etsy shop I’m going to start one myself now I’ve been on Etsy 10 years and there’s lots of things I’ve bought that I want to resell now back there in excellent condition so it’s a good idea. I’m so glad that you had this great tutorial would be cool if you did a part two. There’s a lot of other people on here doing these but they’re not any good at it you are very accurate with the real details of what is necessary at least for me. Thank you for being here.

No, you cannot. You have to publish the first listing to open the shop. Thereafter you can add listings, save as drafts, and publish when you are ready.

Thanks for the guidance.. In order to pay the initial listing fees of etsy they are asking to add credit card information. Can't we use paypal to pay that fee instead of using credit card?
I’m not sure you’d have to ask Etsy but I believe it is a credit card. You can get a card from your PayPal account and use that

You can’t do two on one account. You have to use another email.

Hi! Can I ask you two questions? Should my store name be my business name? My business name doesn’t necessarily tell what I do. Or should I call it something more descriptive even if it’s not my business name. My name currently is:

It depends on your marketing strategy, you can go either way. I’ve seen successful shops do both. You can add items as you go.

You are charging the customer via Etsy. The customer pays Etsy then Etsy pays you.

I'm in the part where it says, "How you'll get paid", and then it asks me for my valid ID. When I have already uploaded the image of my valid ID, I clicked "save and continue", but whenever I click that, it's telling me to add at least 1 payment method even though I have already did. You always have to pay taxes on income. The specifics will depend on where you live and many factors so I can’t advise as I’m not a tax professional.

Hello, my country is not on the option. What do I do?
We are stuck on the step at 00:59. We click on "Add a Photo," select the photo from the file viewer, click "Upload," but the site gives an Error banner claiming "You must first have an open store to make a listing" & never lets us get past that screen. What in the hell is the issue? How can we upload a photo to make a listing when making a shop requires a listing, but making a listing requires a shop?
does it take ¢20 after the sale or when you put it up it automatically has a pop up when you enter :)
When it’s listed. I opened a shop and all I did was add items and I was charged .20 cents per 2 listings, my shop was not even live yet.

You don’t need a license to be on Etsy but you may need a business license depending on where you live to sell anything. You’ll have to look into your local laws for that, but Etsy does not require it.

I've been a seller for years. LATELY I'm not only disappointed, but disgusted with the way Etsy handles business, complicates selling, and it's getting harder & harder to stay open. UNable to contact Customer Service for excess fees charged for one of my items that finally sold, I'm frustrated & FED up of trying. SUPPORT for sellers is a thing of the past. YOU SIMPLY CAN'T GET THROUGH. Please provide a genuine link to CS that ACTUALLY WORKS & doesn't go round & round to NOwhere!! Thanks!!

Yes that’s normal. They have to verify who they are sending money to because you have to file taxes on the money you earn over a certain amount.
